One item from your Bucket List
Establish two annual (permanent) scholarships: one at Saint Louis University and one at TBD in
memory of Coach Glenn Moore. The recipient would be the winner of the annual Dave Levin
memorial.
Favorite Job/Occupation
The good old days at Bell Telephone Laboratories (designed and made telephones) then Sandia
National Laboratories (design and make nuclear weapons). Total years of service-34.
Favorite Vacation Place
New Mexico - every day is a vacation - so much to do and see! Cruises all over the world and West
coast travel.
Since 1963 this happened...
I posted most of the following to the BHS Blog: Since 1963- Married my college sweetheart in
1967. Finished a Ph.D. in Mathematics and my dad would say “you got a BA, MS, and Ph.D.? well that’s only seven letters of the alphabet – come back when you get the rest of the letters.” Two
married kids and one grandson with a granddaughter due later this year. Retired Nuclear Weapons
Scientist (a recluse here in New Mexico). At BHS, Bob Kane, Joe Molitoris, and Glenn Moore were
my Trinity. I am convinced that without their influence I would never have gone to college. Glenn
Moore, Marty Henry, and I have been donating to the annual Dave Levin Memorial award. I have
explored options to make the award more “permanent” and concluded that it takes $25K to establish
an ongoing scholarship at any NJ University, College, or Jr. College. I hope I can someday (estate
planning) manage to establish such a fund and name this award the Coach Glenn Moore memorial.
Dave died December 23, 1962 in an auto accident, and I took over his starting position. I was given
the first Dave Levin memorial at graduation. In 1995 I published an article in the WAMPUS:
“There’s a flag in our gym”. It recounted Dave’s childhood with the late Pete Makosky’s as we grew
up playing BB at the Y, then John Hill, then BHS and the flag in the gym is a memorial for Dave.
Our greatest victory was an upset win over Mt. Lakes on their court on January 29. 1963. (This was
Coach Moore’s son’s birthday.) This broke a 34-game win streak that the powerful Lakers had
started on their home court two years earlier. We were undefeated in the month of January 1963! BB
was not my best sport and Coach Kane was happy if I hit the rim from outside; however, I did make
lay-ups on a regular basis. We lost the magic we had in January 1963, but I still have dreams of those
games and wake up tired. Sweet memories.
Any Military Service? Branch/Dates/General Discussion and/or Deployments
I was granted an educational deferment since I was teaching in East Saint Louis at a special Jr.
College for mostly African Americans. There were gangs, gunshots all day and night, and I have a
recurring dream that my car breaks down on my way home from the ghettos. I was actually scared a
few times in that dangerous environment.

Teacher - middle school math in Boonton
Favorite Vacation Place
Italy, everything about it: food, people, and different parts of the country.
Since 1963 this happened...
I met my wife in college. We will be married 43 years this month. I taught math, was a vice-principal
and principal for 33 years and retired in 2001. I have also been in construction for over 40 years. I
have built over 20 houses since 1985. My wife is still working as a 3rd grade teacher in Boonton.
Two boys went to BHS. My one son, Kevin, is on the BHS wall of fame. In his senior year he was
MVP in basketball of Morris County, 1st team all-state, and took Boonton to the state finals. He
presently works in New York and is a partner in the bond market for Morgan Stanley. He has 2
children. My other son, Keith, also played basketball for BHS. He has a successful landscaping
business in the Boonton area. He has 3 children. My daughter Jill went to Mountain Lakes. (We live
in Boonton Township, and she was affected by the pull out of Boonton Township to Mountain
Lakes.) She was also a four-year starter in basketball. She is married and lives in Rhode Island. She
is a project manager for a marketing firm in Connecticut. Her husband is a lawyer in Newport.
Your Favorite Restaurant
Italian. There are so many in the area. A lot of bring your own wine places. Most of them are very
good.
Favorite Things to do
Spend time with my grandchildren. Travel and play golf. I am a member of Rockaway River
Country Club and also belong to the New Jersey Seniors for private clubs. I am presently a 5
handicap and won the NJ Seniors in 2010 shooting one over par in a two day tournament at Canoe
Brook in Summit, NJ
If Retired, What do you do to keep Busy?
I am still building a house once in a while. I play a lot of golf, go out for dinner with my wife and
sometime friends 3 or 4 days a week. I don’t spend much time on the computer. This is why I am late
filling this out. I work around my house or my children's houses. My daughter is presently building a
house in Rhode Island, so I am spending more time up there now. I am enjoying my family and my
life now. We are all on the back nine and we should make the best of it.

