Purpose • Prepare for Success in College • Exposure to cutting edge online program • Help level the playing field for PCF students • Provide Critical Feedback for Future Programs • Input desired on all aspects of program – e.g., topics, examples used, language, pictures, session duration, etc. • Complete written questionnaire after finishing the full program • Participate in a Focus Group discussion • Facilitate Dialogue Between Students and Mentors • Mentors are there to answer questions • Mentors also monitor progress 51 PCF Trial - Structure • Total 15 students and their mentors participated • 87% female • 80% Hispanic and 20% African American • All students were first generation to attend college • Boundless Youth Foundation • Met with students/mentors to kick off trial and explain expectations • Project Manager assigned students/mentors to the operating system, handled technology issues, sent reminders, monitored progress, etc. • Administered written questionnaire and facilitated face-to-face feedback session • Provided written summary of results • Peninsula College Fund • Assigned student/mentor pairs and organized meetings • Provided small reward to students completing the entire process 52 PCF Trial – Key Insights • Program duration and interest • • • • • Length of each module was just right Stress/Drugs, Physical Activity/Nutrition, Sleep and Relationships Enjoyed the interactive questions, activities and use of examples Appropriate reading level and acceptable amount of reading required Topics were relevant and would recommend to others “We learned a little bit about nutrition and fitness in health class, but no one ever mentioned sleep.
