RICKY’S TIPS
All WOOD OR COAL FIRE PRODUCES CREOSOTE,
especially in an airtight heating system. The use
of unseasoned or resinous wood creates further
creosote buildup. Normally, these deposits are
flammable sticky tar-like substances and, if left
unchecked, creosote deposits can drastically
reduce the efficiency of a heating unit or cause
a dangerous chimney fire.
Rutland’s creosote control products changes the
creosote into a brushable ash. Deposits fall to the
bottom of the chimney for easy removal. Be sure to
check elbows often for blockage as creosote begins
to loosen.
Use of our products does not eliminate the need for
a regular professional chimney cleaning. For best
results, and maximum safety, we recommend a
professional chimney cleaning along with preventive
maintenance program using one of our creosote
control products.

Our duct cleaning brushes are designed and manufactured for cleaning air ducts or other applications where
a vigorous scrubbing action is not required. The floppy polypropylene bristles provide a gentle action that
dislodges build-up in duct systems, allowing easy removal with a HEPA vacuum. Duct cleaning brushes made
