Makeup classes will be scheduled at the discretion of the Adult Education Director . they reside. Individuals may register for as many classes as they desire. Tuition will be returned if it is impossible to conduct a course or the student decides to drop out of a planned course before it begins. Senior Citizens (60 or over) will receive a $10.00 discount for all 8 week classes and a $5.00 discount for 4 week and seminar classes. Only 1 discount allowed per person. It is a school policy that no one is allowed into the building or any of the classrooms at any time unless they are an Adult Education student. A school calendar that indicates holidays and vacation periods will be distributed at the beginning of each session. C.E.U.’s and P.D.P.’s are available upon request for some courses. Students must be 18 or older and not currently a high school student to take a course or be in the classroom during instruction. Payments accepted by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card. All students will be informed of the fire drill procedures. There will be a $5.00 convenience fee for credit card payments. The student will be exposed to the function of related equipment and support systems and the environmental responsibilities required to safely and properly operate, maintain and manage a Wastewater Treatment Facility. Topics covered include wastewater flow, wastewater characteristics, collections systems, regulations, mathematics, laboratory and various treatment processes. The course will concentrate on preparing the student to take a Massachusetts Industrial, Municipal or Combined Wastewater Certification Exam Grades 1-5. PL-01: Tier 1 program for the licensed apprentice plumber. Course consists of 110 class hours along with a final exam. Licensees must pass tier 1 final exam before continuing to PL-02. *Books available for additional fees. PL-04: Tier 4 program for the licensed apprentice plumber. PL-7B: Dates TBD MA master plumbers and gas fitters, journeyman plumbers and gasfitters, and LP installers are required by CMR 11.00 to compete Session #6 prior to license renewal. This class will utilize IAPMO course curriculum materials which include Board updates, chimney and venting updates, appliance installation requirements, tool and product news, related industry issues, administrative topics, code compliant installation methods, alternative plumbing technologies, and business items that currently effect all licensees. Students need to sign up for both courses and need their license number. PL-06: License test prep. This course is designed for the licensee preparing for the plumbing exam. This program is tailored according to the needs of the students. Extra emphasis focused on areas of weakness. Minimum registration required for courses to run. Also offered (not mandatory or required for employment) is a National Certification by the American Medical Certification Association—AMCA (for an additional fee). The Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Program is a certificate program to help answer the need for qualified assistants in ophthalmology practices. This program is designed to teach the basic skills needed to perform eye exams and prepare the patient for the ophthalmologist. With a combination of classroom teaching and a hands-on clinic in a local ophthalmology office (Advanced Eye Center, 500 Faunce Corner Rd.) this program is designed to give the student a basic foundation of ophthalmic knowledge. Bilingual ability is a plus in the medical field. Also, this course does require some knowledge of basic algebra. PT - 01 Night: Tuesday Pharmacy Technician 14 weeks This course will prepare participants for employment within both the clinical and retail pharmacy practice. Focus will be placed on medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, inventory systems, and regulations affecting pharmacy practice. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to sit for the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam which would provide them with a CPHT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) license. *Book included in price. Students will be required to make a few small projects with step-by-step procedures and instruction. The basics are vital knowledge needed to better understand more advanced woodworking techniques. Safety is stressed throughout. This course includes complete step by step instruction in creating a one of a kind piece such as a Queen Anne step stool and true hand cut dovetail blanket chest, using typical hand tools and modern machined techniques. Students will be required to make a few small projects with step-bystep procedures and instruction. Knowledge gained will assist students in furthering their skills in woodworking. Students are required to do a project that involves the use of circular saw, jointer, radial saw, planer, shaper, and small power tools. The first class will be an orientation to evaluate piece, and an overview of different types of finishes and solvents. Students are responsible for all materials, solvents, and finishes needed. Reconstruction is held to a minimum. This course is designed for the future or present homeowners that are contemplating building, renovating, or repairing their own homes along with general home maintenance. Classes will cover building terminology, replacement windows, code requirements, and drawing techniques to obtain a building permit. Shop instruction will include use of hand and power tools, rafter and stair layout using a framing square. Total progress per session will undoubtedly depend upon prior experience and/or individual’s ability to perform the operations as instructed. This course emphasizes the application of basic skills needed to perform tasks involved in the repair of automobile bodies. Each student will have the opportunity to work with the tools, instruments, and equipment necessary to perform the tasks set forth. DM-01 Non-District: $175.00 Night: Wednesday Diesel Mechanics Lathe Operations—External operations include plain turning, threading, taper turning, also use of lathe chucks. Internal operations include drilling, reaming and threading. Drill press work is also included in the program. *Price Includes Material Fee The students will be taught basic diesel maintenance and service repairs focusing on the most common sub-units of a diesel engine. They will then perform tasks following safe and professional work habits at industry standards. Students will be required to make a few small projects with step by step procedures and instructions. Knowledge gained will assist students in furthering their skills in Machine Shop Technology Milling Operations. Tired of waiting for Detroit to deliver a gasolinehydrogen hybrid vehicle? Just add a hydrogen-ondemand fuel cell to your existing car! Benefits of this emerging technology include: This course will show students how to setup milling machines, proper use of milling machines, and milling machine operations. Students will learn how to customize desktop settings, create shortcut icons, manage files with Explorer, and work with applications. This course will introduce students to Microsoft Excel. Students will learn how to format data and use formulas. Students will also learn how to design charts and how to filter/sort data. Intermediate skills such as absolute references, conditional formatting, and linking cells are also introduced in this session. The student will build, manage and maintain databases containing numerous objects. Use of welding machine for beading, butt, flat, vertical, pipe, and overhead welding are covered in this course.
