2013 HANDBOOK & TIDE TABLES
PARK AND LAUNCH SERVICE
With our customized tractor, experienced operators, our fantastic
slipways and dedicated pontoon berths we provide the best and most
efficient trailer launch and recovery service possible with a choice of
three packages to suit all budgets and requirements.
Package 1
Basic daily / weekly launch & recovery service
for trailered vessels up to 8.5m LOA. We launch /
recover vessels on our slipway with an experienced
owner on board. This service does not include
berthing, discounted fuel, fresh water rinse or
engine flush.
Package 2
Summer launch & recovery service for trailered
vessels up to 8.5m LOA (1st April and 31st October –
7 months). With a minimum of 3 hours’ notice we
will launch / recover your vessel using our custom
tractor or forklift with your road worthy trailer,
we will then carefully berth your vessel within our
marina ready for you to use. When you’ve had
enough fun simply tie up alongside one of our
dedicated berths & let us know your finished,
we’ll then recover your vessel, flush the engine
with fresh water using engine muffs, power rinse
the hull and trailer with fresh water, re-fit your
tailored summer boat cover and, if requested top
up your petrol tank(s) with unleaded fuel at pump
price less 3p per litre. Price also includes weekend
berthing and outside storage ashore when your
boat is not being used.
Package 3
Annual launch & recovery service for trailered
vessels up to 8.5m. This package is the same as our
‘summer launch & recovery service’ but with the
additional benefit of being safely stored with other
park and launch vessels throughout the winter
freeing up your driveway. You then have the ability
to use your boat year round taking advantage of
having the river to yourself whilst the water is still
warm in the autumn together with the great winter
fishing.
We are ideally suited for wakeboarding and water
skiing enthusiasts due to our proximity to the
South Woodham Ski Club and miles of flat,
sheltered water skiing areas. The River Crouch is
also a great river for angling, especially at the
entrance of one of its many creeks with several
species regularly being landed.
If you are water skiing or wakeboarding you will
need to abide by the Crouch Harbour Authority’s
rules and bylaws – guides and information can be
obtained free of charge from our marina reception.
For your own safety and the safety of others, all
vessels will need suitable 3rd party insurance, you
may need a minimum qualification depending on
your intentions and a weekly / annual license will
need to be pre purchased via the Crouch Harbour
office (see page 15).
Please see reception for guidance on preferred
tow ball locks and wheel clamps as some models
do not lend themselves to our efficient Park &
Launch service.

FAMBRIDGE YACHT HAVEN
‘VALET BERTHING’ SERVICE
FAMBRIDGE YACHT HAVEN
‘SUMMER SWING’
BERTHING SERVICE
Our very popular Summer Swing service is the
2nd of our swinging mooring / marina berthing
packages.
Our unique and very popular Valet Berth service is
the 1st of our swinging mooring / marina berthing
packages.
Between the 1st April and 31st October, Valet Berth
holders’ enjoy the convenience of being able to
'Step On Board & Go' from our 120 meter visitors
pontoon whilst also being able to relax knowing
that when not in use, your boat is safely secured on
a swinging mooring at the Yacht Station. With just
two or more hours’ notice during working hours,
our staff will carefully collect your boat from its
secure swinging mooring and have it safely
alongside the fully fendered pontoon ready for
you to load up stores prior to setting off.
Between the 1st November and 31st March, Valet
Berth holders’ enjoy fantastic out of season sailing
with the greater convenience of berthing either
alongside our Yacht Station pontoon or alongside a
finger pontoon within our sheltered marina. Valet
Berth holders also have the freedom of laying up
whenever they wish.
