CONGRATULATIONS
Once again the newsletter is full of the excellent
achievements and performances of our talented
students. Be it trading vicious blows via words on the
debating arena to the volleyball and soccer fields all
participants are to be congratulated. Special mention to
our Year 7 boys who went so well at the Bathurst Show
indicating, even if it’s your first year here at school
you can shine. Well done boys.
LEVEL UPDATES
Blayney High have for a number of years operated an
Discipline and Welfare system on a level system
determined through positive acknowledgement in the
form of signatures and behaviour consequences in the
form of referrals.
This system has allowed us to make non-personal
decisions on students’ availability for excursions and
school representation. For those on Levels 2 → 4 this
has worked well as non-participation is the result of
these levels. On the positive side by this time of the
year Level 6 is the minimum requirement for sporting
teams, excursions and discos, etc. Some excursions
will carry higher level limitations later in the year.
Recently a few students have been withdrawn from
competitions despite having the regulation number of
signatures. All students must remember – and they are
constantly reminded – that diaries must be handed in to
Year Advisers at the nominated times for update.
Students can re-organise if sick but in building
responsibility in students it is their role to take
responsibility for the “cashing in”. Students must
‘participate” in the system not just go along “being
good” and expect to be included when guidelines have
been set.
It is hoped a valuable lesson has been learnt here and
that no other deserving student missed out through
either laziness or forgetfulness.
P&C UPDATE
P & C Meeting on Thursday Evening, 7.00 p.m. in the
staff room. All parents and caregivers welcome to
attend. If you are able to attend and have any items
that you wish to have added to the meeting agenda,
please email kerryannadams64@hotmail.com prior to
Wednesday morning. Any input is greatly
appreciated. At this week’s P&C Meeting everyone is
encouraged to “bring a mate and a plate”.
Thank you to all the people who cooked for our Staff
Development Day at the beginning of term – the
Blayney High School P&C group made just over
$2700, a wonderful effort by everyone involved.
Special thanks to Jordan Lane and Harry Meek.

Monday, 14th May, 2012
The school entrance is being improved with some trees
removed during the holidays and some new plants
planted under our school emblem.
(Mrs. Meek)
Cookie Dough Delivery
Cookie dough orders will be ready for collection
after lunch on Thursday, 17th May.
Thank you to all who placed orders and we have
raised a profit of $490.
FROM OUR DEPUTY
RED SHIELD APPEAL
Last Friday I had the privilege of attending the launch
of the 2012 Red Shield Appeal in Orange with four of
our SRC representatives. At this launch we heard a
number of testimonials and talks from team members
involved in helping those in our community in need
and at their lowest ebb.
The Salvation Army cannot do this valuable work
without funding and one of their major fundraisers each
year is the Red Shield Appeal.
In Blayney the collection day will be Sunday 20th May.
Last year we had 11 volunteers from Blayney High and
I would love to see this figure higher this year.
Volunteers do not need to work for the whole day –
even an hour or so or a pledge to knock on the doors in
a couple of streets will help.
Information and application forms are available in the
school office for anyone who can spare some time for
this valuable cause.
UNIFORM
The uniform across the school has been outstanding so
far this term but as we all know the weather is only
going to get colder as the term progresses.
Jackets or coats may be worn to school as long as our
uniform school jumper is worn underneath (it should be
clearly visible if the coat or jumper is unbuttoned/
unzipped). Some students also may choose to wear a
second jumper, which is also acceptable as long as the
outer layer is the uniform option.
Many students will begin to wear scarves and beanies.
These are also acceptable but these should be in an
appropriate colour for school – maroon, grey, black and
white are all acceptable.

At Blayney

Everry 4 weeks thhe students are
a able to collect
signaatures from ttheir teacherss in their diarry in
recog

viour. Each
Yearr Adviser theen spends thrree days colleecting diariees
in orrder to updatee the studentt levels for th
he next montth.
It is important foor students too remember that it is theirr
responsibility too submit theirr diary when
n the Year
Adviisers come arround for coollection (Stu
udents may
also submit their diaries at recess or lunch
h during the
updaate days). Stuudents who do
d not collecct their
signaatures or faill to submit thheir diaries drop back a
levell and there iss no opportunnity to go up a level untill
the end

urally if a
studeent is absent during the signature weeek or
colleection periodd their level will
