Gold WCH 1985. Silver OG 1984, WCH 1983. Bronze WCH 1987, 1989. Coach Gold WCH 2010, 2005. Was held in respect as an excellent centre during his playing career and gained similar esteem on the bench. Participated in the 1984, 1888 and 1998 Olympics, two Canada Cups and five World Championships, winning gold medal at the World Championship in 1985 and at the Winter Olympics in 1998. Played with men´s team of Litvínov and Dukla Trenčín and made his way to the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers during the 1989/90 season. Traded to Boston in 1990, „Rosie“ played three years with the Bruins and finished his NHL career after two seasons with the Ottawa Senators in 1994. Scored 82 goals and 167 points in 233 regular-seasons Games before joining EV Zug in the Swiss league. Moved to Slavia Praha late in the 1994/95 season. Made his comeback with the national team in 1998 and was a captain of the Czech squad that won the Olympic gold medals in Nagano. Retired in 2000, recording 431 goals in 680 elite-league games. Tallied 112 goals with National Team. Honoured with the Golden Stick Award for the country´s top player in 1986 and 1988. After hanging up player´s skates, he became director of hockey operations with Slavia Praha and was named head coach in November 2000. Later took over a post of the general manager with the team. Won the Czech league championship with Slavia Praha in 2003 and 2008. At the international level, he served as Czech Team Assistant Coach at the 2002 Winter Olympic in Salt Lake City and since 2002/03 until 2003/04 season. Named head coach of the Czech Team in 2004, 2008 and 2014. He led the Czech Team to gold medals at World Championship in 2005 and 2010 and to the 2004 World Cup of Hockey semifinals. 10 ONDŘEJ WEISSMAN ASSISTANT COACH Born October 28, 1959 in Duchcov, Czech Republic Assistant coach Gold WCH 2010 and 2005. Bronze OG 2006. Played left wing and defense in the Czechoslovak elite league for Litvínov since 1975 until 1990, with the exception of two-year service with Dukla Jihlava. Won Czechoslovak championships titles with Jihlava in 1983 and 1984. Spend the 1990/91 season in Zoldo, Italy. At the international level, he won silver medals at the 1977 European U18 Junior Champinships and at the 1979 World U20 Junior Championships. Skated 4 games with the Czechoslovak Men´s National Team. Coached midget team in Teplice before joing Ivan Hlinka as an assistant for the elite-league of Litvinov in 1992. Coached also junior teams of Litvínov and served with senior squad as head or assistant coach again since 1997 until 1999. Moved to Slavia Praha as an assistant in 2000. Helped the Prague team to win Czech Extraleague title in 2003. Named assistant with the Czech National Team in May 2004. Won gold medals at the 2006 and 2010 World Championships and bronze medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Italy. Became assistant with the Czech U20 Junior National Team and rehired as assistant coach with the Czech National Team since 2008 until 2010 and since 2014. 11 JAROSLAV ŠPAČEK ASSISTANT COACH Born February 11, 1974 in Rokycany, Czech Republic Player Gold OG 1998. Gold WCH 2005, 2001 and 1999. Bronze OG 2006. The former excellent defenceman played with HC Rokycany, HC Škoda Plzeň, Färjestads BK, Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks and the Montreal Canadiens. He played in 941 games in the NHL, registering 86 goals and 287 assists. He advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup finals with the Edmonton Oilers in the 2005/06 season, and he won the Swedish championship with Färjestads BK in the 1997/98 season and the Czech championship with HC Škoda Plzeň in the 2012/13 season. He played in 118 games with the national team, scoring 8 goals. He participated in three Olympics (1998, 2002, 2006), six world championships (1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005) and the World Cup in 2004. He is the Olympic champion from 1998 and world champion from 1999, 2001 and 2005. In the 2012/13 season, he won the Czech championship with HC Škoda Plzeň, where he was the assistant coach and later also a player. After the 2014 Olympic Games, he became coach Vladimír Růžička’s assistant with the Czech Republic’s national team. 12 MARTIN PRUSEK GOALIE COACH Born December 11, 1975 in Ostrava, Czech Republic Player Gold WCH 1999. Bronze WCH 1998 and 1997. As a goaltender, he played with HC Vítkovice Steel, Grand Rapid Griffins, Binghamton Senators, Syracuse Crunch, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, HC Znojemští Orli, SKA St. Petersburg, Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Riga and HC Olomouc, among other teams. He played in the NHL, KHL, AHL and in the elite Czech league, where he was a runner-up twice (1996/97, 2010/11) and bronze medalist twice (1997/98, 2000/01). He played in 27 games with the national team. He participated in four world championships, where he helped to win one gold (1999) and two bronze medals (1997, 1998). He retired as a player in 2011. He was later also a goaltending coach with HC Vítkovice Steel, the U17 national team, and since 2014 he is also the goaltending coach of the Czech Republic’s national team. 13 SLAVOMÍR LENER GENERAL MANAGER Born March 10, 1955 in Beroun, Czech Republic Coach and assistant coach Gold OG 1998. Gold WCH 1996. Bronze WCH 1997 and 1998. Slavomir Lener started playing hockey in Dobris. Hockey was not his only interest, as he was into football and tennis, as well. After finishing high school, he moved to study for a coaching degree at Charles University in Prague under the guidance of the respected coach Vladimir Kostka. During his military service in Jihlava, he helped with coaching of the local senior and junior teams. He had spells at Jihlava B (1980-81) and CLTK Prague (1981-86) before being employed by Czech Ice Hockey Association. He spent some time on an internship in China, but moved to Canada in 1990. Lener was working at Hockey Canada before joining NHL’s Calgary Flames as an assistant coach. He spent seven years in the NHL, working for Flames (1992-95) and Florida Panthers (1998-2002). Lener became involved with Czech national teams, leading juniors to semifinals at 1996 World Junior Championship in Boston. In 1996, Lener together with Luděk Bukač guided Czech senior team to gold medals at World Championship in Austria, followed by two bronze medals in 1997 and 1998. He was together with Ivan Hlinka coach of the famous team at 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, leading Czech Republic to the arguably biggest victory of their hockey history. Lener later enjoyed some time as a head coach of the national team, working at 2003 and 2004 championships in Helsinki and Prague, respectively. In the meantime, his club career in Europe involved Sparta Prague (1996-98 and 2004-05), Düsseldorf in Germany (2007) and a couple of clubs in Sweden – Lulea (2005-07) and Linköping (2008-10).
