STRONG FINISH FOR SOUTH OF PERTH AT THE WORLD
MATCH RACING TOUR - FREMANTLE
Following the Qualifying Match Race at the
South of Perth Yacht Club last month, the
first stage of the World Match Racing Tour
Championship was held at Bathers Beach in
Fremantle.
Twenty teams competed in the event which
was held over 6 days. Both Keith Swinton
and Matt Jerwood (Redline Racing) made it
to the Round of 16; Swinton finished in 12th
Place while Jerwood went on to the Quarter
Finals to finish in 5th Place

FLYING FIFTEENS
Plenty of breeze and a vacant river provided an ideal setting for the Labour Day Regatta
with 6 heats over 2 days. With some very tight finishes, John and Matt (Ffast Lane 4)
were consistently towards the front to win the regatta from A2 (Andy and Anne) and
Storyteller ( Chris and Ed ) third. Full results under the Special Events section on the
club website.
Brendan and Andy on Tuffa Nuff were the most improved boat of the weekend with
some hard work and some coaching from former World and 11 times National Champion, Graeme Lillingston.
Thanks to those who crewed start and mark laying boats – PC Les, John, Trish, Bernie, John, Lana, Rose,
Shirley, Jen and Graeme.
Next weekend is the Applecross Cup. Late entries are being accepted (with the appropriate fee) but you
would need to be quick…..
ABOVE Winners are grinners. John Wilson & Matt Summers
receive their pennants from Trish Swinton & Rose Midolo with the
trophies being donated by Graeme Lillingston. Plonky is the photobomber who finished out of the placings for the Navigator’s Award!

Winter Season Busy Bee
Following the success of the pre summer season busy bee tidy-up, we are having another busy bee
in readiness for the start of the winter season.
The date will be in April, details are still being finalised but with our busy sailing calendar it will be a
morning event prior to sailing, and may be held over two short sessions to allow sailors to continue
with their normal weekend activities.
Watch this space for details, and in the meantime dust off your gardening gear, paintbrushes and so
on.
Chris Paterson – Chairman Works Committee
CRUISING SECTION: TRIP TO MANDURAH
Fourteen boats participated in the Convoy to Mandurah over the weekend. Great weather conditions
and a fine weekend made the cruise to Mandurah a great success.
Some members attended the Variety Splash Cocktail Party that was being held in Mandurah on
Saturday evening where we believe more than $100,000 was raised towards transport for disabled
children in Broome. The cruise back home on Monday also provided excellent cruising conditions
with all vessels returning safely. The next organised cruise will be to Geographe Bay during the Easter
Holiday period. Photo Credit: Dave Ewart
TWILIGHT SAILING START TIME; 1815hrs EVERY WEDNESDAY
Twilight participation has been steadily climbing and we are now seeing around 18 yachts participating most
Wednesdays.
Wednesday special - $25 includes;
ROAST, SOUP & SALAD
Plus a glass of red or white house wine or a middy of local tap beer!
