London at Heritage Station With the project nearly complete, the client had available suites that have not been purchased, deciding on advertising them as rental properties. Envisioning the rental ad to be independent from its purchasable property ad, but still have the core elements intact. On every listing there are several icons that will allow the readers to pin-point the features of each listing so that they may quickly find what they’re looking for. Published in CalgaryRent.ca. ›› CapReit At a client’s request, the advertisement was to be consistent with the look and feel of the company website, with the option of being able to shuffle listings around. The client also liked that the location map be in the ad’s color scheme and be simplified. Published in CalgaryRent.ca. Advertising | 5 ›‹ Elle’s Jewellery Design Photo’s and text were supplied and I was given free reign over the design. Kept the logo simple, readable, and very feminine. Used a limited number of photos, to focus on the specialty and unique items. Published in Calgary’s Planet Philippines. ‹‹ GreatLife Financial There were two specific instructions that were mandatory to approve the advertisement: The color green and the inclusion of ALL the employees. Designed so that the monthly special text be easily replaced without altering the entire design and each employee photo was consistent with a white background. Published in Calgary’s Planet Philippines. 6 | editorial Your source for new homes www.ProminentHomes.ca | 403.338.1313 Prominent Homes Ltd. Featured as the cover piece of New Home Buyers Guide, the client has also requested that the ensemble be a stand alone project they can present to their customers. The client was uncertain of the cover image and requested that the mirror is to be removed. Delighted that the modification was to the reflection of door and not the actual mirror structure. Published in New Home Buyers Guide. editorial | 7 Sabal Homes Occasionally a client would supply the cover or advertisement and we are trusted to arrange the article that would compliment the supplied material. Uncovering the fonts they utilize, and acquiring design elements may be tedious task, nonetheless, once the piece is complete, the madness was worth it! Published in New Home Buyers Guide. 8 | Invitations ›› Cadence Hoffman The mother had given me total control over the design of the invitation including what photo to use. Her only request was not to have it too conservative and have a little fun with the design. During the first draft, of the invitation, everything was pink. Reconsidering my color scheme and the thoughts of what the father might think of color choice, I’d managed to make the same design work with a new scheme. However, once completed, I was then told that the father was willing to have everything pink for his little girl. ›› Angelina Hargreaves I was ecstatic to be the designer for both the first birthday and christening invitations! Although the approach on the designs were different due to the meaning of each event, the outcome of the invitations should reflect the celebrant. Birthdays incline towards the entertaining, vibrant style. Inspired by the hat she wears in the photo and the request of having pink as the main color from the mother. Having the invitation from the celebrant personalizes the invitation. Christenings celebrate one’s right of passage into the catholic religion, the style gravitates down to a more tranquil and composed tone. invitations | 9 Répondez s’il vous plaît The courtesy of a reply is requested before the second of May. Estor - Hargreaves Wedding Nothing but the best for one of the best days in anyone’s life. Excited for her big day, the bride has requested that the color scheme of the wedding must accentuate the bride and grooms attire. Resulting in the champagne and aubergine color. The invites were to remain simply packaged, with the inserts having the alluring factor. In support to the bride’s request of not having the couple’s photo on the invite, I placed illustrations that support the color scheme and assist the viewer’s sight to flow from one area of the invitation to the other. Choosing to have a script and a contrasting serif font, communicates the elegance of the event without cluttering the page. The design of the invitation has inspired the designs for the remaining necessary items, such as the ‘Save the Date’, “Placement Cards’, ‘RSVP cards’ etc. Keeping the design constant throughout the entire wedding. 10 | Illustration Daisuke & Dark A reproduction of an image portraying the characters ‘Daisuke’ and ‘Dark’ from a Japanese manga/anime series ‘D.N.Angel’. Achieving a similar look, using pencil crayons as the media and without creating the ‘color-by-numbers’ style of sketching. By sketching this image, I had to confront some of my more challenging sketching points of drawing hands and having more than one character in the sketch. Illustration | 11 Kurumi & Hakuron Based on a Japanese manga ‘Haou Airen’, this image depicts the relationship between the two main characters. This sketch has provided me more opportunity to construct the look and color of the hair. Blending several tones of a color has provided a more abundant scale of highlights and shadows. The contrast between the characters is clearly seen, but still connected through their eye contact. 