Since 1963 this happened...
Worked in pharmaceutical research before returning to school for Nursing degree. Married, worked
in Nursing/Infection Control and Epidemiology for more than 32 years while raising four children
with husband Henry. All my children were born in April so during the school years I was the
CUPCAKE QUEEN in the month of April. It was a busy, busy, busy time!! In 1983 we moved to
Maine where we had baby number 4 and continued the working parent routine. We lived there for 9
years before moving back to NJ. Would have preferred to stay there! My parents are still hanging in
there at 91 and 89. They still get out and about but it is becoming more difficult. I know what it
means to be a member of the "sandwich" generation. Henry is still working in Regulatory Affairs
and manufacturing at a small pharmaceutical company. He is 71, and he keeps telling me he is going
to retire "in two years". He's been saying that for the last four years! He loves working and it makes
him happy so I'm OK with that. The kids are GREAT! I just keep wishing one of them would
produce a granddaughter so I can teach her my "Martha Stewart" skills....while I still know what
they are!!

Fly in an open cockpit bi-plane (actually, I've now done it twice in a Stearman World War II trainer)
Favorite Job/Occupation
School administrator for almost 30 years, but enjoyed teaching swimming and lifesaving when I was
younger.
Favorite Vacation Place
There are many, but we especially enjoyed the various islands of Hawaii a lot and the coast of
Maine. We've travelled to Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, England, France, Mexico,
Puerto Rico...some several times. I travelled to Europe for two months after I left active military
service and saw most countries including Hungary. Cathy missed that trip as we hadn't really
become a couple at that point.
Since 1963 This Happened....
Cathy and I married in 1975, She is also a BHS graduate (1967). We first lived in a cozy little log
cabin on the Rockaway River in Boonton Township, but after two years we bought our first house
moving to Jefferson Township. Our daughters Allison and Rebecca were born in 1979 and 1982
respectively. We had a house built in Jefferson (Cathy's dream house) and moved about four miles
from our first place. I retired from public education in 2007 after working at Montville High School
(1972-1987) and Livingston High School (1987-2007). Cathy retired from many years of teaching
in 2008. We moved to Virginia Beach in 2010 to be closer to grandchildren and the military
facilities in the Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas. We have a small townhouse in Hackettstown, NJ
where we stay while visiting our younger daughter's family.
As an Eagle Scout, I was involved with scouting for a while. I was scoutmaster of Troop 69 in
Boonton Township while in grad school, but I also served as a counselor for the four aquatic merit
badges. When I moved to Jefferson, I counseled the three citizenship merit badges.
I've been active in church activities as well serving as the Sunday School Superintendent in the
Rockaway Valley United Methodist Church prior to leaving for the Army. In Jefferson, I served as
the chair of the administrative council for over 20 years in the Milton UMC as well as working in a
number of other church positions.
I earned my wings in November of 1973 as an FAA private pilot, but other financial priorities (like a
family) have kept me from being active. I will never forget that day I soloed! What a thrill!
For many years I served as a judicial volunteer for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court in
Morristown. We handled a variety of cases with first-time juvenile offenders. That experience
coupled with serving twice on active duty as a summary court martial officer was the closest I got to
becoming a lawyer…my BHS Yearbook future vocation!
Coming to BHS from Boonton Township was challenging since there were only 16 in my eighth
grade graduating class (12 boys and four girls and a number of them did not attend BHS). So,
suffice to say, the few of us came to BHS not knowing anyone! It was difficult for a while, but by
participating in activities, we slowly got to know many of the Boonton, Lincoln Park and Montville
folks.
I guess I really haven't stayed very close to many fellow students over the years as we all went our
separate ways. I did date one of you for a brief time while I was at Norwich, but have lost contact
with even the few from Boonton Township except for Ruth Ann Huyler Sherman. One of my good
friends, Walter Babbitt died in Vietnam....
So much for the rambling! It will be great to attend the reunion...even though there are still
classmates I didn't really get a chance to know. Maybe now I'll get the opportunity.
Any Military Service?
Graduated from Norwich University-the nation's oldest private military college and founder of
ROTC in 1967. I was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Armor Branch. After grad school, I
entered active duty in 1969 at Fort Knox, KY and served a tour in the DaNang area of Vietnam.
Returned home as a captain. After leaving active service, I joined the NJ Army National Guard
retiring in 2000 as a full colonel with 30 total years of military service. During this time I
commanded armor and mechanized infantry combat units at the company, battalion and brigade
levels as well as serving as the commandant of the NJ Military Academy in Sea Girt. I must have
fooled a few senior officers along the way, for they bestowed on me a number of awards and
decorations. Among them are the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Serve Medals, Army
Commendation Medals, etc. I was also inducted into the Armor, Infantry and Field Artillery
Associations.
I am very proud of my service to my country and state!
(I'm currently working on my memoirs from active duty to share with my family only. I have many
pictures, etc. I was very fortunate to have been assigned to a tactical headquarters (because of my
graduate degree I think) which is one reason I came home in one piece.)
Favorite Food/Dessert
Do enjoy Cathy's brandied chicken and mushrooms! (Getting the chicken drunk is the hardest
part....)
Your Favorite Restaurant

