LCT’s 52nd season – 352nd production
The Fish That Rescued a Mouse
It’s hard to believe now, but Disney Animation
was in trouble in the 1980s. A string of
lackluster films dating back to the 1970s and
a series of high-profile defections—led by
chief animator Don Bluth—left the studio
bereft of clout and talent. By late 1986, Disney
was already exploring plans to shutter the
animation studios for good.
Enter Ariel, a plucky young mermaid. Disney
initially passed on the film because they
felt it was too similar to their movie Splash!
Director Ron Clements persevered, though, and
brought Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, of
With the release of The Little Mermaid in
1989, the course of Disney Studios was forever
altered. The film was a monster hit and critical
darling recalling the glory days of Disney’s past.
This success encouraged Disney to recommit to
animation. Mermaid is a unique achievement
because it redefined a genre. It began an
unparalleled run of success that included
Beauty and the Best, the first animated film
nominated for Best Picture, Aladdin, and The
Lion King. All four won multiple Oscars and have
become beloved classics.
The Little Mermaid also was the first film
Disney marketed directly to girls. Thus, the
Disney princess culture was born. Disney now is
one of the most powerful media conglomerates
in the world, owning ABC, ESPN, Marvel,
Lucasfilm, and a host of other entertainment
ventures, all on the fins of Ariel and her friends.
Lovable characters with depth and personality,
stunning visuals, and some of the best Disney
songs ever written make this a truly memorable
film and now a musical, which we are proud to
present.

Cast Biographies
ELIZABETH ARIHOOD (Ursula)
started her theatrical journey at LCT as
Pepper in Annie in 1984. Since then
she’s done a number of LCT shows,
including Once Upon A Mattress
(Winifred), Chicago (Mama Morton) and Mary Poppins
(Miss Andrew). In recent years she could be seen at the
Appleseed Theatre in Gypsy (Rose) and The Cat in the
Hat (Cat) and at the Pump House playing the title
character in the “Madame Fefe” shows. She would like to
thank Ryan and Jon for their encouragement and
support.
OLIVIA BELLAND (Flounder)goes to
Aquinas Middle School and is in
seventh grade. She is delighted to be
cast as Flounder. Her most accomplished role (besides this!) was Jane
Banks in Mary Poppins at LCT. She has been in five
performances of The Nutcracker and currently dances
at La Crosse Dance Centre. Olivia would like to thank her
family for supporting her and “especially you ladies and
gentlemen for coming!”
MARTHA BOEHM* (Mersister/
Ensemble) is excited to be making her
La Crosse Community Theatre debut!
She was last seen as Sister in
Appleseed Community Theatre’s
summer production of Damn Yankees. Martha worked
in local TV news for about six years before becoming
Viterbo University’s digital marketing and media
specialist. She enjoys running, watching movies, and
traveling. Martha would like to thank her husband,
Brandon, for his support.
LAIKYN BOETTCHER (Mersister/
Ensemble) is in her second show on the
LCT stage. She was recently in Jesus
Christ Superstar. Laikyn is a
sophomore at UW-La Crosse, studying
occupational therapy and theatre. She has been involved
in countless theatre productions, including Footloose
and Hello, Dolly, but she is thrilled to be back, working
with the amazing people at LCT. Laikyn wants to thank
her amazing friends and family for always supporting
her dream.

MACKINLEY BRUEMMER
(Chef Louis/Sailor/Ensemble) is
attending Western Technical College,
and planning to transfer to UWLa Crosse for a theatre performance
major. This is his eighth LCT show. From his first taste of
LCT life in 101 Dalmatians to working tech on Jesus
Christ Superstar, MacKinley is hooked on everything
theatre. Favorite roles include Lord Evelyn Oakleigh in
Anything Goes (Logan High School) and being part of
the ensemble of Mary Poppins (LCT). MacKinley would
like to thank Greg for his guidance and the opportunity
to “play” with such talented people, his parents for their
love and support, and Annie and Charles for being the
best sister and step-brother-kinda-sorta!

