Coaching Background
Coaching Background
Greg Youngblood was named Dordt
College head football coach in December
2011 after holding assistant coaching
positions at Taylor University (Indiana)
and Waldorf College (Iowa) in 2006 and 2006. Youngblood
was the head coach at Waldorf from 2007 to 2011. He held
high school coaching from 1997 to 2004, and he was the head
football coach at West Mesa High School (New Mexico) for
two seasons.
Garner has coached and taught for 30
years and was an offensive and defensive
line coach at Grand Prairie High School
in Grand Prairie, Texas, before coming
to Dordt. He also coached special teams and offensive
and defensive lines at Colleyville Heritage High School in
Colleyville, Texas, from 1996-2007.
Youngblood is a nationally certified strength and
conditioning specialist and is an active member of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and American Football
Coaches Association.
Coaching Philosophy
I believe in the mission of Dordt, an acadmically excellent
Christian college. As we strive for excellence on the field
and in the classroom, our football program wants to help
develop young men that honor God and help them develop
characteristics that lead to being great citizens, husbands, and
fathers. Coaching at Dordt and working wtih the great young
men here is a blessing, and we are excited to continue to build a
program of which our community and college will be proud.
Garner has been the head coach or staff member of one
state finalist, one semifinalist, two regional finalists, six
district champions, and 12 playoff teams in the Texas high
school ranks.
Coaching Philosophy
I love to coach football at Dordt because I love the game,
and I love what Dordt represents. I hope to teach our
players a love for the game as well as to educate and equip
them to play at their highest potential. I encourage them
to represent their team and school with class, effort,
toughness, discipline, and team work.

GABE ELISERIO
ADAM CONWAY
Defensive Coordinator/
Recruiting Coordinator
Strength and Conditioning/
Special Teams Coordinator/
Safeties
Coaching Background
Prior to coming to Dordt College, Eliserio
spent two years at his alma mater, Sterling
College, where he was the special teams
coordinator and defensive secondary coach. The Warriors
ranked 1st in the conference for scoring defense in 2010 and
2011 as well as 4th in the nation for pass defense efficiency
with senior Mike Talton, earning All-American honors.
The Sterling special teams ranked 1st in the nation for PAT
kicking 2011.
Eliserio spent 2009 and 2010 at Dordt College as defensive
secondary coach. The 2009 Dordt defensive secondary
ranked 5th in the nation for pass defense.
Coaching at Dordt College allows me to use football as an
avenue to minister to the young men in our football program
by encouraging them to know and serve Christ.
Prior to joining the Dordt football staff,
Conway spent the 2012 season at Kilgore
College in Texas where he was the running backs and tight
ends coach as well as the recruiting coordinator. In his
brief stint there, the Kilgore Rangers were regular season
SWJCFC Co-Champions, finishing #15 in the country,
producing 11 All Conference players and 3 All-Americans.
Conway got his coaching start at Geneva College in Beaver
Falls, Pennsylvania, under Hall of Fame Coach Geno
DeMarco. There he coached the wide receivers and tight
ends during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, respectively. In
2010, Geneva produced the top passing attack in the PAC
conference and also led in 3rd down efficiency and pass
completion percentage.
Coaching Philosophy
I believe in coaching with great passion, approaching
everything with a positive attitude, and having high
expectations on and off the field.
Defensively, we will create an atmosphere of hard work,
discipline, execution, and camaraderie.
Athletic Background
My mission is to help student-athletes achieve their full
potential, find their calling, and pursue Christ in every

HISTORY
The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) is an
affiliated conference of the National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), consisting of 11 private,
faith-based colleges and universities in Nebraska, Iowa
and South Dakota. Originally founded in 1969 as the Nebraska Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC), the
league retains five of the six charter members - Concordia, Doane, Hastings, Midland and Nebraska Wesleyan.
In 1992, the NIAC added Northwestern and became the
Nebraska-Iowa Athletic Conference. Eight years later,
Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt, Mount Marty and Sioux Falls
joined the conference which became the Great Plains
Athletic Conference (GPAC) in 2000-2001.
Briar Cliff entered the league in 2002-2003 and Morningside became the 13th member starting with the 20032004 school year. Both schools are in Sioux City, Iowa.
In the summer of 2010 Dana College ceased operations
and in 2011 The University of Sioux Falls left the GPAC to
join NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The GPAC sponsors 19 intercollegiate sports - nine for
women and ten for men - and awards an All-Sports Trophy based on the final league standings and conference
meet results at the end of each school year. Wrestling
was added as a sanctioned GPAC sport for 2006-2007.
The GPAC is the only NAIA conference in the country to
sponsor wrestling.
Beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, the GPAC
started awarding the Christopherson All-Academic
Award. The award is a traveling trophy to be presented
annually to the GPAC institution with the best academic
performance by its student-athletes in all sports. The
award is named in honor of Dr. Myrvin Christopherson,
who recently retired as President of Dana College. Christopherson had served as the first chair of the GPAC Council of Presidents. Nebraska Wesleyan is the most recent
winner of the Christopherson All-Academic Award.
In 2012-2013 the GPAC boasted 506 NAIA Scholar-Athletes. The GPAC remains committed to Academic and
Athletic Excellence!

emphasized the sovereignty of God through his electing
grace.