Married to Bob in July 1965 (holy crap...that was long ago!) and moved from Montville to Byram
Township that year. My goal of becoming a Florence Nightingale was dashed the first time I saw
them put a scalpel through someone’s gut. So I worked as a pharmaceutical lab tech until Jeffrey was
born in 1969; then Jenna arrived in 1971. Was a stay at home Mom until about 1980 when I returned
part time to the work force, and have continued to work since. For the past 28 years as a property
manager for a company that manages community associations. Bob retired a few years ago from his
real job, but continues to work part time for a fellow who has his own home construction business.
My greatest joy is time spent with family, particularly our grandchildren. Justin turned 20 this year
and attends Sussex County College. Kelsey is 10, in 5th grade. Samantha is 8 and in 3rd grade. Kids
all live within 1/2 hour of us so we are fortunate to see them often. I love the outdoors and enjoy the
four seasons here in New Jersey. Spring/summer & fall you'll find me in the flower gardens tending
to my other children. You'll never hear me complain about weeding as I thoroughly enjoy keeping a
neat garden! I'm eternally grateful that my parents introduced us to the wonders of Mother Nature,
and walking on our country lane or in the woods is my favorite exercise as I take in all of nature that
surrounds me year round. In the winter I love the snow and go ice skating and sleigh riding with the
kids whenever possible. Used to ski but am a little leery of getting back into it since having knee
repair (not replacement) a couple of years ago. I’m looking forward to retirement in the next year or
so. Will likely be here in NJ 'til "the end" since the family is here (even my sisters live nearby), and
that means more to me than anything else. To sum it up, life has been simple but good. I'm healthy,
happy, and looking forward to more adventures in the future!