Summer Swing berthing is designed for swinging
mooring holders who wish to continue using their
boat well into the winter season without having
to consider the logistics of getting family and
equipment aboard once our complimentary
weekend launch service ends following the last
weekend in October. From 1st April through to
October 31st you will enjoy the use of one of our
excellent swinging moorings together with our
complimentary weekend & bank holiday launch
service, then from the 1st November to the 31st
March you will be able to enjoy the convenience
and shelter of one of the superb pontoon berths
within our marina. Summer Swing berthing is also
ideally suited to vessels taking part in the North
Fambridge Yacht Club winter racing series and
classic yachts of timber construction by providing
a sheltered winter berth
afloat and not allowing
the hull to dry out over
extended periods
ashore. As with Valet
Berthing, Summer Swing
berth holders’ may lay
up ashore at
any time.

We operate an ‘open site’ policy which allows you
greater choice to bring any contractor onto site
without paying any penalty or commission to
the yard (subject to contractor suitable 3rd party
insurance).
Both the marina and Yacht Station have excellent
road access for large boat transportation, with easy
rail links to London and London Southend Airport.
Our storage customers may also make use of our
very convenient, complimentary customer
workshop facility which can be found adjacent to
our maintenance workshop. Here you will find a
sheltered work bench, lighting, 240v power points,
large vice and 'rusty tool' recycle facility.

APPROACH & NAVIGATIONAL INFORMATION
Navigational Information
If possible, it’s always best to call ahead to reserve
your visitors berth at Fambridge Yacht Haven, we
can be contacted either by VHF Channel 80 or by
telephone. For our marina dial 01621 740370 or for
our Yacht Station dial 01621 742911
Fambridge Yacht Haven is located at North
Fambridge on the north bank of the River Crouch
approximately 6nm upriver of Burnham on Crouch
(Posn: 51deg 38.55’ N, 0 deg 39.9’E).
The marina is set within Stow Creek where access
can be gained at all states of the tide depending on
vessel draft. Approaching from seaward, pass
through Burnham Fairway on the south (port hand)
bank of the river and pass Essex Marina and the
commercial Baltic Wharf at Wallasea Island also on
your port side. The river is wide and deep right up to
North Fambridge, but keep clear of Bridgemarsh
Island, a very large area of flooded marshland on
the north (starboard) side of the main river channel,
which can be entirely submerged on very high tides.
Approaching North Fambridge you will see
Fambridge Yacht Havens’ ‘Yacht Station’. You will
see our mid-river moorings ahead of you, our 120
metre visitors pontoon on your starboard side and
South Fambridge on your port side. If approaching
at night, our 120m visitors pontoon is easily visible
with two single, green flashing navigation lights,
one at either end (FL(3)G.4s). For Fambridge Yacht
Haven marina pass our swinging moorings (keeping
towards the south side of the river as traffic can be
busy around our visitors pontoon on the north side)
and continue upriver for another half-mile where
you will see a single special mark known as ‘Stow
Post’ in the mouth of Stow Creek on your starboard
side, at night Stow Post is lit with a single flashing
yellow light (QF(4)Y.8s). Enter the creek leaving
Stow Post to port and keep within the buoyed
channel leading towards our marina on the
starboard side.
The River Crouch and approaches are well marked
with lit channel markers as far as Baltic Wharf,
Wallasea Island. Upriver of Baltic Wharf is not lit
for approximately 5nm until you reach our visitors
pontoon and Stow Post.
Speed Limits
Please observe the 8 Knot Speed Limit through
Burnham, past Wallasea Island/Baltic Wharf to
Creeksea and also through our North Fambridge
moorings, you may need to further reduce your
speed to reduce wash when passing through
moorings. Other parts of the Crouch and Roach are
also subject to speed limits. The Speed Limits are
clearly marked on buoys. Please also navigate at
slow speed (below 4 knots) at all times within Stow
Creek and our marina, observing the ‘no wash’ rule.

2013 HANDBOOK & TIDE TABLES
THINGS TO DO ASHORE
North Fambridge is a very peaceful village, the
residents are very friendly and this reflects well on
the marina where our excellent staff, tenants and
berth holders work in a friendly & relaxed
environment. Within the village, adjacent to the
entrance to our Yacht Station you will find the
famous Ferry Boat Inn, an excellent traditional
village pub serving great food all year round.
