The reigning three time World 24 hr Champion and 11+ year Suunto Ambassador knows a
thing or two about pain and pushing her limits. Drawing from a background in adventure
racing, Rebecca has a deep well of skills: paddling, rock climbing, biking, navigating, skiing,
and more. Since turning pro in 2001, Rebecca Rusch has proven to the world she has what
it takes to execute any of the above sports at the world class level. After winning adventure
races became routine, she added 24 Hour Solo Mountain Bike racing to her résumé and
proceeded to dominate the sport.
In 2006, Rebecca successfully turned her talents toward endurance solo mountain bike races
while continuing to compete in the toughest adventure races. In 2006, she won the Solo
Mountain Biking Nationals, and took second in Worlds. Winning the 2007, 2008, and 2009
World Solo 24hr Championships cemented her into the history books, as well as putting her
on top of the podium next the cycling great Lance Armstrong at the grueling Leadville 100.
With no end in sight, Rebecca will continue to push herself and others in endurance racing
to be the best.
Rebecca has been a Suunto user since the beginning of her adventure racing career when
the Suunto Vector hit the market. She trains with the Suunto t6c to ensure she is in prime
physical condition on race day. She loves that she can share logs and training statistics with
her coach and keep track of her response to training through the season and from year
to year. Even though Rebecca is a pro cyclist now, she still spends long hours backcountry
skiing, running and adventuring off trail. She uses Suunto ABC products with a focus on the
compass and altimeter features during her adventures.

TRAINING
TRAINING
The Suunto Training Series heart rate
monitors are optimized for any aerobic
activity. Sophisticated, yet easy to use,
Suunto Training devices are at the head
of their game in accuracy, with real-world
features that help athletes and fitness
enthusiasts get the most out of every
workout.
NEW in 2010!
We are proud to present several fresh and improved
offerings in the Training Series Collection for 2010!
At the head of these advancements is the Suunto
t-Series, which becomes even more versatile with
the comfortable Dual Belt and Movescount.com
community, making it the ultimate multi-sport
solution.
Switch seamlessly from indoor to
outdoor activities
Starting in March 2010, the Suunto t-Series
products will come with the Suunto Dual
Comfort Belt, making the t-Series the ultimate
multi-sport solution. The Dual Comfort Belt is
compatible with most gym cardio equipment,
the Suunto Fitness Solution group exercise
solution, and all Suunto heart rate monitors.
NOTE: The Suunto t1c will continue to be
delivered with the Comfort Belt.
New name, new design
The Suunto Training Series products get new
names to reflect their improved design and Dual
Comfort Belt compatibility. Suunto t3c, t4c, and
t6c are now called Suunto t3d, t4d, and t6d.
Movestick moves the data
Suunto PC POD has a new name: Movestick.
It uploads training data to Movescount.com
so users can view and share their training logs
online.

and start sharing and
tracking your moves with
friends.
Movescount.com is a new service
that can provide users with a deeper
understanding of their training,
while engaging and motivating them
within an active online community.
How does it work?
After a workout, members can upload training
logs from Suunto devices to share, discuss,
and get feedback on their progress and moves
from friends. They can also add photos of their
workout from Flickr, videos from YouTube, and
add their workout routes.
Members can manage and view their data
through summaries or training calendars, and
also join and create groups, or just read and
learn from other members.
What more is there?
Members can search and find new places and
tracks to satisfy their need for sports activities.
Workout routes are enhanced with real moves
members have performed, so they can see
which track is the most challenging or who has
the best time.
Training programs are available for members
so they can create, share, and apply these
new programs. Members can also share their
achievements on Twitter and Facebook.
Because it’s online, anyone can start right
away using only their Web browser. It’s secure
and it’s free - whether members own heart
rate monitors and outdoor instruments or not.

Training Effect (TE)
Training Effect is an accurate
measurement of how hard
you have trained. To calculate
your personal Training Effect, Suunto
heart rate monitors use data from your
personal fitness profile and combine it with
a realtime analysis of your physiological
progress in real time. Your heart rate
monitor then formulates your Training
Effect, presented on a scale from 1-5.
See the table on the right for a detailed
analysis of what each number represents:

This workout helps you
greatly improve your aerobic
performance, but only if
followed by a sufficient
recuperation period. Training at
this level requires an extremely
high level of exertion and
should not be performed often.

