These influential women and men determined the early history and culture of America. The Revolutionary War was fought here, commanded by General George Washington. In the 1800’s, The Hudson River School of Painters was the first art movement in the United States, and in the 1900’s the environmental movement started in Orange County as residents fought to preserve Storm King Mountain. Explore a place so rich in history it has America’s first Registered National Historic Landmark.