I keep busy by doing all maintenance and repair and upgrade on everything I own, from homes to

using the second floor for my model train layouts. I am in the planning stage for building a gazebo.
I am also studying, designing, and testing battery backup and solar thermal and photovoltaic systems
reducing dependence on (and perhaps eliminating) the electrical grid.

we have a hurricane. We stayed there almost five months after Katrina. I like to swim in our little

I was USAF active duty and then USAF Civil Service for 34 total years. I then worked for BAE
until retirement. Final job was the Operational Test Manager for the G/ATOR radar (It’s on line).
Marilyn and I moved to Virginia when I was sent to be a USAF Liaison with the Navy as lead on
some special Joint Service projects. My final Civil Service job had me working as a briefer and
analyst for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense at the Pentagon. Marilyn got
into Navy Civil Service and worked her way up to the Director of the Fleet and Family Support
Center. She was one of the people recognized by then SECDEF Rumsfeld for her work with
Pentagon 9/11 families. She recently retired after 24 years and got some very special Awards from
various levels of Command at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA. Our son, Sean,
graduated from The U of Maryland and went to work with SAIC in support of the Air Force portion
of the Space Program. There he met and married his wife, Monica. They have 2 beautiful bundles
of energy who are easily capable of breaking an anvil. After he finished his Masters in System
Engineering, he was selected for a job at Vandenberg AFB in the missile and interceptor payload/
launch business and relocated to California 1 January of this year.

USAF for 20 years. Stationed all over the world and the states. Found out why I missed all of those
jump shots when a birth defect in one eye prevented me from being in the cockpit. I helped start

named 'Red Flag West'. I was the PACAF Maintenance Officer of the Year in 1976 and got sucked
into the intelligence field as a punishment. Squadron Commander in Omaha. After working with the
German Air Force for 5 years I received special recognition from the Luftwaffe equivalent of the Air
Intelligence Agency as well as a second from the Luftwaffe Chief of Staff.

Hands down, my favorite job was being a mother. I was lucky enough to stay at home two years
after each birth. It was, and still is, a job like no other.
I taught grades 2, 3, and 4 for 37 years,
starting in Atlanta and finishing in Paxton, Massachusetts. I loved that age children - 8, 9, and 10.
Striving to be independent but still accepting of hugs and guidance.
I am now an assessor for my
small town. My daughter, Kate, lovingly calls me "the town ass." I enjoy it though, and it only takes
8 hours a week.
Favorite Vacation Place
We rented a small cottage for many years on Cape Cod Bay in Brewster. In the past ten years, we
ventured to the "Outer Cape" to Wellfleet. Our daughter, Heather, recently bought a piece of land
there and will begin building shortly. Hopefully, we'll get a family discount! I also love visiting
with Jane in Dennis. Yea, we're still "a couple of swells."
Since 1963 This Happened...
Well, let's see... Dick and I live on our twenty acres of land on a dirt road in a small dairy community
in central Massachusetts. We both enjoyed our careers - mine as a teacher and Dick as a counselor
and later as an administrator for unemployment for the state. We had our first daughter after ten
years of marriage. Then another came along. Like most, we had our struggles and our joys. For sure,
the good outweighed the bad. My dad died of a severe heart attack when I was thirty. But my mom
lived to the ripe old age of 99. I was privileged to have her in a nursing home close by for her last
five years. My sister, Karen, who was a freshman when we were seniors, lives in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin. We still are close and get together as often as possible. I had an older sister and brother
too. I have nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a great, great niece and a great, great
nephew! Unfortunately, none live around me. Heather and Kate are the jewels in our crown. Both
have become wonderful adults - I couldn't be more proud of them. Heather was graduated from
Syracuse and is a product designer in Boston. She lives in Cambridge. She works long hours and in
her free time, enjoys rowing (crew at S.U.). She designed her Cape cottage and we can't wait until
it's finished this fall or winter. I hope to be spending some quality time there! She is still single but
has a boyfriend - I wish they would hurry up! Kate was graduated from Mercyhurst College in Erie,
Pennsylvania and worked for several years as a special ed teacher in Milwaukee and Massachusetts.
She just (this week) graduated from Lesley University with a Masters Degree in special education.
She is looking in New Hampshire, but for now she'll stay put in Somerville, Massachusetts. She
comes home about once a month for the weekend. She enjoys checking up on her old, dottering
mom and dad. I'm sure she thinks we have one foot in the grave and can't carry out the simplest
chores. But I love having her home. Dick and I have a 13 foot sailboat that we have fun with. We
take it to the Cape and make circles in Wellfleet Harbor. I own a timeshare in Mazatlan, Mexico that
I trade for other places to enjoy. So we get away about twice a year to new places. Last year, we
spent a week in Provence, France and another in Liguria, Italy (Cinque Terre). We haven't gone
anywhere together this year because we want to spend time in Wellfleet at the building site. All in
all, I feel blessed to live such a wonderful, content life.
Favorite Food/Dessert
Fresh tomatoes and basil from our garden,
a touch of olive oil and salt over hot pasta.

