Space is limited. (includes marbling supplies) Day1 1 Day Marbling basics: preparing your paper and using the tools to create a variety of patterns, both simple and intricate. Make exciting one-of-a-kind papers for collage, book making or stationery. Marble sheets of blank watercolor paper with patterns that leave areas of paper showing. Try marbling cloth, a silk tie or hard object. Day Day2 2 Bring paintings — anything you think could be enhanced by marbling. You’ll choose a color palette and how much of your painting to obscure. Overpaint your marbled paper with watercolor technique. René will work with you to consider composition and color, as you tie together your underpainting and marbled layer with a top layer of paint. Start a painting on a marbled sheet of watercolor paper or continue creating marbled paper for future work. The floating paint is then transferred from the water onto paper, fabric or other surface. MARBLING MAGIC what is supplied 10 sheets of thin marbling paper and 2 sheets of cotton cloth will be supplied, plus acrylic marbling paints, smaller individual trays shared larger trays and shared marbling tools. what to bring Sheets of watercolor paper — either hot or cold press and both 300# and lighter weight paper work. Watercolor or acrylic paintings that you are not happy with as is, to explore what happens when marbling over the top. Optional: white cotton or silk cloth (prewashed) or silk necktie Watercolor paints, brushes, palette, water pot, pencil, eraser, blue or other low tack tape, tracing paper & white gouache. An old towel & roll of paper towels Rubber gloves to protect your hands A pen or x-fine sharpie marker for labling your work Sissors Wear old clothes, an apron or smock and even old shoes, as the paint and water will fly! Bring a lunch This will be a FAST PACED workshop — so be prepared to move quickly. You will find marbling to be easy once you learn how. Warning: Marbling can be addictive!
