After a month long hiatus, the motorcycles were back on track at Shannonville Motorsport Park this weekend. The weather was perfect and the racing close despite the long wait to resume racing action on Shannonville’s 2.47 km Pro Track layout. The big winner this weekend was Newcastle’s Elie Daccache. Despite a scary morning practice crash, the Kennedy Motorsports backed rider rebounded nicely to win both of his Pro classes on the weekend. In Pro Superbike action, Daccache jumped into the early lead, only to see the race stopped after a two-­‐rider collision in Allen’s corner, which brought out the red flag and a halt to race action. On the 10-­‐lap re-­‐start, Daccache once again jumped into the early lead, followed closely by Jim Proulx. The two riders battled for the Fusce lmollis
remaining aps with Steve “Doc” Walker in a lonely third place. Behind Walker an epic battle was shaping up tempus
felis.Scavone and veteran road racer Jeff Williams who has recently come out of retirement. between Anthony Daccache managed to hold off Proulx for the win, who had to settle for runner-­‐up status leaving “Doc” Walker on the final step of the podium. Elie Daccache also took the top step of the podium in Pro 6 Cycle& Dunlop Tire, Pro 600 action. Daccache had a race long battle with Unique Cycle backed Jeff Williams to earn the win. In third was Brent Strong who held off Tony Lanni, who had to settle for fourth. One of the most hotly contested races of the weekend took place in Muskoka Brewery, Amateur Superbike racing. “Take Mike For Granite” backed, local rider Mike Raniowski took the early lead, coming under heavy pressure from Chris Brent. Brent chased down Raniowski, taking the lead with three laps remaining, briefly losing the advantage but regained the lead at the latter stages of the race, holding off a hard charging Raniowski for the win. The last step of the podium went to Michael Hood with Kingston Ontario’s Steve Cole in a close fourth, just ahead of Chris Fehr. In Gravenhurst Plastics, Amateur 600 action, Michael Hood took the early lead but was quickly gunned down by Raniowski and Chris Brent. The three riders exchanged the lead position several times and when the dust settled on the final lap, it was Chris Brent with the win, Mike Raniowski in second and Michael Hood taking the final podium position. Local racer Steve Cole crossed the line in seventh position. Ottawa’s Steve “Doc” Walker shattered the record books several times over the weekend in B.O.T.T. Lightweight race action. The Pacific Motorsports sponsored BMW racer again re-­‐wrote the lap record book in his final race, finishing ahead of Hans Van Sleuwen and Leo Foley. Kingston’s Brian Madely finished in seventh aboard his vintage Honda Hawk. Veteran racer Jim Proulx took the win in Open Sprint action with “Doc” Walker taking second just ahead of Jeff Williams. Hans Van Sleuwen finished atop the podium in lightweight Superbike racing with second going to Joshua Thomas. Third place went to Brian Madeley.