12 | Illustration Fashion Illustration Various sketches portraying characters posing, presenting their apparel in a stylize manner. More details are entitled onto the clothing, which emphasizes the focus on the clothing rather than the model. A combination of ink and pencil crayon creates a contrast in the sketches. The ink draws attention to the details, and the pencil crayon fuses the entire sketch to a cohesive image. Venturing into a new media and undertaking a new challenge by recreating a sketch into a vector image using various blends, gradients and stroke. Achieving the same look and style that was created in the sketch, now in digital format. Illustration | 13 ›‹ Female ‘iDazzle’ Portrait Inspired by the 'Twilight Saga' phenomenon, the vector illustration displays the focal feature of the characters in the story line, their eyes. To keep the focal point on the eyes, the remaining features were simplified. The items are available to be purchased through an online store. ‹‹ Cocktail Constructing a metallic object in vector format takes serious patience and a lot of blending! Composing two metallic objects in one image is nearly insane! With the task of producing an illustration, restricted to three Pantone colors and a subject that calls for tedious, time-consuming techniques, what’s a girl to do? …Make it creative and fun! Various blends give this illustration the smooth metallic look that the subject calls for. The modification of the glass to metal creates a balance between the glass and shaker and is completed by the reflection caused by the glass. 14 | Illustration Jacob Black Winner of CafePress’ National New Moon T-shirt Design Contest - Jacob Black Category Using an infinite number of vector blends and gradients for the hair and body, the ‘Twilight Saga’s Jacob Black was created! Primarily created to counter the ‘Edward Cullen’ illustration, this image had tested my vector/sketching skills, knowledge on the human anatomy and the limits of my patience. Throughout the design process, keeping the light source and proportions consistent throughout while controlling the blends that create the contours of the image was mind boggling! Successfully making the blends fade out smoothly, yet having them well defined in some areas to produce shadows and highlights. The overall layout was carefully considered since the image was to be placed on products available to be purchased online. Other simpler designs were created to compliment the main illustration to declare to the world whom the fan supports. Overall, the outcome of the illustration was amazing! Illustration | 15 Edward Cullen Winner of CafePress’ National New Moon T-shirt Design Contest - Edward Cullen Category Based on Edward Cullen the leading male in Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight Saga’ novels. This illustration was created to be sold through online stores to the many raging fans worldwide. Inspired by the promotional photo and the character’s clothing ensemble, this vector image consist of various blends, layers and a large amount of hours. Initially, the design was to remain simple, with very little blends and gradients. Then with all the rave reviews on how the actor has incredible hair in the movie. It was then decided that I would test my skills on blends and produce an illustration that would live up to the reviews! Contributing to the illustration, a selection of words and quotes from the saga are stylized to match the definition of the words. All together, I was incredibly pleased on how this illustration turned out! 16 | identity ›› Sharp Roofing Inc. The client was kind enough to give me free reign on the design for their logo. The logo represents the service the company provides in a straightforward and recognizable image. The client was unsure of the selected color I’ve suggested for the logo, but after the reasoning of how everyone is proposing to ‘go green’ on everything, they’ve decided to to approve it with the green. The overall layout of the logo can also be interpreted as a solid roof over the company/client with a bright, new and cleaner days ahead. ›› CalgaryRent.ca With past experience in a real estate publication, I was recommended to be the sole designer of the marketing products and advertising for the publication. The first task was to create a logo that represents the overall feel and style of the publication; A modern, stylistic rental publication that targets the younger age group without excluding the older age group. A logo that can be easily recognizable from afar, and embodies the spirit of the city is represents. The completed logo has the a wide range of color variations available for it to remain the focal point of the of the layout without deferring from its main color scheme. identity | 17 GRAPHIC DESIGN Carmela Sarile - Graphic Design Providing a solution to all print needs!