Favorite Things to do
I have so many likes ~ tending to my seven gardens around our property is one of my favorites. I
love to read. I love to plan trips and travel with my family - we've been to Italy and Ireland together,
and next year I'm planning a trip to eastern Germany to see where my ancestors came from. And I'm
taking my two sisters to Ireland to see where the other ancestors came from. I love to drive my car ~
I think Spiotti started that! In a future life, I'd like to come back as a garage mechanic.
Are You on any Social Media?
I am on Facebook, but I don't contribute much. I just enjoy seeing the lives of my relatives and
friends. Sounds a lot like a voyeur, doesn't it?
Favorite Book Current/Classic
Love all genres of books! I just finished Bunker Hill by Nathaniel Philbrick. Some of my favorite
authors are David McCullough, Edward Rutherford, Ken Follett, Adriana Trigiani, Jaqueline
Winspear, Lisa Genova, Patrick Taylor, Vince Flynn... I could go on.
Favorite Movies
I thought "The Heat" was hysterical! We really enjoy watching the English mystery series on PBS.
Also on PBS, I loved 'Call the Midwives'' series as well as 'Downton Abbey.'
If Retired, What do you do to keep Busy?
I really don't know....I know I'm never bored. I enjoy spending time with my friends from teaching,
my friends from town here, my college friends - There are four of us who travel together. We're
going to Africa in January. I like to putter - when I get the cleaning fever, I like to organize my
closets and drawers. I can't stand clutter. My super-duper favorite thing is to be with my family ~
wherever they are I like to be. I have truly enjoyed getting back into the BHS mode - meeting at
Trudy's house last year and becoming re-acquainted with my marvelous classmates has been such
fun. There is nothing like old friends. They're the best!

Favorite Vacation Place
Aruba. We have been vacationing there since 1995. In 2003 we bought a beach house there which
we use for ourselves and friends as well as rent out to other vacationers (www.VillaAruba.com).
Since 1963 This Happened...
Married 44 years, raised two great daughters and now have 4 terrific grandkids, ages 1, 3, 5 and 8.
We started out in North Plainfield, moved back to Montville to raise our kids and after that we have
lived in several other areas around New Jersey. We always liked the Jersey Shore and spent our early
years vacationing there with our kids until we ultimately moved to the shore in the mid '90s. Once
the kids got older, we began vacationing in other parts of the world including Caribbean until we
finally found Aruba. That became our home-away-from-home. Both of our daughters graduated
college with biology degrees. One went on to med school and became a Physician Assistant
specializing in ER medicine and the other became an R&D manager with a pharmaceutical/
cosmetics company. They have both now phased out of full-time work to raise their families. My
wife and I have lived at the Jersey shore for the past 20 years and still enjoy places like Cape May,
Wildwood, LBI, Ocean Grove and yes, even Asbury Park. Believe it or not, we still go to Asbury
occasionally for dinner and even a few concerts at the old Paramount (few people know that Bruce,
Southside Johnny, Bon Jovi and others sometimes perform and practice there before going out on
tour). I have also been involved with classic cars and auto racing over the years. My brother and I
used to restore classic cars (mostly Corvettes) starting way back in the '60s. Unfortunately my
brother (and best friend) passed away in 2001 so after my last restoration (a 1966 "big block"
Corvette) I finally closed that chapter of my life. So now I just enjoy taking the '66 to car shows with
my grandsons. Over the years, I also enjoyed going to many auto races around the country including
the "big one", the Indy 500. At some of those events, I had the opportunity to meet a few legends
like Bobby Unser and Mario Andretti. One of my bucket list items was to actually drive open-wheel
race cars which I was finally able to do at Nazareth, PA raceway back in the '90s. It was the ultimate
"rush".

