five young people in a volkswagen van ran
out of gas on a farm road in south texas.
Four of them were never seen again. The next
morning the one survivor, Sally HardestyEnright, was picked up on a roadside. Bloodcaked and screaming murder.
Sally said she had broken out of a window
in hell.
The girl babbled a mad tale: a cannibal
family in an isolated farmhouse...chainsawed
fingers and bones...her brother, her friends

take a disturbing turn when the

being that it is almost 700 years A young man, named Ash, takes his girlfriend Linda to a secluded cabin in the woods
before Knowby was even born. where he plays back a professor's tape recorded recitation of passages from the Book of the
Dead. The spell calls up an evil force from the woods which turns Linda into a monstrous
Deadite, and threatens to do the same to Ash. When the professor's daughter and her
entourage show up at the cabin, the night turns into a non-stop, grotesquely comic battle
with chainsaw and shotgun on one side, demon horde and flying eyeball on the other.

Developing an interest in magic and illusion as a
child, when he was inspired by the 1957 Lon Chaney
biopic Man of a Thousand Faces, Savini spent
most of his youth in his room, inventing characters
and experimenting with make-up techniques.
After studying acting and directing at Carnegie
Mellon University, he went to Vietnam as a combat
photographer for the Army; ironically, he would later
gain fame for simulating on the screen the same kind
of carnage he witnessed first-hand during the war.
Savini first began working as a make-up and special
effects man on horror movies during the early
1970s. Some of his more notable work during that
decade and the subsequent years includes George A.
Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978), and Day of the
Dead (1985), Friday the 13th (1980), the Creepshow
series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986),
Dario Argento's Trauma (1992), a 1995 re-make of
Romero's Night of the Living Dead, which Savini also
directed, and Tarantino's From Dusk Till Dawn (1996).

Summary
In the midst of the Antartican snowfield, the
scientists and workers of a small American
research base are shocked when a helicopter
begins to circle their camp, chasing and
shooting at a dog. When the helicopter is
destroyed and the passengers are killed, the
dog is let into the base and the American's
begin to wonder what has actually happened.
The helicopter has Norwegian markings,
must be from the Norwegian base not too far
from their own. A team of Americans are sent
to the Norwegian base and find out what has
happened. On arrival, they find that the place
has been totally destroyed. They also discover
a mangled body that looks as though it was
once that of a person, which they bring back
with them for further study. It is only then that
the clues begin to add up; the dog morphs
horribly into a strange creature that attacks
the researchers. They manage to fight it off,
but they come to a terrible conclusion: an
alien with the power to transform and take
the appearance of anybody else is amongst
them. Who is infected already, and who can
be trusted? Helicopter pilot J.R MacReady
sets out to find the answers to exactly that.

At a medical supply warehouse in Louisville, Kentucky, foreman Frank tries to impress the company's newest employee, Freddy,
by showing him military drums that contain the remains of an army experiment gone wrong that inspired the film Night of
the Living Dead. Frank accidentally unleashes the toxic gas inside the barrel, knocking them unconscious, and reanimating
a corpse inside a meat locker, forcing the pair to call their boss Burt to help them deal with the situation. The three are able
to dismember the cadaver and Burt decides to bring the remains to the nearby mortuary so it can be burned by his friend,
Ernie. Elsewhere, Freddy's girlfriend, Tina, and his group of friends wait for him to finish work by messing around in a nearby
graveyard.
Despite his initial shock, Ernie burns the zombie remains, unknowingly releasing the toxic gas into the air. Tina goes into the
warehouse to meet Freddy but instead gets trapped in the basement by Tarman, a zombie that escaped from the barrel. The
gas causes a sudden acid rainfall, causing the rest of Freddy's friends to flee the graveyard, only to find that their car won't start,
forcing them into the warehouse. Inside, they hear Tina's screams from the basement, and though they are able to rescue her,
Suicide is killed by Tarman. The group decides to head for the mortuary by crossing through the graveyard, where they witness
hundreds of zombies rising from their graves, causing the group to split up. Tina, Spider, and Scuz make it to the mortuary,

an explosion destroys the remaining cars outside. Burt and Spider join Chuck
and Casey, decapitate Tarman, and enter the basement to use the phone.
After hearing the police being massacred over the phone, Burt decides to
call the number on the military drums, and is put through to Colonel Glover.
When Glover is informed of the situation, he activates a containment protocol
that destroys 20 square blocks of Louisville with a nuclear artillery shell,

