Disgraced is the critically acclaimed, Pulitzer Prize-winning current

conversation explodes, leaving everyone’s relationships and beliefs about
race and identity in shards.

Waist Watchers: The Musical!
Produced by Philip Roger Roy and Dana Matthow
December 23, 2015 – January 24, 2016, Stage West
Set in Cook’s Women’s Gym, the show takes a lighthearted look at four
adult women dealing with assorted body image issues by using some 25
popular songs with parody lyrics -- in the same vein as Menopause the
Musical. The show covers issues like dieting, exercise, plastic surgery, sex
over the age of forty, and the relentless search for a positive self-image.
Writer/producer Alan Jacobson has cleverly rewritten the lyrics to popular
songs to suit the subject at hand, including “Botox Queen” to the tune of
ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” “I Hope I Lose It” to the tune of “I Hope I Get It” from A Chorus Line, and
“Viagra” to the tune of “Maria” from West Side Story.
Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook
Produced by Arizona Theatre Company
December 30, 2015 – January 17, 2016, Center Stage
This new romantic musical comedy blends some of the best-loved songs
from composer Stephen Schwartz’s Broadway shows (Wicked and
Godspell) with some of his lesser-known gems. Meet Sue and Dan, a couple
who after 20 years of marriage have drifted apart. Together they discover
a box of photographs that leads them to relive the memories of their past
selves. Snapshots re-imagines favorites from Schwartz’s vast catalogue in
new and exciting ways in a story in which every couple will see themselves.
Becoming Dr. Ruth
Produced by Philip Roger Roy and Dana Matthow
January 27 – February 28, 2016, Stage West
Don’t miss the triumphant story of Karola Siegel, the girl that became “Dr.
Ruth”. When she was very young, Karola was forced to leave her family
and flee from the Nazis in the Kindertransport. With no home to return to
after the war, she joined the Haganah in Jerusalem as a scout and sniper.
She married, became a single mother and moved to America to pursue her
dreams as Ruth Westheimer. Becoming Dr. Ruth is filled with the humor,
honesty and life-affirming spirit of a girl who found her own unique place
in this world as America’s most famous sex therapist. By Mark St. Germain.
Passing Strange
Produced by iTheatre Collaborative
February 5-20, 2016, The Kax Stage
A daring musical that takes you on a journey across boundaries of place,
identity and theatrical convention. Stew brings us the story of a young
bohemian who charts a course for “the real” through sex, drugs and rock
‘n’ roll. Loaded with soulful lyrics and overflowing with passion, the show
takes us from black middle-class America to Amsterdam, Berlin and
beyond on a journey towards personal and artistic authenticity. Winner of
the 2008 Tony Award for Best Book. Book and lyrics by Stew and music by Stew and Heidi Rodewald.
Ghashee w Mashee (the Dumbass)
Presented by NGM Entertainment LLC
February 6, 2016, Center Stage
As if Im Hussein hasn’t already endured sufficient setbacks and struggles to
fill years of stage plays, playwright Najee Mondalek sets her up for another
crisis – dealing with the ignorance of her know-it-all husband. Tucked in
between the lines of the main story are other issues that affect the Arab
American community: divorce for infertility, drug abuse, conflict between
two generations, welfare fraud, and more. Directed by Aziz Charabaty.

Fences
Produced by Arizona Theatre Company
February 11-28, 2016, Center Stage
One of the most beloved plays of our time, Fences tells the gripping story
of sanitation worker Troy Maxson, a star baseball player whose career was
blunted by the racism prevalent in pre-Jackie Robinson America. Feeling
his world rapidly changing, Troy builds a fence to protect what is familiar
and hold off what threatens. Muscular and lyrical, this August Wilson
blockbuster shows what can happen when a strong man is robbed of his
dreams. Fences tells the searing story of a man who stepped up to the plate too many times only to go
down swinging. Fences is a stunning play that is as American as baseball itself.

Swirls around Alexandra, an 80-year-old artist in a showdown with her
family over where she’ll spend her remaining years. In Alexandra’s corner

in her Brooklyn brownstone with enough Molotov cocktails to take out
the block. But her children have their own secret weapon: estranged son
Chris, who returns after 20 years, crawls through Alexandra’s second-floor
window and becomes the family’s unlikely mediator. A wickedly funny and
wonderfully touching discovery of the fragility and ferocity of life.

There are seasons and cycles created by natural phenomena, such as
weather and our solar system, and there are seasons and cycles that are
created by the human presence, culture, and changes in the environment.
Science, religion, technology, and biology all experience shifts throughout
time. Often we only observe these as seasons and cycles when viewing
them in hindsight. This exhibit explores the seasons and cycles of life on
planet Earth as experienced by plants, animals, and humans.

Coexist

We have seen the trendy bumper stickers, t-shirts and colorful symbols in

to exist together peacefully. What does it mean to Coexist? What is our
deeper understanding of living in balance with the natural world? What
struggles and truths are invoked in living peacefully with our fellow human
beings? We grapple globally with a fragile ecosystem, human intolerance,
and widespread injustice. This exhibit features work that tells what it
means to Coexist and how it is intrinsic to the survival of all species.