After I left rehab for the sixth time, I began to take up the lute, which I played poorly with an
ensemble of likewise maladjusted ex-hippies. Later on, I took up trout fishing, but soon give it up
when I learned I was expected to eat the trout. There are so pretty, I couldn't bring myself to do it. I
move around a lot with the encouragement of my neighbors. I think it may have had something to
do with the roosters, or maybe my pet water monitor, but I'm not sure. In any event, I got to see the
world, such as it is. I can't think of anything meaningful to share with my classmates, except that I
remember almost all of them fondly. We lived in a Goldilocks time between the war and subsequent
periods of ever increasing self-indulgence. Somehow, we survived.. Most of us survived. Too
many haven't, and I miss them. Let's get wild at our reunion!

Lynda and I started dating in 1962. She grew up all the way down the block from me in Lincoln
Park. We were married in 1967 while I was in the Navy stationed on board the USS Wasp, home
ported in Boston at the time. Our first child, Tim, was my coming home present. I was separated
from service on August 14, 1968 and Tim was born several hours afterwards. In 1968 I started my
career in the financial services industry as an agent with the Prudential Insurance Company. I
remained with the Prudential for thirty years when I took an early retirement and moved on as an
independent adviser affiliated with TFS Securities, where I still place my securities business. Lynda
and I had five children altogether. Being a husband and dad has been the most challenging and
rewarding part of life. And adding eleven grandchildren to the mix has made life much greater than
anyone could have ever thought that it could be. With Lynda's passing to Lymphoma in February
2011, the family has become even more important not only to me, but to all of us. Our holidays are
full and robust when the twenty one of us gather for times of celebration and great cheer. It is hard
to believe that it has been fifty years since our high school graduation. Life sure has changed
dramatically with time, but so worth the living.

US Navy: USS Wasp CVS 18 out of Boston, MA. The highlight of my service on the Wasp was
participation in the space program as the prime recovery ship in the Gemini space program. We
picked up Gemini XII with James A. Lovell, Jr. and Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr. If you have never seen one
of these space capsules it is hard to imagine how two grown men could have spent two weeks in
such tight confinement. Speaking of military service, I would like to bring to remembrance Walter
Babbitt, one of our class mates who gave his all in Viet Nam.

Editor’s note. This is part of a string of communications with Richard. I received his permission to
use it here.
Richard has over 10,000 hours of volunteer work in Florida and was honored by the State of Florida.
He was appointed by two Governors to serve in that area of the state. One was from Tallahassee
from the State of Florida Human Rights Advocacy Committee for serving as chairperson for
monitoring of group homes & day programs and for investigations of abuse, neglect and exploitation
of both public and private facilities that receive public funding. Two were from the Florida
Department of Children & Families, District Five, for the same. Also one from the State of Florida
from Health and Rehabilitative Services for monthly instruction for HIV/AIDS educational
instruction at the County Juvenile Detention Center. One from the county for Enhancement of
Facilities for Leisure Activities serving on the Persons With Disabilities Act Committee.
Editors second note here. Here is an excerpt from an email to me verbatim.
I kept bugging the state (ED - about an inmate he was counseling on HIV+/AIDS) and he was finally
released to me on May 1st and stayed in my home until he died in late October. I ended up learning
to do more things then I was expecting; including doing chemotherapy IVs twice a day. I’m not
exactly crazy about needles so this was a challenge I had to get over. Another one of my endeavors
that I hadn’t mentioned was going monthly to the Juvenile Detention Center to do a couple of hours
of HIV+/AIDS teaching with those little darlings there as well. Also forgot to mention that I
received certification in Legal Case Management for mentally retarded individuals in the Criminal
Justice System. What a change in profession from being a master planner for 26 years with MackWayne/West Company in New Jersey and then up to my ass in social services here in the Sunshine
State.

