Why Grow Daylilies?
If you’ve ever grown daylilies, you know what a great plant they are. They have to be one of the
easiest plants available: winter-hardy perennials that require little maintenance and have almost
no problems from pest or disease. Useful as both specimens and mass plantings, there is a spot in
every garden for a daylily!
Why Grow Our Daylilies?
Selection - It’s hard to believe, but there have been over 60,000 varieties
of daylilies named and introduced. From this wealth of choices, we’ve
selected varieties that we know will grow and perform reliably.
•
Blooms in almost any color, shape and size, from petite 2” doubles
to huge 10” spiders.
•
Classic favorites and cutting-edge selections.
•
Hardy dormant selections for the coldest areas, and evergreen
varieties for gardeners in the deep South.
Extra-Large Plants - When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better!
Like these three plants Ken is holding, all the plants we ship will be three
fans or larger.
•
Two or three times as large as what you might receive from other
companies.
•
Larger plants get established faster and produce more blooms quicker!
•
Big enough to bloom the first year if planted in spring. Plant in
summer or fall for guaranteed blooms the next summer.
Farm-Fresh to You - We grow all the daylilies we sell. Your plants will
usually be out of the ground less than 24 hours before they’re headed your way.
•
Freshly dug when you order.
• The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried to
make sure they are weed and insect free.
• They’ll arrive at your door, ready to go in the ground and take right
off growing.
Our Guarantee
Our daylilies are guaranteed forever!
You must be Completely Satisfied or we will provide
a full refund or replacement.

Growing Great
Daylilies
Daylilies are extremely carefree and easy-togrow plants. Complete planting and culture
information is included with every order. If
you have questions or concerns, please call
865-687-3770 or email oakesdaylilies@aol.com
Where to Plant Sun: Daylilies love sun, full sun if possible.
• A general rule is at least 6 hours of sun a day.
• They will tolerate part-shade conditions.
• Many darker-colored varieties will
benefit from partial shade
Soils: Daylilies will grow in a wide range of
soils, from sand to heavy clay.
• If needed, improve heavy clay soils by
adding compost, peat moss or sand.
• Sandy soil will benefit from the addition
of compost or peat moss.
• Consider raised beds in wet areas.
When to Plant • Spring or Fall planting is recommended,
especially in hot areas
• You can plant successfully through the
summer in most areas if you water.
• Spring shipments should arrive after the
ground has thawed and danger of hard
frost has passed.
• Fall shipments should arrive several
weeks before freezing weather.

“Absolutely amazing blooms! The picture

YELLOW EXPLOSION
2011 Honorable Mention
This is one of our own introductions, and
when we were selecting a name, we wanted to
pick something that reflects just how much it
blooms - because it doesn’t just bloom, it explodes with color. Your plants will be covered
with masses of bright yellow blooms.
