Dear BELIEVE! Unit,
Are you ready to take on the world? Have you found your dream, and
are you ready to do what it takes to make that dream a reality this
year? I know you can do it if you want it badly enough and are willing
to pay the price, as Mary Kay used to say. Some of you may be
asking, what exactly will my price for success be? That is entirely up to
you and how big your dreams are.
For some of your sister consultants, it may be as small as a few hours.
These will be spent making a few phone calls a week to coach and
book classes, follow up with customers for sales, and mail deliveries.
For some, it will be reaching out and sharing the Mary Kay business
opportunity for the first time in addition to holding classes. For others, it
will be choosing to work smarter by planning each week, working
effectively, and making each moment count towards directorship,
Queen's Court, or whatever their dream may be. It will mean working
where they are- whether that's warm chatting in line, making calls while
waiting to pick your kids up from practice, or setting aside a power hour
each day. Whatever activity you decide to invest in your business, you
will see wonderful results.
The most important step towards any goal is to start. If you think about
it, my guess would be most of us have never been approached in
public by a beauty consultant. We've met ours through classes, a
friend, or family member. If that's true for us, imagine how many
women are out there just waiting for their own personal consultant. I
hear women at classes saying how grateful they are for someone to
teach them how to apply makeup or about personalized skin care,
because they've never had that before. Take a moment to reach out to
those women you see all the time at your favorite restaurant, hair salon,
or any place you frequent. We chat non-stop with strangers about the
latest trends, fashion, and health food. Why not take a moment to offer
your expertise? You'd never be offended if an accountant, clothing
expert, or health guru approached you offering free advice, so why not
offer your professional opinion? Make it your goal to get a certain
number of "no's" this month. I'm sure you'll be surprised by how many
"yeses" you'll receive as well.
The rewards of having your own Mary Kay business are endless. You
have the freedom of being your own boss, charting your own path and
relishing in your sweet successes. You can brighten many women's
lives by offering great glamour tips, girlfriend time, and an opportunity
of a lifetime. It's an amazing opportunity for personal growth,
advancement opportunities, and positive sharing situations. The best
part- you are in business for yourself but never by yourself. Your Mary
Kay family will always be there encouraging you to succeed, believe in
you, and take a chance on your dreams. I believe in you, and I know
you can achieve your heart's desire by Seminar 2015. Let's make this
year our best

Can You Afford A
$5,000 Chair?
“Come see my $5,000 chair,” a
salesman friend said to me the
other day. I was somewhat
startled. He is not a person who
would spend $5,000 for a chair.
Nor did the chair look expensive.
I suspected he was joking, but he
was quite serious. Here’s his
explanation!
“This chair cost me $5,000. I have figured out that
is what it cost me to sit in it the past year when I
should have been out selling.”
His story impressed me. I hope it impresses you,
too. I would like for you to take a look at your
favorite chair right now. If you are sitting, get up
and look carefully.
Now, how much will that chair cost you? While you
are sitting in that chair, you could be making $50,
$100, $1,000 sales. Keep on figuring. The sales you
miss while sitting in your chair can mean losing out
on your top commission. How many customers will
you fail to call because you are sitting in that chair?
The cost of the chair adds up pretty fast.
What are you going to do about it? Well, you could
put a price tag on it to remind yourself of what it can
cost you. I hope you will never be comfortable in
that chair again. Every time you sit in it, I want you
to think how much it is costing you in earnings,
prizes, or awards. A successful Consultant doesn’t
have a $5,000 chair in her home. Can you afford to
have one in yours?

August Birthdays
We’re lucky enough in Mary Kay to get two new
years, and two opportunities to restart our
dedication to our dreams. Let’s make Seminar 2015
our year of adventures! Let’s share more, warm
chatter more,
and see what
happens!
Make sure to
offer our
amazing
opportunity
wherever you
go. It could be
the opportunity
to try our great products, book a class to get things
free, or pursue a career that could change her life.
It’s time to step up, and step out. No more hiding in
the office. Make deliveries to your customers at work,
with balloons. It’s easy to both make her feel really
special and get referrals by offering her the
opportunity to turn her order into free products with
outside orders. Each adventure will bring its own
opportunity. The two go hand in hand. By reaching
out, you may
discover so many
things you’ll love
about your career in
2015! You’ll never
regret the things
you try, but you
may regret never
giving your Mary
Kay business all
you have. Eleanor
Roosevelt tried to
do one thing a day
that scared her.
Imagine what your
future can hold if
you do too. Let’s
make this year our
very best!

I've always believed
that women could be
successful and
feminine at the same
time. Our Company
began when women
had begun to lose
faith in their ability -or didn't have any -and so they decided
that the only people
that were successful
were men. And I just
thought they were on
the wrong track.

1. Be wary of negative people. Cease to talk about your Mary Kay career with people who are always
dumping on you. They could be your best friend, relative, another Consultant, husband or your boss
at work. Talk about other things. It’s amazing how these people want to tell you about your Mary Kay
career and yet they probably are in the 97% who made less than $25,000 last year.
2. Always remember fast is best. Work the numbers. It’s OK to be crazy for a while in this business.
You don’t feel as many bumps on the way up!
3. Learn to work with clear-cut deadlines. Whenever I see a Consultant who is not where she wants to
be, I know she has not learned to be a deadline person. Be careful you don’t sell out your dreams
just because it gets tough!
4. Be realistic. How hard are you willing to work?
5. Make a commitment. Eliminate all other options.
6. Loosen up. Are you having fun? Ask yourself, “If I’m not having fun, how can I attract other people to
this?”
7. Remember – if you don’t do it, someone else will . . and is . . .
8. Someone needs to see you do it first so it will be believable to them.
9. Remember, you are not only special, you are gifted. Gifted is from God, and you must share that gift.
Give it away. Don’t forget the parable of the talents: that which we don’t use is taken away.
10. Find a person who has crystal clear understanding of where you are and is willing to help you. This
person may change throughout your
career. They are not easily found, but
you must find this one person. This is
not someone to whine to, but rather a
person who believes in you, loves you in
spite of your faults and encourages you
every step of the way. Your part is to
trust this individual, believe them and go
back to work!
11. Know your purpose in life, remembering
we should always reach people for good
and for God. Ask His guidance in all that
you do. Don’t get stressed out. Let go
and let God take charge. Pray like
everything depends upon Him and work
like everything depends upon you!

Though many of you may understand my premises and be inspired by the
opportunities that await you, you must have the focus, energy, and the
persistence to go forward. I know that there are many people who feel that they
must wait for the “spirit to move them” to action. Though I took physics in college
and much of it is lost on me now, I do remember one concept that one of the
more esoteric teachers revealed. The spirit is lighter than the body, and the spirit
will never move you; you must move the spirit. Being a motivational speaker, I try
to get people to act on their potential. I try to motivate them to take action through
understanding.
I try to explain to them the basic rules of motivation:
1. Everyone is motivated. Even people who are motivated to keep doing
nothing are still motivated.
2. People do things for their own causes and reasons, not someone else’s
causes and reasons.
3. No one can really motivate anyone to do anything, because motivation
is internal- it comes from something inside of you.
4. Though motivation comes from within, something heard, something
read, something seen, or something felt can fan the fire and ignite the
spark of your potential.