Training Effect
“I really value the Training Effect analysis. It gives me
great info about my condition and real-time levels of
exertion. Using the software, I can overlay charts from
the same workout performed at different times to
quickly gauge how my training is progressing – and
make accurate adjustments. This is what technology
should be about.”
Jonathan Wyatt, Mountain Runner Legend,
Five-time Mountain Running World Champion
1
Minor
Training Effect
This workout highly improves
your aerobic performance, if
repeated 1 to 2 times per week.
In order to achieve optimal
development, it requires 2 to
3 recuperative workouts (with
a Training Effect of 1–2) per
week.
This workout helps improve
your aerobic performance
if repeated 2 to 4 times per
week. Training at this level
does not yet require the
need for specific lengths of
recuperation time.
This workout helps you
maintain a consistent level of
aerobic performance. It also
helps improve your respiratory
and cardiovascular conditions,
and will allow you to train at a
higher intensity in the future.
This workout improves your
recovery time and basic
endurance when performing
consistently for an hour or
more. In general, though, it
does not significantly improve
your aerobic performance.

The Suunto Coach feature generates a
personalized 5-day training plan that helps
you maintain a balance between workout and
rest times. It makes intelligent recommendations for the
frequency, duration, and intensity of your workouts and
gives you accurate, personalized guidance by prescribing
different training intensities on different days. Using your
Training Effect as a guide, Suunto Coach also maps out an
accurate schedule of when to train and when to rest - and
adapts your program according to the actual days that you
train.
If your activity level decreases, Suunto Coach
monitors and adapts your program automatically.
It adjusts your schedule for the next five days to
ensure you get the right amount of exercise in
each phase of training.

Heart Rate Variation (HRV) analysis
Beat-to-beat interval is the time difference (in milliseconds) between
consecutive heartbeats and is measured from the R-peaks of the
Electrocardiogram (ECG) curve. HRV is the fluctuation in these
intervals. Beat-to-beat intervals and HRV are used by Suunto t-Series
heart rate monitors for calculating calorie consumption, EPOC,
Training Effect, and other important variables.
Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC)
EPOC is the additional amount of oxygen the body
needs to recover from exercise. Previously only
measurable in sports laboratories, EPOC is a scientific
indicator for the accumulated training load of each training session.
Measuring EPOC makes it possible to objectively gauge whether the
training session was sufficient enough to improve your fitness level.
EPOC is also used to calculate your Training Effect.
The other remaining body parameters provided by the analysis
software of Suunto t6d are energy consumption, ventilation, oxygen
consumption, and respiratory rate.

OUTDOOR
Apa Sherpa, Suunto Ambassador and World Record
Holder for the most summits of Everest.
Outdoor
Sports Instruments
Since Suunto’s beginning over 70 years ago,
when avid outdoorsman Tuomas Vohlonen
invented the mass production method for
the liquid-filled compass, our goal has been
to make accurate, reliable, and easy-to-use
sports precision instruments.
Made from both composite materials and
metals, Suunto offers a complete range
of outdoor sports instruments tailored for
adventurous men and women of all skill
levels.
Outdoor
Suunto and Apa Sherpa reach the top of
the world
16
Widely recognized as the world’s greatest living
mountaineer, Suunto Ambassador Apa Sherpa has
reached the top of the world a record 19 times
and in the Spring of 2010 will seek to push that
record to 20. Using his Suunto to make the summit,
Apa has lead teams up Mt. Everest with amazing
success, both in reaching the top and keeping
people safe. Now, Apa Sherpa is embarking on a
new endeavor and once again Suunto will be there
to help the cause.
In the summer of 2010, Apa is returning to his
home village of Thame to improve education and
economic opportunities for the children living
in the remote village near the Base Camp of Mt.
Everest. Suunto will provide support with logistics,
transport and materials for the library and assist the
Apa Sherpa Foundation as they construct shelves,
catalog books and set up a lending system for the
library.
Despite his climbing success, Apa says he would
have planned his life differently. He would give up
his climbing records for a good education and a
career as a medical doctor. Suunto recognizes and
admires Apa Sherpa’s cause and work. By working
together, Suunto and the Apa Sherpa Foundation
strive to provide a solid education for all the
children of Thame.

