Guidelines for the Tour
Eligibility: Any person with a passport, and can show proof of motorcycle ­license
endorsement by sending a photocopy of license with ­completed passport (except
­passengers). Only one passport per person accepted.
Couples: Couples (riding on the same motorcycle) must use separate passports to be
eligible for prizes.
Completion Date: December 31, 2015 all passports and/or pictures must be
­ ost-marked by January 15, 2016.

Categories: There will be five categories for the Tour. North, Central and South Point
of Interest Tours, the ABCs of Indiana Tour and the HMC Sponsor Tour.
Tour Patches: Tour patches will be given to all participants.
Tour Awards Package
1 A drawing will be held by the ABATE of Indiana Awards Banquet in 2016.
2 Total of $1,500 cash prizes will be given away.
3 The TOTAL cash prize will be divided equally between the Tours. $900 will be divided
between the North, Central and South Points of Interest Tours. $600 will be divided
between the ABC’s of Indiana and the HMC Sponsor Tours.
4 There is a maximum of 120 chances per Passport that can be accumulated from the
Tour for the drawing of the cash prizes. You are eligible to win all cash prizes.
5 Anyone accumulating all 120 chances will automatically receive a one-year ABATE of
­Indiana membership.
6 Anyone completing one Points-of-Interest tour and the ABCs of Indiana tour will
qualify for one chance at the all-events pass for 2016. Adding a picture of the ABATE of
Indiana state office you will receive an additional chance. Adding a picture of the Indiana
State Motorcycle Safety Memorial you will receive an additional chance. A total of three
chances can be earned for the all-events pass. There will be 14 passes given away.
7 If less than three participants in either category complete the Tour, the money will be
divided equally among those who have participated in any of the Tours.
How the Tour Works
Points of Interest Participants may visit the points of interest listed in this Pass-
port. You may do the North Tour (Regions 0, 1, 2, 3, 4), Central Tour (Regions 5, 6, 11,
12) or South Tour (Regions 7, 8, 9, 10, 13) separately, any combination of two, or all
three. A Point of Interest is listed in each Region (two in Region 11). There are five points
of interest in each of the North, Central and South Tours (15 total). Simply take a picture
of your motorcycle and yourself in front of the point of interest, while displaying the cover
of the tour book. Couples (riding the same motorcycle) can take a picture of each other
with their motorcycle, while displaying the cover page of the tour book. You will qualify
for 2 chances per picture to win cash prizes for each of these Tours you complete.
ABCs of Indiana Participants must take a picture of your motorcycle and yourself
in front of the name of a city, town or county sign using the alphabet A through Z (there
is no X), while displaying the cover of the tour book. Couples (riding the same motorcycle) can take a picture of each other with their motorcycle, while displaying the cover
of the tour book. You also need a picture of 5 State Parks or State/National Forests.
You will receive 2 chances for each letter of the alphabet, State/National Park or State/
National Forest. There are a total of 60 chances available for this Tour.
HMC Sponsor Tour Participants in this Tour must take a picture of your motorcycle and yourself at any BUSINESS that has an advertisement in the “Hoosier Motorcyclist” magazine, while displaying the cover of the tour book. Couples (riding the same
motorcycle) can take a picture of each other with their motorcycle, while displaying the
cover of the tour book. You need to do this at 15 businesses that advertise in the magazine, and will receive one chance for each.
Bonus Complete all 5 Tours (3-Points of Interest, ABCs and HMC Sponsor) and
receive and additional 15 chances!

“The Cabin at Wildflower Woods”is the
beloved home and final resting place
of Gene Stratton-Porter. Designed by
Stratton-Porter and completed in 1914.
The exterior walls are of Wisconsin
cedar logs, and local wild cherry
panels the entrance hall and dining
room. There are three fireplaces: one
of polished English brick, one
constructed of Native American artifacts
and stones and one of puddingstone.

Summit Chapel School

North side of State Road 10 near
Birch Road, Tippecanoe, Indiana
This school building, a Greek Revival
structure, was built around 1860. It is
a single story building, with an area of
25 feet by 30 feet. In 1910 a 12 foot by
13 foot cloak room was added to the
structure. It is located on Tippecanoe
Township’s Summit Hill, the highest
point in Marshall County. The cemetery
was established in 1844.

