Page 1 The Congo 17th August 2016 lidcongs@gmail.com www.lidcombechurchessoccer.com Results of matches played 13th August 2016. Under 6’s played Guildford McCredie at Phillips Park Under 7’s defeated Wentworthville Uniting (Gold) 3-1 at Freame Park In a preview of next seasons Under 8’s team, all of the Congs Under 7’s players joined forces to take on Wenty (Gold) at Freame Park. With the entire team playing well, Lidcombe opened the scoring when Isaac Alameddine ran away after good lead up play from Benjamin Garzon. Wenty came back at the young Congo’s leveling the scores. Lidcombe then settled to control the game with two further goals from Isaac Alameddine ensuring the young Congo’s would finish 2016 with a win. While the entire team played well, stand out performers were Nivesch Balenthiran, Semih Yener, Aaliya and Arielle Naloku. Bring on 2017 and the “BIG” field! - The Under 7’s players before their last game of the season. Under 8’s lost 0-2 to Kings Old Boys at Phillips Park Under 10’s lost 2-4 to Guildford McCredie (Black) at Phillips Park This was a free-flowing, end-to-end contest where the Congos created the most number of shots at the opposition goal, of any of their games this season. The Lidcombe side's two goals were both scored in the second half by Zubin, one from the penalty spot (given when Zubin was brought down inside the box) and the other as the result of a persistent and strong run down the side of the field, which was finished off with a shot into goal from far left. The whole side worked hard in defence and attack, showing Page 2 The Congo non-stop enthusiasm, this match once again showcased the improvement made by individual players. The Congs team put up with a bit of sledging in this event (one of the opposition players received a yellow card) but rose above those tactics to make the match competitive and entertaining to watch. There was plenty of willing and good-natured encouragement from parents and supporters on the sideline, which has been a great part of all the Congos U10 matches this year. Other features of the matches 17th August 2016 this year have been the sustained effort put in by the players, and the closeness of many of the results, with one or two goals being the margin on most occasions. With this in mind, the Lidcombe U10 team has made the other teams in the competition really earn their points, and in doing so made great progress themselves as a team. Well done and thank you to the players and parents / supporters for your involvement this year, as noted in this Newsletter the next gathering of the team will be at the Presentation Day in October. lidcongs@gmail.com www.lidcombechurchessoccer.com Lidcombe CSC is on facebook. There were, unfortunately, a couple of heated exchanges between the two teams and an injury to one of and congratulations were the order our players, understandably because of the day for the Congs and their of the pressure they were under to undefeated season. perform. At the end of the day it was all water under the bridge when handshakes Under 14-4’s lost 0-2 to Rouse Hill at The Hills Centenary Park The 14-4’s were again let down by their team mates when only nine players made the effort to turn up for the last game of the season. If the entire team was committed to playing every week then we would have most certainly finished in the top two. Instead we failed to make the semi finals and have no one but the players who pick and choose their games to blame. Under 15’s defeated Pendle Hill (White) 10-1 at Binalong Oval Attention Presentation Day Coaches and Managers The clubs Annual Presentation / Picnic Day will be held at Phillips Park on Sunday 30th October.
