Thoughts To Make You Think “Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark violently at nothing right in your ear,” Dave Barry, Pulitzer Prize-winning American author. “Did you ever notice when you blow in a dog’s face he gets mad at you? But when you take him in a car he sticks his head out the window,” Steve Bluestone, American poet. “The most affectionate creature in the world is a wet dog,” Ambrose Bierce, American journalist. “The biggest dog has been a pup,” Joaquin Miller, American poet. Debbie Adams’ first job after high school had her in Pauls Valley, Okla., working for the International Rodeo Association. As time passed, and vocations changed, Adams spent time as an employee with the Home Security Insurance Agency in Pauls Valley, and First National Bank, later renamed Farmers and Merchants Bank, in Maysville, Okla. “I was (at that bank) for ten years before going to work for seven years for TAW, Inc., in Lindsay, Okla., as the bookkeeper, and administrative assistant,” she said. According to Adams, it was the eventual relocation of TAW to Fort Smith, Arkansas, that found her unemployed. “(Then) a good friend of mine called to tell me about a position open at The State Bank of Wynnewood,” she continued. “The (bank) seemed to good to be true. I was offered the job.” And she accepted. “Twelve years have passed and here I am, still working with a great team,” she said. Sherri Harrell began her career with The State Bank of Wynnewood while looking for a loan. “I came in to the bank to request a loan, and the then loan officer B. R. Harrison handed me a credit application along with a job application,” she said. Harrell then added that both her loan application, and job application were approved. “I started work on April 16, 1979, in the bookkeeping area, (and) then later became a teller,” she continued. Now, three-plus decades later, fate seems to have brought Harrell full circle. “From (teller) I moved to a loan assistant position,” she said. “And from there became a loan officer, and vice president.” All told, she wouldn’t trade either of those applications for the world. “I’m still here, and enjoy working with the bank’s customers,” she said.