KATYA CARTER (Flotsam) is a
longtime volunteer at LCT and a
first-time eel. She has been in shows
such as The Pirates of Penzance (as a
General’s Daughter), Jesus Christ
Superstar (as an angel), and The Snow Queen (the
titular role). She also is in the sketch comedy troupe
“Live! from La Crosse” and spends most of her free time
making people laugh. She would like to thank her
mother, Euel, Xavier, and Benita for their support!
CASSIE DICKOW* (Mersister/
Ensemble) has never been in a play
before and feels blessed to work with
such a fun and talented cast and crew
for her very first show. Cassie wants to
thank her family for their continual support as she
balances a fulltime job at LHI, rehearsals, and school
work, as she pursues a master’s degree in secondary

JOHN DIVNEY (Sebastian), a
sophomore at UW-La Crosse, is
wonderfully excited to be in LCT’s
production of The Little Mermaid. His
last role at LCT was Neleus in Mary
Poppins. He thanks his astonishingly beautiful Mom
and wishes her a happy birthday! John wouldn’t be here
without her love and support. Thank you.
DENNIS DORMAN (Grimsby) is
delighted to make his third appearance
at LCT. He last appeared in Thoroughly
Modern Millie before traveling with
his wife, Ellie, to Peru, the Middle East,
and Europe. He continues to work as a consultant for
Trane, working on environmentally friendly alternative
refrigerants, HVAC safety standards, and personal injury
legal defense. Behind the scenes, he enjoys working on
set construction for LCT. As always, he wants to thank
Ellie for her support and guidance in balancing family,
business, volunteering, and fun.
AUDRA FUCHSEL* (Ariel) is a recent
graduate of Viterbo University with a
Bachelor of Music degree in vocal
performance. While at Viterbo she
played Cherubino in The Marriage of
Figaro and Cinderella in La Cenerentola, as well as
other operatic roles. She was previously Miss La Crosse
Oktoberfest 2014 and Miss Onalaska 2013. She is
currently employed at La Crosse Sign Company in
Onalaska.
ANDREW HELMAN (Sailor/Ensemble)
is excited to be in The Little Mermaid
here at LCT. He is a senior music theatre
major and photography minor at
UW-La Crosse and has recently been
seen on stage as Bartholomew in LCT’s Jesus Christ
Superstar, and in 8 and Catch Me if You Can at UWLa Crosse. He hopes you all enjoy this fantastic show!

MARIA JOHNSON (Mersister/
Ensemble) is a preschool teacher at
Bethel Little Lamb in Galesville. They
are doing a “sea” theme for the year,
and she is excited have some of her
students come see her as a mersister. Maria has been in
three shows at LCT (The Wizard of Oz, Leaving Iowa,
and The Pirates of Penzance), but this is her first time
acting on stage in the new theatre! She loves getting to
expand her theatre family with each show and is
especially looking forward to gaining some sisters! She
would like to thank her family, friends, and especially
her awesome husband for all the love and support!

ALLISON LANGER (Ensemble) studied

Appleseed Community Theatre). She is excited to be part

ROBERT J. JONES (Jetsam) serves as
co-founder and choreographer of
Grand River Singers. He has worked as
a singer/dancer for Walt Disney World,
Opryland USA, Department of Defense
(USO), and multiple cruise lines. His favorite role was
Gaston in Walt Disney World’s Beauty and the Beast.
Last fall, Robert had the privilege of living the role of
Bert in Mary Poppins.