Sports orienteering compasses
Using your Suunto compass
When flexibility and reliability are essential.
_ Compasses and maps are essential tools for safely exploring unfamiliar regions.
_ Liquid compasses rely solely on the earth’s magnetic forces and will never run out of
battery power.
_ Metal items and strong magnetic fields may cause the compass needle to Stray. Therefore, you should regularly check the accuracy of your compass.
_ Small bubbles may appear in the compass liquid as a result of changes in
atmospheric pressure or temperature. These bubbles will not affect the
functionality of the compass.

_ ”Declination” is the angle between true north and magnetic north. A bearing
corrected with the local declination can be read off the compass using the fixed
or adjustable declination scale. For reference, the local declination can typically be
found on local maps.
_ The vertical intensity and direction of the earth’s magnetic field, or inclination,
influences the horizontal plane of a compass needle according to the latitude of
where it is being used.
_ The complete Suunto range is equipped with liquid-filled capsules for steady needle
operation in two different geographical zones: the Northern Hemisphere (NH) and
the Southern Hemisphere (SH).
_ Selected Suunto compasses feature the Global System – where
the magnet is separated from the needle to compensate for
inclination. As a result, these compasses remain fullyfunctional
in all latitudes and thus can be used for accurate direction
measurement anywhere in the world.

DIVING
Suunto Collection_2010
Dive with freedom
In a sport such as freediving, receiving precise
information is crucial to the diver’s success.
This resonates deeply with freediver William
Trubridge who, in 2008, set two world records: 282 ft with a 3 min. 20 sec. dive time in
the Constant Weight without fins category,
DIVING
G
and an incredible 354 ft in 3 min. 21 sec. in
the Free Immersion discipline, breaking his
previous record set only 3 days earlier. William uses a Suunto to track his depth, descension rate and dive time. These feats would
not be possible without complete trust in his
equipment.