Bailly Homestead and
Chellberg Farm

Porter, Indiana
In 1822, fur trader Joseph Bailly
established a trading post on the
southern shore of Lake Michigan.
He acquired the homestead and
surrounding lands in the 1830’s.
Chellberg Farm was established by
Swedish immigrants, Anders and
Johanna “Kjellberg,” who purchased
80 acres in Porter County in the 1870s
to establish a modest family farm.

Strebin’s Shell Station

Built in 1930 for the Shell Gas Company,
Strebin’s Shell Station was a local hangout
and refueling stop. It was recently reborn
through a major face lift and
restoration effort by local
entrepreneurs.

Red Crown
Mini-Museum

Step back in time at this unique
Standard Oil Service Station.
Built in 1928 by the Standard Oil
Company of Indiana. It was built
with glazed brick on all walls and
red tile on the roof. It operated as
a gas station until 1979, pumping
mostly Red Crown gasoline.
Everything can be seen from the
windows of this “walk-by” museum.

This restaurant, decorated in a 50’s theme,
features hand made menu items, from hand
tenderized tenderloins to side dishes. Inside
there is a 1930’s juke box with tunes form the
50’s and 60’s. There are a lot of things to see
inside. Outside there are antique cars, and the
giant statue of a man.

Ten O’clock Treaty
Line Marker

This marker provides some information
about the Ten O’clock Treaty Line that
was established on September 30th,
1809. The United States obtained
almost three million acres from the
Potawatomie, Delaware and
Miami Indian tribes.

Bonaparte’s Retreat

Located in the heart of
southeastern Indiana, on Highway
421, in Ripley County.
The business is located
in a building built in the
early to mid 1800’s. It has
undergone extensive
renovation and is finished
in all native white oak
paneling. The building has had many uses including
a stop on the underground railroad. There is a broad
collection of Napoleon Bonaparte memorabilia inside.

Veterans
Memorial

The monument is a
3 sided stone.
Surrounding the monument
are bricks with the names of servicemen and
servicewomen from Newburgh. The memorial is
for all branches of the service and for all wars and times of peace.

Beck’s Mill

Beck’s Mill was first built in
1808, a second replacement
mill was built in 1825. The
current mill was built in 1864.
The present mill stopped
operation approximately
1950. Beck’s Mill was added
to the National Register of
Historic Places in 2007.
After extensive effort and
renovation the mill was
restored and put into operational
order in 2008. Visitors can see Beck’s Mill in action,
Friday, Saturday, and Sundays, April through November.

Recently constructed to resemble the former mill
that once stood near the Patoka River, this new
structure is the latest addition to the “Old Jasper”
district. Guests can tour the mill, watch the
workings of the waterwheel for corn meal
production and browse for souvenir items for
purchase in the gift shop.

Lucas Oil Raceway was built in 1960 and
has hosted world class racing events since
1961. The raceway’s marque event is the
world’s biggest drag race, the Annual
Chevrolet Performance US Nationals held
each Labor Day weekend.

Region 11 Central Tour 2
The Historic Roads Hotel

Built by Abraham Kauffman in 1893, the
hotel was purchased by Newton Roads.
The hotel was served as a layover for the
railroad that passed through the business
district of Atlanta. Recently the hotel was
purchased by a group called Sixth Sense
Indy Paranormal. They claim the Hotel is
“very haunted”. Reports are common of
investigators hearing conversations from
people on the upper story when no one is
there. Donations and proceeds from events
go toward the preservation and restoration
of this Historic Landmark.

Ernie Pyle Roadside Park

State Road 71, Dana, Indiana
The Ernie Pyle Replica Monument Marker is found in
this unusual rest stop. The marker is a replica of the
monument erected by the 1118 Engineer Combat
Group of the U.S. Army upon the tragic death of
Ernie Pyle, a news reporter, in the Southern Pacific.
At this park is also a (walking) covered bridge, picnic
tables, playground, and pavilion.