JOSHUA KAISER (Cabin Boy/
Ensemble) is a seventh grader at
Aquinas Middle School. He is excited to
be performing again at LCT. Joshua
recently played Michael Banks in Mary

Nothing. He loves EVERYTHING about theatre. Josh

MEGAN KLOCK* (Mersister/

UW-La Crosse’s Oklahoma and

years with her local dance studio. She
was active in cheerleading in high school and college

KEVIN A. LAUMBACH (King Triton) is
thrilled to be back on stage with the
LCT! Selected theatre credits include
Legally Blonde (Callahan) at
Appleseed Community Theatre; Noises
Off! (Garry/Roger), The Producers (Franz Liebkind),
Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), Les Miserables
(Javert), and Leading Ladies (Leo/Maxine) at LCT; and
Sweeney Todd (Pirelli) at The Muse Theatre. Kevin also
is a cast member of the “Live! from La Crosse” sketch
comedy group. Kevin has a BFA in music and theatre
from Viterbo University and is a senior proposal
development analyst for UnitedHealthcare in Onalaska.
DUSTIN LUECKE (Sailor/Ensemble)
celebrates his fifth appearance on
stage at LCT. Previous credits include
Jesus Christ Superstar, Twelve Angry
Men and The 39 Steps. Offstage,
Dustin is a morning news anchor on WXOW News 19
Daybreak from 5 to 7 a.m. weekdays. “Thanks to
Dominique, Damian, friends, and family!”
GRACE RINESS* (Mersister/
Ensemble) is more than excited to be a
part of the amazing Little Mermaid
cast. She did four productions with her
high school drama department: High
School Musical, Willy Wonka, Back to the 80s: The
Totally Awesome Musical, and Annie. Although Grace
is relatively new to the stage, she shares the love of art
and theatre that so many do. In her other life, Grace
works at the Children’s Museum while studying visual
communications at Western Technical College full time.
Above anything else, Grace is excited to be a part of LCT
and can’t wait to begin her theatrical journey, and she is
thankful for everyone who supports her passions. SAM SCHNEIDER* (Cabin Boy/
Ensemble) is a seventh grader who is
home-schooled. He played a shepherd
boy in Amahl and The Night Visitors
OWEN SCOTT (Leeward) made his LCT
debut playing Randy (opposite his
actual “old man,” Michael) in A
Christmas Story; the last LCT
production in the old theatre. He is
thrilled to be in a show at the Weber Center. He played
Tiny Tim in a UW-La Crosse production of A Christmas
Carol and a Townsperson in Lincoln Middle School’s
The Music Man. Owen is a fifth grader at Emerson
Elementary and enjoys soccer, Legos, and winter
camping. He would like to thank his family and friends
for their support. Owen dedicates his performance to his
Nana, Marilyn Scott, who recently passed away.
LIBERTY ALTHEA SPRAIN*
(Windward) is a fourth grader at
Coulee Montessori in La Crosse. She has
been in plays with Missoula Traveling
Theatre and was blessed to play Gretl
in The Sound of Music at Viterbo in 2011. She would
like to thank her Mom, Dad, and Marmee for getting her
to rehearsal on time, and Greg for making this show
happen. And, last but not least, everybody else for
“being under the sea with me!”
DALE STAFSLIEN (Pilot) is a retired
educator, having been a choir director
and an administrator. He also has sung
at Carnegie Hall with Robert Shaw and
Andre Previn. LCT shows have included
Fiddler on the Roof and Les Miserables. Other shows,
for the Tomah theatre, have included Forever Plaid,
Annie, and Cheeseheads—the Musical. Dale thanks
Barb and the dogs, Oscar, Felix, and Leo, for “getting rid
of me for a while” and Emily “for putting up with me.

KELSEY TAUNT (Scuttle) has a B.A. in
theatre from UW-Oshkosh and works
freelance, primarily focusing on set
design and theatre education. At LCT
she was recently on stage as Lucy in A
Charlie Brown Christmas and behind the scenes as the
set designer for Sideways Stories from Wayside
School. Kelsey would like to thank everyone involved in
the show for letting her be “a part of your world” for one
of her favorite stories. She hopes it brings the audience
as much joy as it’s brought her. Kelsey also sends a
special thank you to her friends and family.
DYLAN THOREN (Sailor/Ensemble) is
a sophomore at Logan High School.
Outside of theatre, he enjoys
performing and competing with his
school’s varsity show choir group “The
Class Act.” He has been seen on the LCT stage in several
shows. Some of his favorites include The Wizard of Oz

