They’re also more likely to spend some of their retirement years alone due to divorce or widowhood. We will discuss what special issues affect women, and how they can prepare for a secure and financially stable retirement. Susan Cooke from Granite State Financial Services will provide insights into some of the generational differences between women, and how various demographic, social and workplace changes impact women in significant ways. Susan Cooke recently joined Granite State Financial Services in Nashua where she works primarily with families and small business owners, Susan prides herself on developing long term relationships by providing quality service and offering objective solutions to meet both the short and long term needs of her clients. Susan is a graduate of the University of Vermont and Johnson State College with a Master’s Degree in Education. As a member of New England’s Leaders Association, her local and state association of Life Underwriters, a student of Chartered Life Underwriters and Chartered Financial Consultant, Susan continues to increase her skill and knowledge in the areas of personal and business planning. Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce recognized outstanding leadership in several area businesses and community leaders at the 23rd Annual All Star Award Dinner recently at the Alpine Grove in Hollis. Former Red Sox pitcher and Hall of Famer, Bill “Spaceman” Lee was the guest speaker for the dinner. Amy Wheeler, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber and VP, First Colebrook Bank presented the awards. J.P. Pest Services, Business of the Year for 2011, was honored for the company’s commitment to community service through the three generations of leadership through the business. Joe and Chris Pestana were on hand to accept the award. Small Business of the Year was presented to David G. Sturm, Councilor at Law, PLLC, in recognition of the volunteer efforts and support of local small businesses provided by principal, David Sturm. Sue Lozier Robert, owner of Frederick’s Pastries, is the Business Leader of the Year for 2011. Robert grew up in the business, working with her parents. Since purchasing the company, Frederick’s Pastries has expanded to three locations with her leadership.