2010 Advertising / Distribution / E-Commerce Policy for Wristops Products
Updated January 1st, 2010
36
Suunto recognizes that our entire dealer network continues to invest their resources and efforts behind those premium products that
allow for maximum return and maintain strong consumer loyalty. Suunto strongly believes that we must continue to offer superior
products that create consumer demand and generate solid profitability for Suunto dealers. In addition, Suunto must continue to recognize
those dealers that offer superior customer service and product selection on a broad level and to curtail free-riding of certain stores on the
service level investment by other retailers.
Suunto has provided this basic Manufacturers Advertising Policy (MAP), which applies to all dealers selling Suunto wristop products.
Suunto has determined that price erosion of our premium products will have an adverse affect on Suunto’s broad dealer distribution
network and on Suunto’s ability to reach consumers in all markets. All Authorized Suunto Dealers should be aware of this Policy as well as
our guidelines with respect to Distribution and E-Commerce – as stated within this Policy.
All retailers should understand that Suunto has the right to select and manage its distribution network and strategy. Changes to its
distribution network may occur at any time. The existence of a vendor-retailer relationship must be a mutually beneficial relationship. The
MAP Policy, Distribution Guidelines, and E-Commerce Guidelines expressed herein are a few of the many considerations given by Suunto
to the continuation of Suunto’s vendor-retailer relationships.
MAP Policy:
Suunto will maintain an updated “Current MAP” list of those Wristop products that fall within this policy. Suunto reserves the right to
update or modify this list at any time.
All Current MAP Products listed will have a MAP retail price. The MAP retail price must be listed next to the featured product in all
advertising. This includes any website or other information distribution method that solicits consumer interest in a listed product.
Suunto reserves the right to approve any advertising or other means of consumer information that solicits interest in the listed products.
Suunto may elect not to continue to supply products in the future to Dealers who (a) are in non-compliance with this MAP Policy, (b) use
advertising phrases or tactics to undermine the legitimate purposes of this MAP Policy (including but not limited to discounts offered
which result in “free-riding” on other retailers’ service investments), (c) use advertising phrases which, in Suunto’s reasonable discretion,
communicate non-compliance with this MAP Policy.
If Suunto determines, in its sole discretion, that a Dealer has taken any action inconsistent with this MAP Policy, which may include
advertising a Current MAP Product below the price listed on the attached Current MAP Products List, then Suunto will take any of the
following actions: (i) cancel all orders from that Dealer for the given Current MAP Products; (ii) refuse to accept new orders for the Current
MAP Products for a period to be determined by Suunto; (iii) refuse to accept new orders for so long as the Current MAP Products appear
on the Current MAP Products List; or (iv) refuse to accept all new orders from such Dealer and may terminate such Dealer’s accounts with
Suunto.
Any advertisement, promotion, consumer program that attaches another product or value added offer (including free freight or any gift
with purchase offer) must be approved by Suunto or it may be deemed a violation of this policy and erosion of the integrity of Current
MAP Products.
Any posting or advertisement to sell new Suunto Wristop products (as listed under “Current MAP”) through the use of any “auction” site
or related method of re-distribution (e.g. EBay, Yahoo Auctions) will be viewed as a violation of this policy, unless approved in writing by
Suunto. Therefore, auction sites are not approved channels of distribution (unless approved in writing by Suunto). The retailer in such case
provides no value-added distribution services in such channel, but can reasonably be viewed as merely a re-distributor to the auction site
“e-tailer.”
Suunto reserves the right to determine allocations for any dealer of all products - at any time.
Suunto recognizes that any authorized Suunto account can make their own decision to sell any Suunto product at any price they choose
without consulting or advising Suunto. Suunto reserves the right to make its own independent decision regarding product allocations and
dealer participation as a member of Suunto’s distribution network – at any time.
Suunto sales representatives are NOT permitted to discuss this policy or make any agreements or assurances with respect to Suunto’s policy
regarding Advertising, Distribution or E-Commerce. This also includes any consumer program or promotion that affects the attached listed
Wristop products. Any questions regarding this policy or any aspect of this policy should be addressed to the Sales Department at Suunto
Sales Offices in Ogden, Utah.
Suunto Collection_2010
Distribution Guidelines
Any sale or distribution of Suunto products beyond the direct-to-consumer retail model that Suunto has approved for a specific Dealer
location, may be deemed “Re-Distribution”. This is a violation of Suunto’s distribution guideline for this MAP Policy. If Suunto determines
that a dealer has engaged in re-distribution of Suunto products, Suunto reserves the right to make its own independent decision
regarding allocations or a specific Dealer’s status as part of Suunto’s distribution network.
Sale of Suunto Dive products is limited to Authorized Suunto Dive dealers only, all sales inquiries must be directed through Aqua Lung
America; 888-81-3483.
Retailers’ value-adding distribution services may be limited to a geographic area and distribution outside such area may be unauthorized
by Suunto.
International distribution, sales, and shipping of Current MAP Products outside of the United States is not permitted unless otherwise
approved in writing by Suunto.
E-Commerce
E-Commerce Partners must maintain “Shopping Cart” technology for full consumer transaction completion and approval/verification
on-line for all products at any time by any consumer. This includes providing an approved, secure consumer site (SSL) for all transactions
and ensuring consumer privacy and fraud protection. This requires an advanced ecommerce platform with no PayPal or Yahoo Store type
systems.
E-Commerce Partners must have an approved product presentation site and consumer education information must be available for
each product listed on the site. This includes, but is not limited to: a full graphic image of the product; Suunto’s specifications on each
Wristop product listed; and an explanation of Suunto’s key Wristop technologies. This will serve to enhance the consumer experience
for Suunto products, as well as maintain the integrity of Suunto’s premium products. “Linking” to the Suunto website for specifications,
graphic images, or other basic consumer education information that Suunto deems necessary to sell Suunto products online is prohibited.
Downloading this information (from the Suunto website) for placement/availability on a designated E-Commerce Partner site is permitted,
with prior approval.
E-Commerce Partners must have the capability for email and consumer information retention, as well as the capability to distribute email
information to their consumer database. To this end, each E-Commerce Partner must work with Suunto in regards to direct-to-consumer
emails to announce and/or feature designated products agreed to by both the E-Commerce Partner and Suunto. Requirements include:
Email response capabilities within one (1) business day, a posted toll-free number on every page, as well as posted customer service hours
on contact page.
E-Commerce Partners must have a dedicated Suunto brand landing page with a clearly posted return policy. This may be used to link
directly from Suunto’s on-line dealer locator.
E-Commerce Partners must be an existing Suunto Wristop account in good financial standing and not be in violation of Suunto’s
Distribution Guidelines or any other established Suunto policy.
Suunto Dive products including all dive wristop models are forbidden from E-Commerce sales.
As an Authorized Suunto E-Commerce Partner Suunto will permit the E-Commerce Partner to use the Suunto name in Google AdWord
searches. The E-Commerce partner will provide Suunto with the AdWord Account #. Strict adherence to MAP guidelines will be enforced
for all E-Commerce partners. Any E-Commerce account that violates MAP will face an initial violation penalty of two (2) weeks deauthorization from Google AdWords, a second violation penalty of thirty (30) days de-authorization from Google AdWords. A third
violation will result in permanent delisting from Google and will terminate distribution.
E-Commerce Partners must commit to agreed inventory levels on all Suunto products that are considered “in-line”, and to an annual
minimum 15,000 USD total business in Suunto Wristop products (at wholesale value).
If an E-Commerce Partner fails to meet the minimum level of total business, Suunto reserves the right to remove the account as an
approved E-Commerce Partner.
Any questions regarding this policy should be directed to the Sales Department at Suunto Sales Offices in Ogden, Utah.
*Please see “Current Price List” for a detailed listing of those Current Wristop Products that fall within the guidelines of this policy.
*Effective January 1st, 2010