The Ferry Boat Inn is now under new management
with an international football link as one of the new
owners is Ray Parlour, the infamous ‘Romford Pele’!
More recently, the new management of The Ferry
Boat Inn have also opened The Ferry Boat Tender
(formally ‘Natajacs’) offering food, drink and
entertainment within the marina.
North Fambridge is on the main railway line from
Southminster to London Liverpool Street station,
this superb rail link is a very convenient way to see
our surrounding area, remember – our staff will
gladly collect you and your luggage or drop you
off at the village station free of charge.
If you have a day to spare:
• A popular place to visit is Maldon, once a very
busy ancient port and is steeped in maritime
history. Have a walk around Hythe Quay and see
the huge collection of original Thames Barges
and maritime museums, take part in one of the
evening ‘Ghost walks’ or dine in one of the many
superb restaurants.
• Hire a ‘Dan Bike’ from marina reception and use
this to help you collect stores or visit the local
towns & villages. Our local trains are bike friendly
and we have miles of foot paths to explore.
If you’re really keen, why not take up the
‘Fambridge Five Challenge’, your chance to win a
T shirt by visiting five destinations during your
visit making use of a ‘Dan Bike’ and local trains,
ask at reception for further information.
• The famous, historic sailing town of Burnham On
Crouch is only 15 minutes (or two stops) away on
the train heading towards Southminster, or
depending on how fit your feeling, a pleasant
3-4 hour walk or 1-2 hour bike ride along the level
sea wall from our Yacht Station, taking in all the
sights along the river as you go. Burnham has
several excellent restaurants, a railway museum,
a town museum, many yacht clubs and a selection
of well stocked chandlers. It’s also a great place
to stock up on general stores from one of its
many shops and supermarkets (a gate has been
installed to allow quick access directly into the
Five Ways supermarket from the railway station).
• South Woodham Ferrers is one stop away on the
train heading towards London, here you will find
Marsh Farm and a very large 24 hour ASDA
supermarket. Marsh Farm is a working farm
where children can get close to farm animals and
play safely in one of their adventure play areas.
There is also a Country Park, which boasts
excellent coastal walks and superb views of the
River Crouch.
• Battlesbridge is the next stop after South
Woodham Ferrers, here you will find restaurants,
a large antique centre, several antique shops and
a small motorcycle museum.
• Take the train to London, you could be in central
London within an hour and will then be able to
walk along the casual South Bank, visit Covent
Garden or take in a show to name only a few of
the 1,000’s of things to do in our exciting capital.
Local Tourist Attractions
Marsh Farm Country Park – South Woodham Ferrers
Mangapps Railway Museum – Burnham On Crouch
Three Rivers Golf & Country Club – Cold Norton
Blackwater Leisure Centre & Swim Pool – Maldon
Tropical Wings Butterfly Centre – S. W’dham Ferrers
Museum Of Power – Langford, Maldon
Madison Heights Entertainment Centre – Maldon
Fambridge & The Crouch Wildlife
Most Visitors to Fambridge Yacht Haven are
intrigued by the wildlife surrounding the salt
marsh and variety of birds around both sites.
Intertidal mud is very valuable for the local wildlife,
providing abundant food for oystercatcher, curlew,
redshank & black tailed godwit birds. In the river
itself you will often see birds such as red-breasted
mergansers and cormorant (the sea chicken!). Seals
are occasionally found feeding on the rich fish and
invertebrate life of the estuary and often find their
way into our marina.
Why not take a walk down to ‘Blue House Farm’
which is only a 10-minute walk from our marina and
is to the east of our Yacht Station. It is set within a
601-acre site and was purchased by the Essex
Wildlife Trust in 1998. The farm is listed as a site of
special scientific interest, and is a very important
stopover for wildlife, particularly over wintering
birds and also for coastal plants and insects. They
provide a comprehensive leaflet on all aspects of
the local habitat for wildlife enthusiasts. The
reserve is open all year, although the permissive
path through the reserve is only open from
April 1st – October 31st, you can contact the
warden on 01621 740687.
