The latest edition of Federation e-News has been posted on our website: www.parentfederation.catholic .edu.au School Community Prayer Book A book has been placed at the front gate entrance of the school to record any prayers from our school community. Please use this book to record any prayers you have that you would like our community to join with you in praying. Please also feel free to write in the language you are most comfortable with. Many thanks Community Prayer Community Prayer is a new initiative that we will be trialling this year. It will be held fortnightly on odd weeks on WEDNESDAY mornings in the courtyard. On these morning students will not be able to go upstairs to classrooms until after community prayer. At 8:45am a bell will sound and children, parents and staff are invited to gather in the courtyard. This community prayer will allow us as a community to reflect for a little time on a current event or Feast day, providing a prayerful experience for all involved. Parents/ caregivers, students and teachers are all encouraged to attend. Student Leadership Team (SLT) 2015 I would like to congratulate the following students for being chosen to be on the Student Leadership Team this semester. Serena Cowell Jaena Ho Eloise Ellery-Fitch TUNGARA AVENUE 1 hard copy of the “lists” held in the Library Resource Centre for you to look at, but you can go to the website at any time to check what is on the list. (To save trees!) The website is www.prc.sa.edu.au (printed at the top of your Reading Record sheet – Yellow this year). The BOOKLIST tab allows you to have access to all books that are selected for the Premier’s Reading Challenge – previous and current year. It organises books in year levels and also has them organised under themes. This is a reading challenge, so try something different to what you usually read and try different authors. Years 3 to 7 - no more than 2 books from a series (ie. Boyz Rule!, Horrible Histories etc.) and no more than 2 books by the same author (ie. Duncan Ball, J.K. Rowling, Andy Griffiths, Geronimo Stilton etc.) There will be a tray on the Circulation Desk to put your completed forms into. Remember, it’s a challenge that’s meant to be fun at the same time and it is never too late to complete it for the first time or to continue again if you didn’t do it last year. You can even continue the Reading Challenge in High School. Receptions will complete the Challenge as a whole class. The teacher will record the books read. Year 1’s and 1/2MI will have their own forms, which will be kept in the Library Resource Centre and used during class borrowing time. Awards on completion are: 1st year – Certificate, 2nd year – Bronze medal, 3rd year – Silver medal, 4th year – Gold medal, 5th year – Champion medal, 6th year – Legend medal, 7th year – Hall of Fame medal and 8th year and on – Hall of Fame Reader for Life Certificates.