5. Normal Out of Warranty Returns
When retailer/distributor receives a product out of warranty (i.e.
outside of the warranty period, evidence of misuse, etc...), their
responsibility is to inform the customer about a charge that may
accompany repairs or replacement. Retailer/distributor/consumer
must contact Suunto USA Warranty Department Customer Service
(1-800-543-9124) prior to any return to obtain authorization
and instructions. Product must be returned to the Suunto USA
Service Center where it will be repaired and sent back to retailer/
distributor/consumer. Return shipment to retailer/ distributor/
consumer will be made after payment has been secured.
6. Instructions for Determining Warranty
+ Check the receipt of purchase or warranty card. Starting from
2002, Suunto products carry a (2) year warranty. Prior to 2002,
Suunto products carry a one (1) year warranty.
+ Check the manufacturing year from serial number 30912345
(2003 week 9).
+ Check the condition.
If major scratches, hits or otherwise mechanical misuses are
indicated, it is not under warranty. If product looks used but no
major scratches are visible, it can be under warranty if warranty is
still valid.
+ When unsure, please call your Suunto contact person.
PLEASE NOTE: A Return Authorization (RMA), number does
not imply that credit or exchange will be issued. It is only an
authorization to return product to us for evaluation. We reserve
the right to reject any return based on its condition or noncompliance with our return policy.
9. Unauthorized or Refused Returns
Suunto USA does not recognize unauthorized returns or exchanges.
Suunto USA reserves the right to refuse packages without a Return
Authorization number.
Suunto Product Guarantees:
1. Suunto Baseplate compasses carry a lifetime
guarantee to be free of defects in material and
workmanship.
2. Suunto Wristop Computers, Handheld Electronics,
and Professional Compasses carry a two year
guarantee to be free of defects in material and
workmanship.
3. Suunto Orca/Pilot Compasses carry a three year
guarantee to be free of defects in material and
workmanship.
SERVICES AND PROMOTIONS
+ If warranty ended over one (1) year ago, direct assumption is that
it will not qualify for warranty repair and a cost estimate must be
given.
No product may be returned directly to Suunto USA without first
contacting Suunto USA for a Return Material Authorization (RMA)
number. If it is determined that the product may be defective, you
will be given an RMA number and instructions for product return.
An unauthorized return (i.e. one for which an RMA number has
not been used), will be refused and returned at sender’s expense.
Authorized returns are to be shipped prepaid and insured to:
Suunto USA/2030 Lincoln Avenue/Ogden, UT 84401. RMA number
must be clearly marked on outside of shipping container. To
request an RMA, please contact Suunto USA Warranty Customer
Service at 1-800-543-9124.
