CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER 3Partnered with Southeastern Louisiana University to train EVERY Teacher Candidate in Stewards of Children™. 3Trained 552 adults in Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children™ to prevent child sexual abuse. Over 1417 adults trained since 2010. 3Trained 46 new facilitators in Louisiana to offer Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children™ across the entire state. 3Vicki Richard, CAS Partner, named Louisiana Children’s Advocacy Center Association’s Community Member of the Year. 3Alexis Ducorbier, State Farm Insurance, CAS Board, named Louisiana CASA Association’s Board Member of the Year. 3Obtained over 1310 hours of professional development; resulting in over 48 hours per staff in one year! 3Since 2006, increased services to children and families through the CAC by 109% and CASA by 78%. 3Invested 11,405 hours in volunteer support to our Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) conducts forensic interviews for children in a safe environment who have disclosed sexual or severe physical abuse. Additional advocacy, clinical services, and prevention education services are offered. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are trained volunteers who serve as powerful voices for abused and neglected children. A CASA stands beside a child with the primary goal of helping them reach a safe and permanent home. CAC Program 2012 Highlights CASA Program 2012 Highlights • • • • • Served 462 children with 229 volunteer advocates. 143 children were placed in permanent homes as a result. • 66 new volunteers were trained. • CASA volunteers provided 7,776 hours of service. • Facilitated a Mandated Reporter Training to 47 school staff at the Louisiana Association of Safe & Drug Free Schools and Communities . • Julie Tripp joined the CASA team as an Advocate Supervisor for Livingston parish. • Attended the National CASA Conference in Washington, DC. Conducted 570 Forensic interviews. Provided 1576 hours of counseling to 207 individuals. Provided 371 hours of prevention to 4555 individuals. Trained 552 adults in Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children. • Reaccredited through the National Children’s Alliance. • Conducted 1st Annual Voices for Children Law Enforcement Flag Football Tournament was held. Prevention Education Training • • • • local communities saving over $243, 497.00! Distibuted 28,918 resource materials. Reached over 41,789 children or adults. Conducted over 963 presentations. Provided 1,957 hours of training and education to prevent child abuse and neglect. 3Presented 2012 Mary Ellen Award to Detective Corey Stewart, Hammond Police Department for initiating 1st Annual Voices for Children Bowl. Child Advocacy Services (CAS) kicked off our 4th annual Cottages for CASA Playhouse Raffle last summer with a preview party revealing the playhouse design to sponsors and local community leaders. Local builders donated their time and labor to build 2 custom playhouses designed by Holly and Smith Architects. Our 2012 Cottages for CASA Raffle winners were Jeremy Thigpen, Sheriff Daniel Edwards and Kay Riede won a beach stay.
