Sliding Into a New,
Exciting Year at Hunter
On behalf of Hunter Mountain, it’s
my pleasure to welcome you to the
2015-16 Season!
The beginning of each season is always an exciting time for us - we
get to see the many faces that make Hunter Mountain a special
place for us. We also get to see our many improvements take
effect as skiers and riders make their first marks on the mountain.
This past summer we hosted record-breaking music festivals and
enjoyed many Skyrides, Ziplining, Zombie Wars, and so much more.
We’ve also invested $1.2 million in new snowmaking equipment,
which results in top-to-bottom automated snowmaking. Simply put,
Hunter can make more snow quicker and more efficiently. We now
cover even more terrain, are more environmentally resourceful and
will save money on energy costs.
Speaking of efficiency, I’m proud to announce that Hunter Mountain
is the only New York State ski resort participating in the National Ski
Area Association’s Climate Challenge. This is a voluntary program
aimed at reducing greenhouse gases through sustainable practices.
Improved snowmaking is an important component, and Hunter will
continue to make additional key changes this season. Follow the
progress of our Climate Challenge on HunterMtn.com.
Our Mountain Operations crew was busy making mountain-wide
improvements; keep a look-out for many of these changes, including
Way Out (now a blue square intermediate trail); Madison Ave’s daily
opening; Upper Broadway’s new race venue; expanded Empire
Glades; and re-graded terrain on Hunter One for an enhanced
learning experience.
Carve some time out for yourself and for family - come up and enjoy
every bit of the winter season at Hunter Mountain. And don’t forget
about the summer and fall! Whenever you choose to come up, we
sincerely look forward to seeing you!
Happy trails!
