The KLCI eased 0.86 points to close at 1,626.77, off an early high of 1,629.81 and low of 1,620.94, as losers edged gainers 397 to 332 on reduced turnover of 1.38bn shares worth RM1.46bn. Market undertone should remain cautious amid uncertainty over implementation of trade and immigration policies by the new US administration, and volatile oil prices. On the index, key retracement support remains at 1,616, the 50%FR of the 1,503 low to the 1,729 high, which must hold to prevent a re-test of the January low of 1,600. Immediate resistance stays at the 38.2%FR at 1,643, with the 100 and 200-day moving average levels of 1,664 and 1,667 respectively acting as stronger overhead resistance. Any further strength on Sime Darby shares towards the 10-day ma (RM8.14), with stronger resistance seen at the upper Bollinger band (RM8.33), should encourage profit taking, while immediate supports are at RM7.82 and RM7.77, the respective 100 and 200-day ma. Likewise, further gains on Tenaga will be attractive to take profit, especially towards the 76.4%FR (RM14.35) and upper Bollinger band (RM14.44), while key chart supports are at 61.8%FR (RM14.02) and 50%FR (RM13.75). US Economic Outlook and Oil Weigh on Asian Markets A drop in oil prices weighed on Asian stocks on Thursday, ahead of inflation, jobs and export data expected from the U.S. Crude prices declined following data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Wednesday that crude oil inventories in the country were higher than expected last week on rising imports and a build-up in Oklahoma. Investors will keep an eye on the October consumer prices, weekly jobless claims and export data from U.S. followed by the U.S. congressional testimony from U.S. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen. Nikkei 225 was unchanged at 17,862.63, recovering from earlier losses of nearly 0.4 percent. The Japanese benchmark index had been up nearly 10 percent since November 9. China stocks closed slightly higher on Thursday, snapping a two-session losing streak, as gains for big-cap infrastructure stocks offset a weak resources sector. The blue-chip CSI300 index rose 0.2 percent, to 3,436.54, while the Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.1 percent to 3,208.45 points. Meanwhile, the ASX 200 bucked the trend to finish up 0.2 percent, or 10.828 points, at 5,338.5 after initial losses of more than 0.3 percent. The benchmark index saw the biggest losses in its energy sub-index, which was down 1.2 percent. Wall Street Lifted By Economic Data and Yellen Remarks The S&P 500 Index neared an all-time high Thursday, as investors parsed through economic data and Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's testimony. Yellen, the head of the Federal Reserve, testified in front of Congress. In prepared remarks, Yellen said a rate hike could be "appropriate relatively soon," adding there are dangers to waiting too long to tighten Page 1 of 8 TA Securities 18-Nov-16 A Member of the TA Group monetary policy. Yellen also said she would not step down from her post until her term is done. A large number of market participants expect the central bank to raise interest rates next month. According to the CME Group's Fed-Watch tool, market expectations for a December rate hike were around 90 percent Thursday. Thursday also saw a number of economic data reports release, as housing starts soared more than 25 percent in October, while weekly jobless claims dropped to their lowest level since November 1973. Meanwhile, October CPI rose 0.4 percent, in line with expectations. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 35.68 points, or 0.19 percent, to 18,903.82 the S&P 500 gained 10.18 points, or 0.47 percent, to 2,187.12 and the Nasdaq Composite added 39.38 points, or 0.74 percent, to 5,333.73. Page 2 of 8 TA Securities 18-Nov-16 A Member of the TA Group News In Brief Corporate MTD ACPI Engineering Bhd has secured a RM678.7mn contract from MRT Corp. The contract is for the construction and completion of viaduct guideway and other associated works for the stretch from Taman Pinggiran Putra to Persiaran Alpina of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line. (Bursa Malaysia/ Bernama) Gas Malaysia Bhd's pre-tax profit for 3Q16 rose to RM55.6mn from RM44.5mn in the same period last year. Revenue increased to RM1.1bn from RM895.5mn previously. The better revenue is due to the upward revision of natural gas tariffs which took effect in July 15, 2016 and higher volume of gas sold in the current quarter. (Bursa Malaysia/ Bernama) CIMB Bank Bhd is cautiously optimistic of maintaining its loan growth for the consumer banking segment at 7% in 2017, a similar growth rate for this year. Despite the market challenges this year, consumer banking loans have grown by 7% this year. (The Star) Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd is disposing of a 1 acre plot of land to MRT Corp for RM180mn due to concerns over its proximity to the construction of the MRT Line 2. It was in the initial stage of developing a block of serviced apartments on the land prior to receiving notice that the alignment of the MRT Line 2 crosses the site directly below the land. