Easter is always a special and exciting time for the children and staff at Shepherd’s Field.
Keeping with our annual tradition, Teacher Wang and the other teachers dyed eggs in
the Little Lamb’s School with the kids on Thursday afternoon, before the big egg hunt on
Good Friday. While the older children were hard at work with the dye, the kindergarten
and preschool kids joined the festivities with their markers and stickers. They enjoyed
decorating their eggs, but it looked like they had more fun decorating each other! The
primary children experienced the magic of writing on eggs with white crayon, and
enjoyed watching their silly messages appear through the dye. And we all smiled at the
sight of Grady, all dressed up in his favorite suit to celebrate the day’s events. What a good young man he’s becoming.
Despite blustery, cold weather on Good Friday, the Easter egg hunt was a lot of fun for everybody. It’s always a joy
preparing a special day for the children and watching their faces light up from new experiences. The staff hid 400 eggs,
then paired off with the kids for the search. All of us at Shepherd’s Field love to build these kinds of memories with the
children, but we always pray and wait for forever families for all the kids. In the meantime, we just love them like our
own. Thanks again for your loving partnership, which enables us to continue touching the lives of these precious orphans.

Laying a Foundation
Cool Siberian winds blew in a team of 16 volunteers from Missouri and
Oklahoma to Shepherd’s Field Children’s Village to replace flooring in two
children’s homes. Real Wood Floors, based in West Plains, Missouri, donated
the materials and coordinated a team of professional installers to lay the new
hard wood floors. Many of the team members were repeat volunteers having
installed wood floors in three other children’s homes, the school, and outreach
center. Friends and family members also traveled with the Real Wood Floors
team and conducted art lessons and tumbling classes for the school-aged
children.
Real Wood Floors has a unique business model in which a significant portion
of its profits are donated to charitable causes. Shepherd’s Field partnered with
Real Wood Floors three years ago to enhance the campus’ facilities for the
orphans entrusted to our care.
“Our business is centered around ‘responsible stewardship’,” said Sam Cobb,
CEO of Real Wood Floors. “Not only do we believe our company must be
stewards of our environment through intelligently designed flooring and forest
sustainability, we believe our company is called to be wise stewards with how
our profits are used,” said Cobb.
“As Real Wood Floors conducts business in China, we
strongly believe it is our responsibility to give back in some
way,” explained Cobb. “Partnering with Shepherd’s Field
was a perfect fit. We feel very blessed and honored to have
the opportunity to care for the least of these in the eyes of
many - the orphan. We hope to continue this relationship
for many years to come.”
