What Is The Oklahoma Confederation Of Clubs
The Oklahoma Confederation of
Clubs is an association of various
Oklahoma biker clubs and organizations based in the state. Members of the Oklahoma Confederation of Clubs include motorcycle
clubs, riding clubs, motorcycle
ministries, motorcyclist rights organizations and other biker-related
groups. The principal focus of the
Oklahoma Confederation of Clubs
is to inform its members of oppressive legislation impacting citizens
who ride motorcycles, and to educate their members on how they
should respond to that legislation.

The US Defenders
Within the Oklahoma Confederation of Clubs are committees and
groups formed to carry out special tasks in the Oklahoma biker
community. The US Defenders is
such a group. What does the "US"
in US Defenders stands for? Does
it stand for the "United States" or
"us" as in you and me?” It stands
for both!
The US Defenders is a grass roots
faction of Oklahoma biker manpower intended to provide an efficient way to organize and rally a
rapid response to legislative issues
that are of concern to all motorcyclists. The US Defenders are also
positioned to provide emergency
assistance in case of flooding, tornadoes, Amber Alerts, etc. to local
communities when called upon by
community disaster authorities.
The Strategic Alliance
The Strategic Alliance consists
of various Oklahoma motorcycle
ministries and service-related
groups coming together to form
an alliance representing greater
unity and communication between
Oklahoma bikers. Although these
groups and associations are separate in nature their goals are much
the same.
The purpose of the Strategic Alliance is to help identify and provide services to the Oklahoma biker community as a whole. These
services include weddings, prayer
support, hospital visitation, counseling, jail visits, funeral services,
food ministry, sobriety support,
and other support type services.
The Strategic Alliance also helps
promote and facilitate unity and
fellowship during specially scheduled events, unity rides, conferences, etc.
The Oklahoma Confederation of
Clubs meets on the first Sunday of
every other month at 1:00 pm. The
meetings are held at different locations throughout the state. If you

COPPERHEAD RUN RIDE
Copperhead Run is one of the very
best rides in Oklahoma. The run
itself doesn’t officially start in Pryor, but that is where I like to begin.
My friends and I usually meet at
Joey’s Motorcycle Shop. You can
get last minute items needed for
your bike or person at Joey’s. Travel
from Joey’s east on Hwy 20 towards
Lake Hudson and Salina. Continue
east on Hwy 20 until reaching the
stoplight. When you turn left you
will officially be on the infamous
Copperhead Run.
Ride cautiously for the next fourteen miles. You are going to encounter sixty-nine curves according to Spavinaw Police Chief Butch
McDonald. I can’t tell you how
many curves there are because it is
difficult to count when the ride is
this much fun. If you love twisties
– this is for you!
As you come off the hill and around
the horseshoe curve be sure to stop
at the beautiful state park spillway
– reminiscent of a large waterfall.
Leaving Spavinaw you will see the
park like Copperhead Run Rally
site on your left. Also, now is the
time to get gas at the T-Store on
your right at the stop sign.
You have just successfully completed the Copperhead Run Ride.
There is a lot more to see in the area
so spend some time riding Grand
Lake. You will be glad you did!

and $100.00 for the entire

these tickets reserved and
paid for by May 1st to get the
discount. After May 1st ticket
prices will go up to $80.00
for either 1st or 2nd half party pass and $120.00 for the
entire 10 days! So make sure

HOW TO RIDE SAFELY IN A GROUP
Contrasting to riding by yourself,
pack riding can be especially hazardous because you have motorcycle riders in front of you and
behind you, and typically, safe distances are not observed. Pack riding involves placing your trust in
the other bikers in the pack. One
wrong move by any biker in the
pack can take out the entire group.
Many of you have probably been
on poker runs or at biker events
where you ride with a bunch of
bikers you do not know. Although
it’s fun to ride with a pack of other riders, you must presume the
other bikers are inexperienced
riders. I have myself witnessed
bikes crashing into the back of
other bikes during group rides. I
also have witnessed riders swerve
into other bikes causing severe accidents. When I am riding with a
pack of strangers I prefer to stay in
the back at a safe distance.
I was once riding with a couple
when it began to rain. They were
on the inside lane and turned unexpectedly in front of me into a
parking lot without signaling. The
pavement was damp and slick. In
horror I quickly twisted my throttle and jumped the curb trying to
get in front of them. My passenger’s boot clipped their saddlebags
just as we veered around a set of
gas pumps. Had I not been paying close attention, and had hit the
brakes instead of the throttle, we
would surely have had a disastrous
crash.
There are three types of pack formations: (1) Side-by-side (you better know who you are riding with
to do this); (2) Staggered; (3) Freefor-all. I propose that all group
rides be done in the staggered configuration because it is the safest
formation for pack riding.
A staggered formation is where
one person is on the left part of the
lane, then the person behind him
is riding about 1-2 seconds behind
on the right part of the lane, then
the person behind him is riding 1-2
seconds behind him on the left part
of the lane and so on. See the diagram for example.
The staggered formation should
only be performed when it is safe.
If your pack gets onto an undersized country road or on twisties,
the pack should switch to a single
file formation. Single file is when
everyone rides behind the other at
a safe distance.
I believe the two safest places to
ride in a pack ride is in the back
or in the front. They both have disadvantages but the disadvantages
are significantly outweighed by
the dangers of being in the middle
of the pack. If you are leading the
pack you will be able to see the
road hazards better than anyone
else allowing you to better avoid
them. However, if you have to
brake hard, there is a very good
chance that the riders behind you
will rear end you. I have lead many
pack rides. There is nothing scarier
than the sound of tires screeching
behind you when you slow down
or stop!
Riding in the back allows you to
keep a safe distance from the rest
of the pack. If there is an accident
you should be able to stop in time
before you hit your fellow riders.
The bad part about being in the
back is that you cannot see the
road conditions in the front of you.
If the pack is doing proper hand
signals, they should be pointing to
rocks and other debris on the road
before you get to it. Another disadvantage to being in the back is
that if you are not keeping a safe
distance, and a rider goes down
in front of you, you may not have
enough time to avoid the rider.
Riding in a pack is one of the most
exhilarating things you can do as
a biker. It is also one of the most
deadly rides you can ever experience. Go out and enjoy yourself,
but exercise caution at all times!
I am not going to go into an explanation on biker hand signals
for riding in a pack. Instead I
have included this chart of the
recognized hand signals used by
bikers in a pack. When you ride in
a group make sure you use these
hand signals at all times.

The Ozark Moonshine Run is
one of the most scenic motorcycle rides in the Ozarks. This
ride is 110 miles long with
662 curves. The route includes
parts of Hwy 7 and winds
through the deepest parts of
the Ozarks. Take your time
and enjoy the scenery. Along
the route expect to see dazzling
views, prehistoric bluffs, and a
myriad of wildlife. Be careful
of the many twisties. They can
be very tricky and dangerous.
I believe you will find this to
be one of the best rides in the
United States. Don’t miss it!
