MINKHA is a sustainable development success story initiated in Bolivia by Save the Children Canada. Beginning 20 years ago, the women have established a viable cooperative that has afforded them the means to provide for their children and their extended families. We are totally NON PROFIT. Work of Your Hand International Development is a Christian not-for-profit organization that desires to help impoverished artisans in developing nations regain dignity and self-worth through work that provides fair wages. When you buy fair trade olive oil from Palestine you support farmer families and collectives while promoting justice, peace and ecumenical understanding. You are also supporting economic development in Palestine, the planting of new olive trees to replace destroyed groves, and educational programs for youth there. Silver Sensations sells vibrant jewelry, which is created by artisans in the highlands of Guatemala using glass beads produced in the Czech Republic. Over 100 families are paid more than fair wages in the local context, providing opportunities in four different economically disadvantaged communities. Friends of Burma sells Fair Trade chocolate, handmade crafts and 100% Organic coffee in order to help refugees from the world's longest running civil war with medical and other aid, resettling in Canada and sponsorship of families in need. Camelot Haven sells Certified Fair Trade alpaca sweaters, accessories, toys and teddy bears. Calgary Immigrant Women's Association sells items that are hand crafted by CIWA volunteers. The proceeds from the sales go to support CIWA programs that foster the integration of immigrant women and children into our community. Karen Baptists sell handmade craft and fabric items.
