For plywood and OSB subfloors, the percentage moisture difference between the hardwood floor and the subfloor must not exceed 2 % with a maximum of 12 % for the hardwood. For concrete subfloors, the moisture content of the concrete should never exceed 4 %. The installer and the floor owner are both responsible for measuring the moisture content of the subfloor and making sure it is within the recommended level prior to installation.