Chuck and Casey return to the warehouse, and Trash is surrounded and killed.
Frank and Freddy grow increasingly ill from their exposure to the gas, so Burt and Ernie call two paramedics, who run tests on
them showing they have no vital signs. When the paramedics return to the ambulance, they are devoured by zombies, while
Burt and Ernie learn of the hundreds more outside from Tina, Spider, and Scuz. The group decides to fortify and barricade the
mortuary, resulting in Scuz's death, while backup paramedics and police arriving outside are continually ambushed by the
dead. With Frank and Freddy showing signs of becoming zombies themselves, they are both locked in the chapel, along with
Tina, who refuses to abandon Freddy. Trash revives as a zombie and joins the horde as they move through town feeding on the
citizens.
Freddy turns into a zombie and tries to attack Tina but is blinded with acid by Ernie, who injures his ankle in the process; Frank
uses the distraction to escape and immolates himself in the mortuary furnace. Burt and Spider make a break for a police car
outside, but are forced to abandon Ernie and Tina when they are overwhelmed by zombies. Ernie takes himself and Tina up
into the attic, while an enraged Freddy attempts to hunt them down. Burt crashes the police car outside of the warehouse, and

effectively wiping out both the zombies and the survivors. Glover describes the outcome as optimal ("less than 4000 dead"),
while dismissing the new reports of skin irritation by saying "the rain should wash everything away" in time for the President's
impending visit to the area.

A poisonous Sumatran ratmonkey is taken from a
desert island to a zoo in New
Zealand. Lionel takes his
new girlfriend Paquita there.

– and impact – of his incredibly
influential horror franchise,
including how he came up
with the idea in the first place.

of Swamp Thing and The Hills Have Eyes Part II at the time, he needed to find
something that was truly terrifying. And he found it in real life, so to speak.
The way Wes Craven describes it, he came up with the idea for A Nightmare on Elm Street
after reading an L.A. Times article about a family that had survived the Killing Fields in
Cambodia. They made it to the
United States, but a young boy
in the family still found himself
haunted by terrible nightmares
while he slept. Craven says:
He told his parents he was
afraid that if he slept, the thing
chasing him would get him, so
he tried to stay awake for days
at a time. When he finally fell
asleep, his parents thought
this crisis was over. Then they
heard screams in the middle of
the night. By the time they got
to him, he was dead. He died
in the middle of a nightmare.
Here was a youngster having
a vision of a horror that
everyone older was denying.
That became the central line
of Nightmare on Elm Street."

In the Atlantic Ocean, 16,000 feet deep, the Tri Oceanic Mining Corporation keeps a
eight-men crew with the mission of extracting silver and other precious metals. The
geologist and leader Steven Beck works with Dr. Glen 'Doc' Thompson managing the
miners astronaut wannabe Elizabeth 'Willie' Williams, the prankster Buzz 'Sixpack'
Parrish, Justin Jones, Tony 'DeJesus' Rodero, Bridget Bowman and G. P. Cobb. He is also
the liaison with the Tri Oceanic executive Ms. Martin. In their next to last day, Willie and
Sixpack are assigned to work outside the base and Sixpack falls in a hole. Willie seeks
him out and finds a Russian vessel named Leviathan. Sixpack finds a safe inside the
vessel and brings it to their base. They find money, vodka, a videotape and documents
and Beck keeps the content of the safe. However Sixpack steals a bottle of vodka and
drinks with Bowman. Meanwhile Beck and Doc watch the videotape and the Russian
Captain explains a problem that killed his crew. On the next morning, Sixpack does
not feel well and stays in the sickbay. Soon Doc learns that his patient has a genetic
mutation. When Bowman shows the same symptoms, Beck asks Ms. Martin to rescue
them. But there is a hurricane on the surface and the rescuing mission is not possible.