SETH VON STEIDL (Prince Eric) marks
his 25th (and perhaps final) production
in La Crosse since moving here in 2011
to start a bachelor’s degree in theatre
performance. After graduating from
UW-La Crosse in December, he will move to the Twin
Cities with his fiancée to continue a lifelong pursuit of
professional acting/singing. Previous credits in La Crosse
include Catch Me If You Can (Frank Abagnale Jr.), Les
Miserables (Enjolras), Little Shop of Horrors (Orin
Scrivello, D.D.S.), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Jimmy
Smith), and A Christmas Carol (Ebeneezer Scrooge). He
would like to thank everyone involved with this
production for making it “the best yet!”
MATT WUDI (Sailor/Ensemble) is

Production Staff Biographies
GREG PARMETER (Director/
Sound Designer) earned his MFA
from the Johnny Carson School of
Theatre and Film at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln. His acting credits include
seasons with the Nebraska Repertory Theatre,
Virginia Shakespeare Festival, Northern Fort
Playhouse and a tour with Hampstead Stage
Company. Greg is in his seventh season with
LCT. He thanks Mandy, Ben, and Matilda for
their love and support.
YVONNE FREESE (Music Director) is
a recent graduate from Northern
State University in musical theatre
and music education and is pursuing
her career as an actress in the Twin Cities. Some of
Yvonne’s favorite credits include performing with
Garrison Keillor on “A Prairie Home Companion,”
playing Christine in Phantom of the Opera at
Northern State University, Cindy Lou in The
Marvelous Wonderettes at Northern Fort
Playhouse, and Agent Martine in Forager’s
Apprentice at Park Theatre Company, in
Minneapolis. Yvonne is thrilled to be a collaborator
in this magnificent production and would like to
thank her family, friends, and cast for such a
wonderful experience. “Enjoy the show!”
JEN WILKINSON (Choreographer) has choreographed
numerous productions for LCT,
including some of her favorites:
State Fair, Chicago, The Producers, and
Mary Poppins. You also may have seen her
on stage in Anything Goes. In her “real” life,
Jen is a Spanish teacher at Central High
School. She loves spending time with her
“boys,” Liam and Chad, and she appreciates
the fact that they allow her to continue to
pursue her passion for dance. Jen would like
to thank her mom for encouraging her to
become involved in theatre so many years
ago, her dad for being her inspiration (miss
you!), and Greg for giving her yet another
opportunity to be part of an amazing
production.
DILLON MCARDLE (Set Designer/
Technical Director) is LCT’s technical
director. A Viterbo University alum,
he enjoys building things, grilling
out with friends, and blowing snow. He would
like to thank his lovely wife, Megan, and son,
Miles, who mean the world to him.
DAVID R. KILPATRICK
(Lighting Designer) has had the
joy of directing and designing the
lights for several productions. His
most recent light designing project was LCT’s
Mary Poppins. David serves as LCT’s
executive director, as well as manager of
Weber Center for the Performing Arts. He
could not do it all without the love and
support of his family, Barbara and Abigail.
MANDY PARMETER (Costume
Designer) is in her eighth season
at LCT. She received her MFA in
costume design in May 2005 from
the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her work
has taken her from Oklahoma to Washington,
Virginia, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. Mandy
and Greg are looking forward to their son,
Benjamin, and daughter, Matilda, growing up
in the La Crosse community.

BONNIE JO BRATINA (Props
Designer) has worked as a
professor and environmental
microbiologist at UW-La Crosse
since 1997 and has been involved with LCT
almost as long, appearing on stage in Crimes
of the Heart within months of moving here.
Since then she has had parts in a number of
other plays, including The Miracle Worker
and Jake’s Women. “Being on stage is fun,
but I also enjoy the fun and challenge of
making and finding props for shows like
Forever Plaid, Mary Poppins, and this show.
I hope you enjoy it.”
MICHAEL HOAGLAND (aka Hoagy) (Orchestrations) is the CEO and executive producer
for Broadway Show Tracks in New York and
has been producing music for theatres and
entertainment companies since 1996. Hoagy
has also been a guest composer at Columbia
University, a member of the BMI Musical

