Year End
Report
#AfroLatinoFestNYC
Affirm.Educate.Celebrate
The Afro-Latino Festival of New York celebrates the contributions
that people of African descent from Latin America and the Caribbean
have made to our city and the global culture as a whole.
In successfully concluding its third year, the summer cultural
experience attracts a wide array of local and international artists and
bands, as well as entrepreneurs, academics and community leaders. With
conferences, culinary presentations and artistic showcases, the festival
highlights the work, values and issues important to the Afro-Latino
community. Our mission is to continue to provide an innovative cultural
space that celebrates the African roots of people from Latin America and
the Caribbean.
Welcome
In 2015 we reached out to you
seeking your participation in and support
for the 3rd Afro-Latino Festival NYC and
you answered the call. The Festival, held
June 1 –July 12, 2015 was a success and
a great affirmation of Afro-Latino culture
here in New York City. We have been
able to grow the Festival and position it
to become a cultural mainstay in the city
and beyond, our long-term goal. The
Festival is the only one of its kind in the
United States and the only one of its
size and scope in the Western
Hemisphere.
There are nearly 200 million Afro-Latinos
in the Western Hemisphere and with
more than 21 similar yet unique country
experiences; we have much to celebrate,
explore & showcase.
We would like to warmly thank
you for your support. We have much to
learn and room to grow. We are listening,
learning, taking notes, and implementing
improvements, all with an eye to
continuously provide the most authentic
representations
of
traditional
and
contemporary Afro-Latino culture in New
York City. Our staff will continue to strive
to provide a fun, informative and uplifting
experiences for all.
