Rae Point is basical l y buil t on a l arge sand bar and as such is a l arge fl at are a. Th e airstrip is 6000 ft by 200 fe e t orie nte d to th e pre vail ing w ind (North w e st –South e ast) and th e cam p is l ocate d at th e south e ast e nd of th e airstrip. It’s 2 m il e s from th e e nd of th e airstrip to th e be ach . Th e be ach is actual l y a bit cl ose r to th e north e ast but th e airstrip isn’t at righ t angl e s to th e be ach . Th e tide s are sm al lat Rae Point (m aybe 6 inch e s). Th e sh ore drops off ste e pl y ne xt to th e be ach and drops to m ore th at 30 fe e t..
