I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Since this is my last message to you, I want to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to be President. In looking back at the past two years, I am very proud of the many educa+onal and social ac+vi+es and our annual event, the show. Of course all of this could have never been done without the en+re Board and Appointees. Our Past-President, Ted; Vice Presidents, Jen and Julie; Treasurer, Sharon; Newsleer Editor, Terry; Web Guru, Jimmy and Mart Manager, Terese. Thank You All! And best of luck to the new Board and Appointees! Hope to see you all at the Christmas party! Jane 2014 Club Officers President: Jane Perez 1st VP: Jennifer Hayes 2nd VP: Julie Faria Secretary: Any takers? Treasurer: Sharon Byrne Newsle"er: Terry Ryan Webmaster: Jim Carter December 14th CCCBC Christmas Party! Central California Cage Bird Club Newsleer December 2014 November 16 Mee+ng Minutes Jane Perez, as presiding President. Details were discussed concerning the Bird Show and Mart: Cockatiels in separate room was a good idea. Changes that need to be made; need cap (limit to spending) for air flights for judges, need more advertising (e.g. ads in Modesto Bee). Need more sponsorship money (send out letters soliciting), need more room to stage birds for judging, need better accounting for releasing birds to owners at end of show, need better lighting over show benches, make a flyer to hand out to all those who attend the show (including info about bird club, bird show, raffles, etc.) (Sharon offered to write this up). **Next year’s bird show: look into possibility of using Turlock fairgrounds: Joel Place offered to see what they offer. ** Look into best date for show: Jane will ask Mary Anne Buckles. Vendors like having our show the day before Fresno Mart. *** Nominations for next year’s officers: • President: Sharon Byrne • 1st Vice President: a committee? • 2nd Vice President: Joel Place • Secretary: Barbara Milgrom • Treasurer: Jane Perez • Newsletter: Terry Ryan Next Meeting: December 14th: Christmas Party! All members to bring wrapped gifts to exchange. A ham will be bought by the club (Julie), Sharon: Potatoes, Robin: Sweet Potatoes, Jane: Broccoli/Rice casserole, Terese: Green salad, rolls, Barbara: Jello salad. All other members to bring dessert items. Respectfully submitted, Sharon Byrne (not a real secretary) SHOW FACTS! When I was wri+ng up the “Show Results” I discovered some exci+ng figures that I’d like to share. Even though we did not offer two divisions that we usually do, our par+cipa+on numbers are up by about 20% from 2013! Here are the numbers: 2012 = 154 All Type Canary Divisions, Including Old Variety: 2013 = 187 entries 2014 = 207 entries All Color Canary Divisions: 2012 = 70 entries 2013 = 50 entries 2014 = 71 entries 2012 = 29 entries Finch Division 2013 = 22 entries 2014 = 36 entries Cocka1el Division 2013 = 19 entries 2014 = 23 entries We can all be proud of the growth of our show par+cipa+on. This indicates that the exhibitors are enjoying the show and word is spreading! The one division that did not grow and that we need to work at geKng some interest is the Juniors – in 2013 we had 4 exhibitors and in 2014 we only had one. It is so important for the future of bird-fancy to get young people involved. She climbs to the top of my Christmas Tree And she is as cute as she can be. She ra"les her way up to the top, She has goal, and she won't stop. She sees the light that's way up high, She always forgets that she can't fly. She gets up there and looks around, and wonders how she will get down. She looks to me to help her out, Then hops, and jumps, and flaps about. She bounces down, limb by limb. Maybe she should learn to swim. She makes her way down to the floor, Then realizes there are giIs to explore. She pulls on ribbons, tags, and bows, And what's inside, nobody knows. She grabs the wrapping to rip and tear, Determined to see just what's in there. She finds her treats, then stops to eat, And she really isn't very neat. But she makes our Christmas very bright, We'll always love her, she's quite a sight. Christmases will come and go, We hope that each will bring us snow. But Sammie will bring us so much joy, We thank God he made her for us to enjoy.