NICK BRANDT (Assistant Director)
has a BFA in theatre performance
from UW-La Crosse and is working on
his master’s degree in healthcare
administration. When not onstage, Nick works at
Logistics Health, Inc. Over the last half decade,
Nick has appeared throughout the area in roles
such as Peter in Jesus Christ Superstar (LCT),
Kreon in Antigone (UW-L), Malcolm in Macbeth
(LCT), Clifford in Deathtrap (Pump House), Ariel
in The Pillowman (Pump House), and Howard in
Boy Gets Girl (UW-L). “It has been an amazing
journey! Thank you, Greg, for the opportunity!”
EMILY VIETH (Stage Manager) is

Audience Services
Box Office Policies and Procedures
The box office is open 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and
one hour before performances. General admission tickets may
be charged to a credit card or paid for with a check/cash at the
window. Tickets must be paid for at the time of the reservation.
Tickets also may be purchased at lacrossecommunitytheatre.org.
Seat Reservations
All seats should be reserved in advance, including those for
season ticket holders. Reservations for the general public begin
approximately two weeks before the opening of each show;
for season ticket holders about three weeks before the show.
Patron Donors (who have made an additional donation of $75
or more per season) may reserve seats at any time. Season
ticket holders may purchase two additional tickets for guests
for each season ticket purchased, and must be for the same performance the season ticket holder is attending. If you forget or
are somehow prevented from reserving your seats on time, we
will do our best to help you find seats. However, seats are not
guaranteed once public ticket sales begin. There are no refunds.
Please call the box office at 784-9292 if you have questions.
Need to Exchange Your Tickets?
• All ticket exchanges must be done in person at the box office if
your tickets have been printed.
• There is a $2.00 per ticket exchange fee, which is waived for
season ticket holders and Patron Donors.
• Tickets may only be exchanged for another performance of
the same show, not for another show.
• Tickets must be exchanged at least 24 hours prior to the
performance the original tickets are for.
• In case of emergency, we may (at our discretion) allow the
customer to use his or her tickets on another night if tickets
are available. These tickets may not be reserved ahead of
time. The ticket exchange fee still applies.
Unable to Use Your Tickets?
Sorry, all sales are final. There are no refunds. Please return your
unused tickets at least 24 hours in advance of the production
date to receive a receipt for a tax-deductible donation.
Cameras/Recording/Cell Phones/Pagers
The use of cameras, recording equipment, cellular phones and
pagers is strictly prohibited in the theatre. You may check these
items at the box office. Please leave your seat number at the
box office.
Phone Calls
Parents, please leave your seat numbers with your babysitter. If
they need to reach you during the performance, we will do our
best. We do not interrupt the performance to page people for
phone calls.
Flowers
Giving flowers to cast members while on stage is inappropriate.
Flowers may be left in the box office for the stage manager
to deliver or you may hand them to the cast member once he
or she is out of costume. Audience members are not allowed
backstage. If you wish to meet with a cast or crew member after
the show, please wait for them in the auditorium or lobby.
Bad Weather Policy
It is the policy of La Crosse Community Theatre not to cancel
performances due to bad weather. As a result, we urge our
ticket holders to make every effort to attend the performance
for which they hold tickets. Should this prove impossible, please
call the box office as soon as possible before the performance
and alternative arrangements will be made. We cannot guarantee that seating will be available for an alternate performance.
There are no refunds for inclement weather.
Babies and Small Children
We welcome children old enough to enjoy our productions.
For the comfort of all audience members, we ask that children
under 4 not attend productions. Regardless of age, all members
of the audience must have a ticket for admission.
Late Seating Policy
We strive to begin performances on time. Please allow plenty
of time to find the theatre and to take your seat. If you arrive
more than 15 minutes after the show begins, we reserve the
right to release your seat(s) to someone else. There are no
refunds. Late arrivals will be seated at our discretion.
