Solatube® 290 DS Daylighting System
Measuring 350mm (14”) in diameter, the Solatube® 290 DS delivers
even more brilliant daylight and is ideal for larger living areas and wide
corridors.
Just like a normal window, the amount of light transferred to your room
is dependent on the level of light outside. On a bright, overcast day, a
figure of over 8,000 lumen is achievable – a 60 watt incandescent bulb
provides around 640 lumen. Unlike a window, which is greatly affected
by aspect, because it is located on the roof a Solatube catches light
from all angles – and it’s maintenance free.

unique patented Fresnel lens that
redirects daylight down into the tube
– light that on other systems would
pass straight through and be lost.
And because the light is entering at a
steeper angle, it travels through the
tube more efficiently resulting in more

It’s important to remember that some daylight will be lost each time it bounces
against the inside of the tube. Solatube® Spectralight® Infinity tube material is
99.7% reflective, (the most reflective material in the world) meaning that only
0.3% of light is lost at each bounce with 99.7% of the remaining light continuing
on its path to the room below.
When comparing tubular daylighting systems available on the market, it’s vital
to check the reflectivity of the tubing. The diagram below clearly shows that just
a small difference in reflective value can dramatically affect the amount of light
delivered to your room.

into any ceiling with no visible fixings. The double-glazed unit prevents solargain in the summer months and heat-loss in the winter, and virtually all harmful

and stylish all-in-one ceiling solution for your home. The
powerful in-line fan ventilates your bathroom efficiently
through one ceiling fitting, and can also be used in
conjunction with our electric light kit.
