MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE
PROGRAM
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has a long and proud guiding tradition. Join
one of our accredited naturalists for a hike of your choosing. The first guest
to reserve decides which adventure the group will take that day. Together we
can challenge the summit of Mount Fairview, walk up to one of the historic
tea houses, or drive to one of the more remote trails in the park. The choice is
yours!
Half Day Guided Hikes
COST: Adults $49.00 | Children (ages 8-12) $24.00
Cancelation Policy: 12 hours
Lake Agnes and the Tea House
This lovely walk is one of the most popular hikes in Banff National Park and
for a good reason; on the way up we pass Mirror Lake tucked under the sheer
cliffs of the Big Beehive. At the Tea House, we have the option to enjoy some
of the fresh baked goods whilst enjoying the breath-taking back drop.
Distance: 7 km/4.4 mi | 385 m/1,260 ft DURATION: 4 Hours
Consolation Lake
The hike to Consolation Lakes is the shortest of the popular hikes at Moraine
Lake but the rugged scenery is as rewarding as that found on many longer
journeys. After walking through a cool spruce/fir forest, the trail opens up
into a lush meadow with vibrant wildflowers through most of summer. Once
at the lake you have a chance to relax and soak in the views of the glacier
capped peaks.
Distance: 6 km/3.6 mi | 100 m/335 ft DURATION: 4 Hours
Saddleback Pass
Starting from the shore of Lake Louise the trail climbs moderately to steeply
at times, aiming for a pass between Mount Fairview and Saddle Peak. At the
top is the hidden ‘Guides View Point’ where we stop for a snack and our most
spectacular views.
Distance: 7.4 km/4.6 mi | 610 m/2,000 ft DURATION: 4 Hours
full Day Guided Hikes
COST: Adults $69.00 | Children (ages 8-12) $34.00
Cancelation Policy: 12 hours
Plain of Six Glaciers and Tea House
This spectacular hike can be turned into a loop that includes
walking up to Mirror Lake then traversing across the rarely
travelled ‘highline trail’. After conquering the ascent, we
arrive at the Tea House for fresh baked goods whilst looking
out over the 6 Glaciers located at the back of Lake Louise.
Distance: 11 km/7 mi | 335m/1,100 ft DURATION: 6 Hours
Larch Valley & Sentinel Pass
This trail leads up from Moraine Lake in a series of
switchbacks before levelling off in the Larch Valley. We
continue past small lakes to a few more switchbacks. The
reward for all the effort is an unforgettable view of the
famous valley of the Ten Peaks and the Paradise Valley to the
west.
Distance: 12 km/7.5 mi | 610m/2,000 ft DURATION: 7 Hours
Helen Lake
At the exquisite setting of Helen Lake, we stop, relax and
enjoy the alpine splendour. For those with a little extra
energy, we can continue up to a high ridge crest for an
unobstructed 360 degree view. It is simply one of the best
hikes in the park.
Distance: 6 km/3.7 mi | 550 m/1,800 ft DURATION: 6 Hours
Mount Fairview
Starting from the shore of Lake Louise we hike up the
moderately steep Saddleback Pass trail. At the pass we take a
break and fuel up for the ascent to come.
Numerous switchbacks deposit us on the summit for
spectacular views in all directions.
Distance: 10 km/6 mi | 1000 m/3,000 ft DURATION: 5 Hours

ICE WALK
ATHABASCA GLACIER ICE WALKS
Operated by Athabasca Glacier Ice Walks
Welcome to a world where snow and ice, rock and sky,
dominate the land. A world where nature rules and
humans look on in awe. The Columbia Icefield is the
largest mass of ice in the Rocky Mountains. Straddling
the boundaries of Alberta and British Columbia as well
as Banff and Jasper national parks, the Icefield stretches
for more than 25 km across the Continental Divide.
From its melting snows and many glaciers, waters flow
across North America to the Atlantic, the Arctic and the
Pacific oceans. The most accessible part of the Icefield is
the Athabasca Glacier, a six kilometres tongue of ice, just
kilometers away from the Icefields Parkway. During the
summer, guides lead adventurous people from around the
world onto this slowly moving river of ice. It’s a world
few people ever see, let alone experience first hand.

Marcus (Mark to his friends) was born on January 9th,
2009. His calm demeanour and friendly nature not
only make him a wonderful companion dog, but these
qualities were also exactly what the Canadian Guide
Dogs for the Blind were looking for in a “seeing eye
dog.” Unfortunately, Mark did not quite make the
grade as he was a little too friendly and a little too
interested in the world around him. As a second
career option, Marcus accepted his current position as
Director of Pet Relations, at Fairmont Chateau Lake
Louise. What a sweet gig!
Join one of our professional photographers for a photo
taking seminar or private lesson. Classes available
include: How to Shoot Sunsets and Sunrises, Photo
Composition, How to HDR, Basic Digital
Photography and how to use all those manual settings
on your camera! Custom programs are also available for
private lessons and groups of all sizes.
Likes:
Everything, especially fetch! Like all Labrador
Retrievers, Marcus loves to play fetch. His boundless
energy will wear out even the most seasoned
throwing arm. On returning to his playmate, Mark will
toss the toy back or drop it at his friend’s feet for the
next throw.
Dislikes:
We haven’t come across anything yet that Mark
doesn’t like - cats, dogs, rabbits, children, old folks,
hiking, sleeping, swimming, Mark loves it all!
Hikes:
Mark truly enjoys a leisurely stroll along the lakeside.
He enjoys a brisk walk, especially in the cool of the
morning. After almost 6 years of being trained to walk
on a leash, Marcus rarely gets up to jogging speed while
on leash.
Please contact the Concierge to sign up to walk Marcus
