Schofields Road upgrade
Windsor Road, Rouse Hill
to Tallawong Road, Schofields
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is widening Schofields
Road from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided road,
between Windsor Road, Rouse Hill and Tallawong Road,
Schofields. Tenders for construction were invited on
30 April 2012. Construction will commence in late 2012.
This project is funded by the NSW Government.
Background
Schofields Road is currently a two lane rural road, linking Windsor Road
at Rouse Hill with Railway Terrace at Schofields.
It is proposed that Schofields Road will be upgraded in three stages:
• Stage 1 of the Schofields Road upgrade is between Windsor Road
and Tallawong Road. This upgrade was approved in 2009.
• Stage 2 of the Schofields Road upgrade is between Tallawong Road
and Veron Road. A concept design and a review of environmental
factors is planned for display in late 2012.

• Stage 3 is between Veron Road and Richmond Road.
A concept design is currently underway.
The upgrade of Schofields Road, when extended to
Richmond Road, would be a major east-west connection
between Windsor Road and Richmond Road. A transit
boulevard would meet the future transport needs of the
North West Growth Centre with room for pedestrians,
bicycles, public transport and vehicles. It would service
the new Schofields Railway Station and the adjacent
town centre.
Features of stage 1 of Schofields
Road Upgrade – Windsor Road
to Tallawong Road
• An upgrade from a two-lane to a four-lane divided
road with a wide central median to allow for widening
to six lanes in the future.
• A posted vehicle speed limit of 60km/h.
• Three new signalised intersections at The Ponds
Boulevard/Terry Road, Cudgegong Road and
Tallawong Road/Ridgeline Drive.
• Tallawong Road to be realigned to match up with
Ridgeline Drive.