Editor’s Note: Retha sent me a card and a bio write up done professionally to accompany her at
exhibits. She said that I could use this info. I have copied and edited it and am pleased to present it
to the talented Class of ’63.
Retha is a late comer and self-taught artist. She had some experience with clay and silver jewelry
making. With a masters degree in psychology and counseling, she found herself teaching art in an
Atlanta school. Inspired, she attended Georgia State University and her portfolio resulted in
acceptance to the drawing and painting department. She was influenced and encouraged by Ralph
Gilbert, presently head of the College of Art at GSU. Retha studied with Atlanta artists Ben Smith
and Delores Kennedy. She benefited from workshops by Don Andrews and Patricia Antonuci (NYC
and Italy). Approached to sell by galleries in Atlanta and NYC (Soho), she has been reluctant to put
her works for sale with some exceptions. She has donated paintings for charities, e.g., Lake Toxaway
Charities, New Leash on Life, Women of Vision, and World Vision. She sells reproductions for
framing and four different packs of cards. She shows new works at the annual October Lake
Toxaway Art Show and the August Lake Toxaway Art & Craft Show. Retha has a love of drawing
and naturally gravitated to water color, mainly self-taught. Recently, she experimented with water
color on canvas. The North Carolina Mountains have been a second home for 25 years and
inspirational. She likes to paint a multitude of subjects, still-life, landscapes and always a fascination
with people and the human body. It pleases her that no matter what the subject, people recognize her
distinctive style. Her goal is that the lively colors and subjects make you happy and put a smile on
your face

Still working! The most fun job was 40 years ago, and nothing matched in for pure fun since. I was
an instructor in Demolitions and Mine Warfare at the Army Engineer School when it was at Ft.
Belvoir. The job involved taking a class to the demo range about 3 afternoons each week. It was like
chem lab, only outdoors, and the problem involved things like breaching a concrete wall, making a
crater, using a Bangalore torpedo to breach barbed wire. After the thing was set we go back to the
bunker, and nothing happened until I said "fire the charge." Every day was 4th of July.
Since 1963 This Happened...
Not much to say. I left the Army in '73. Business trips that were a year-long and 30,000 miles away
weren't suitable for the family, and I ended up building a financial services business. My baby just
entered college so I am still working.
Any Military Service?
Editors note: Earl and I have lunch regularly and he left this blank. He spent several years in the
Army and flew over 1000 hours in combat in Vietnam mostly in UH-1 Hueys. His demolition/
engineering work was in Germany. Just thought you would like to know this. I am very proud of his
service.

Since graduating university, I have worked exclusively in the architectural engineering business,
doing virtually everything except architecture or engineering. Half of my career has been spent

Lorna and I have been together for almost 15 years. She brought to the marriage 3 wonderful boys,
who are now all college graduates and on their way to hopefully wonderful lives. I brought to the
marriage my own two wonderful boys.
Some Interesting Facts: I've experienced a coup, an
attempted coup, and a revolution during my years overseas. I once took a motorcycle trip through
West Africa from the Cameroons to Liberia, via Upper Volta. In a 2-month period in 1968, I went
from being a bartender in Parsippany (the Old Barn), to having Thanksgiving in Sunnyvale, CA, to
becoming a student at Foothill College near Sunnyvale—all to be near a woman who immediately
moved to Kentucky. This changed the direction of my life forever and for the good.

