RRSW at KOSH 2015 The RRSW Swifts and Swifters were well
RRSW at KOSH 2015 The RRSW Swifts and Swifters were well represented at 2015 KOSH Air Adventure. Swifters arrived in Swifts, Navions, Cessna 195’s, Bonanzas, Myers 200’s, pickup trucks, and automobiles. What a great group. Our forum was hosted by Bo Mabry and was very well attended with some interesting discussions of many Swift related topics. Well attended Swift forum set up by Bo Mabry The Type Club Hangar was a gathering spot for many of our clan and we had a prominent table, right in front of the main door. Steve Wilson had coordinated our parking and we had two great rows with access to all our needs. The facilities such as showers, port-a-pots, drinking fountains, etc. have been greatly improved since last year. EAA is continuing to upgrade the facility and it was very noticeable. Steve was presented the Wright Brothers award for 50 years of accident free flying during the Swift Forum and was quite humble with his accomplishments. Well done Mr. Wilson. Steve and Barb Our Wednesday night meal was a great success. Barb had to do double duty since our previously scheduled restaurant went out of business at the last minute, leaving Barb with the task of finding a room for 30 – 40 hungry Swifters at the last minute. She pulled it off with a great facility called “Becket’s”. Wonderful food and great service. The Swift Dinner The weather was perfect and this is the first Oshkosh that I can remember when it did not rain “one” drop during the entire week. Temperatures were perfect for us tent campers. Terry taking advantage of the “Nuvite Shine” Steve took care of our parking arrangements. Row 85 and 86 were great rows. Thanks Steve. The airport was filled with Ercoupes and Stinsons. What a great Gathering as they celebrated their 70th anniversary. Next year will be the 70th anniversary of the Swift and it would be wonderful to fill three or four rows with Swifts. The crowd loves our airplanes and we received many compliments about our beautiful birds all sitting together. Mr. Gene Engledow. Now nearly 102 years old and a former California Swift dealer. He was an active pilot on his 100th birthday, making six takeoffs and landings on his 100th birthday in a Champ. His mind is sharp as a tack. He discontinued flying last year. Nuvite tribute to Charlie Nelson Gillaspies and Dickers – at Diamond point only a few weeks earlier. Oshkosh is truly an “Adventure” and if you have not had the opportunity to attend you are missing one of the greatest aviation events in the world. Camping is my choice but many adventurers stay in motels, college dorms, or individual’s houses which are rentable. Plan on Oshkosh 2016 as a “Must Attend” function and start getting your feet in shape. I usually look at airplanes until my feet hurt. Then I lay down at my tent and continue watching airplanes. See you next July. Stan Fly Safe The following link will take you to more KOSH pics https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0C5GH8MqJHaTdF