Tony and I have a blended family with his 2 boys and my daughter, Julie and son, Ron. We have 9
grandchildren ranging from 17 - 8. Of course, all are beautiful and smart.
We retired to Cape Cod where we fish, clam, swim and have fun. This is the house that I always
disappeared to during our high school summers. I've been here for 55 years. I have 2 nieces here both were taught by Warren Curd. I am the matriarch of my family as all before me are gone now. I
try to watch over not only my children but my sister, Judy's, children - all from Towaco, right next to
my house there.
Tony is fighting multiple myeloma right now and is having a stem cell transplant in a week. He will
not be at the reunion for that reason. He's doing remarkably well.
I have been active in the IFAW Stranding network here on the Cape. We help, as volunteers,
stranded or injured whales, seals, sea turtles and dolphins. Also, worked a few years back, as a
docent on a whale watching boat out of Provincetown. I also volunteer at the Cape Cod Museum of
Natural History in their aquarium room.

If Retired, What do you do to keep Busy?
Last four years helping elderly in-laws and special needs sister-in-law with everyday life, so that
keeps my husband and I very busy. Other than that, golfing, have done some traveling, writing
letters to my grandson in the U.S. Navy, helping with transportation for youngest granddaughter
when needed and everyday normal life responsibilities at home.

I have moved around over the years, mainly due to job transfers of my then husband (I have been
divorced many years now.), but moved here from MN 23 years ago and decided to stay. My three
children are all grown and have families of their own. They currently live in Seattle (but relocating
to NC), Nashville, TN and my older daughter lives here in Carmel. I am fortunate enough to still be
working and enjoy my job. In my spare time I like to go to movies with friends, read and eat out
when possible. I am currently home recuperating from hip replacement surgery August 14.

Carl and I are both retired, married for 28 years. Thank goodness we travelled when we were
younger as we both have health problems that prevent us from doing all the fun things we used to do.
I enjoy reading and gardening and whatever else I feel up to. Carl volunteers at the local VFW post.
Enjoy spending time with grandchildren, when they have time, as they are always doing something.
Glad we spent a lot of time doing things together when they were younger and healthy.
Cathy married to Curt James for 16 years - two children, Nicole-28 married and living in Maryland
received her teaching and Masters at Towson University in 2012 and started teaching third grade,
last September. Has wanted to be a teacher since she was in third grade! Kacy- 23 - dating Franco
for 7 years and working at a law firm as a paralegal. Cathy works for a company doing arbitration
hearings for small businesses and travels constantly.
Janet married to Todd Eggert for 27 years, two children, Todd III-21 and Jacqueline-18. Todd has
his own plumbing business and Todd III works with his dad learning trade. Jacqueline graduated
Dover High School in June and will be attending County College this year for graphic design and
transferring to Parsons School of Design in sophomore year. They have two boxers, Charlotte and
Lucas. Janet is constantly on the go between kids, dogs and Todd's business.

After years of caring for my family, which I'm still doing, I'm trying to focus more on taking care of
myself. I've been married twice and have a beautiful daughter and two grandchildren - girl 4 1/2 and
a boy 3 1/2. My 2 1/2 year old niece and 1 1/2 year old nephew live with me. I'm surrounded by
little ones and I love watching them grow and learn and use their imaginations. I'm still working
part time for a real estate development company, and I enjoy the people there very much. I love my
family and my friends and feel that that’s what life is all about. One day I hope to find someone
special to share the rest of my life with.

I have been teaching and coaching at the Lawrenceville School for nearly 40 years. Prior to that I
taught at Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut and Moses Brown School in Providence, Rhode
Island. I married at age 46 and have three (step)children: Christine (35), Shane (34), and Philip (17).
While I was an only child, my wife has three younger brothers, so upon marriage I was blessed with
an instant extended family. A great bunch, 25 strong counting nieces and nephews, we vacation
together every summer (I am writing this from Nags Head, NC). I will teach for two more years and
then retire at age - I can't even say it out loud - seventy. We will continue to reside in the village of
Lawrenceville.
Any Military Service?
I did not serve in the military; however, my father-in-law is a West Point graduate. I have been to