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) YTL Corp Bhd's net profit dropped 25% to RM150.3mn for 1QFY17 from RM202.6mn a year earlier, as it saw lower profit contribution from all but two of its seven business segments. Its revenue narrowed 21% to RM3.5bn from RM4.5bn in the previous year. Its business divisions saw lower profit, with the exception of its construction and hotels divisions, which saw 16.7% and 117.8% improvement in pretax profit, respectively. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Guocoland (Malaysia) Bhd saw its 1QFY17 fall nearly 99% YoY to RM265k RM21.3mn, largely because it had recorded a fair value gain of some RM16.7mn in the previous year. Revenue, meanwhile, weakened 24.4% YoY to RM53.5mn from RM70.8mn, on lower contribution from its residential projects in Damansara City, namely the Oval and Amandarii. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Malayan Flour Mills Bhd's net profit for 3QFY16 rose 33.6% to RM13.8mn from RM10.4mn a year earlier. Quarterly revenue, meanwhile, rose a marginal 0.4% only to RM610.9mn from RM608.2mn a year ago. It was due to higher sales volume recorded in poultry integration segment. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Far East Holdings Bhd’s net profit rose 59% to RM69.4mn in 3QFY16, from RM28.4mn a year earlier, on higher average crude palm oil and kernel prices. Revenue grew 7.8% to RM99.4mn from RM92.2mn. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Ann Joo Resources Bhd reported a net profit of RM22.9mn for 3QFY16 compared with a net loss of RM82.3mn a year ago. It attributed the improved performance to a recovery in the selling price of various steel products and better cost structure. Revenue, meanwhile, dropped by a marginal 0.5% to RM323.7mn from RM325.5mn in 3QFY15. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Tambun Indah Land Bhd posted a 6.1% increase in net profit to RM25.2mn in 3QFY16 against RM23.8mn a year ago, due to higher other income and lower administrative expenses. However, 3QFY16 revenue fell 0.9% to RM85.4mn versus RM86.2mn. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Page 3 of 8 TA Securities 18-Nov-16 A Member of the TA Group Technology provider Palette Multimedia Bhd has signed a partnership deal with Shanghai International Medical Centre (SIMC) to provide its healthcare services in China. SIMC will adopt Palette Multimedia's mobile healthcare platform i-medic for all its doctors and specialists. (The Star) Pasukhas Group Bhd has initiated litigation proceedings to avoid paying RM1.7mn to a company for construction work in an apartment project in Ipoh. Its wholly-owned unit Pasukhas Sdn Bhd is suing Townscapes Builders Sdn Bhd. (Bursa Malaysia/ The Edge) Page 4 of 8 TA Securities 18-Nov-16 A Member of the TA Group News In Brief Economy Asia China's FDI inflow rises 4.2% in Jan-Oct Foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Chinese mainland rose 4.2% year on year to reach 666.3bn yuan (USD98bn) in the first ten months of the year, official data showed Thursday. The growth rate is unchanged from the January-September period, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The service industry continued to attract massive foreign investment from January to October, said Tang Wenhong, head of the ministry's foreign investment division. FDI in the service sector, which accounted for 70.7% of all investment, increased 9.1% year on year during the period. In particular, FDI in high-tech services skyrocketed 90.2% from a year earlier to reach 79.18bn yuan. In the first ten months, FDI from the United States surged 79.8%, while that from the European Union soared 41.5%. The number of newly-established foreign companies with investment of over 100mn dollars totaled 600. FDI in China's western regions jumped 29.8% year on year to 49.27bn yuan during the 10-month period, while the more developed eastern areas attracted 582.82bn yuan in investment, up 6.9%. (China Daily) BoJ Fights Off Spike in JGB Yields in Test of Revamped Bond-Purchase Plan The Bank of Japan (BoJ) on Thursday fired a warning shot to markets by offering to buy unlimited bonds for the first time under a revamped policy framework, as domestic debt yields surged in the wake of Donald Trump's upset US election victory. BoJ governor Haruhiko Kuroda said the central bank will not stand idly by as Japanese government bond yields jumped in sympathy with moves in US Treasuries, taking the challenge to markets as policymakers tried to keep borrowing costs low to spur stubbornly low inflation. The BoJ offered to buy an unlimited amount of bonds at minus 0.04% in the five-year JGB notes and minus 0.09% in the two-year paper, employing a method the bank unveiled in September to achieve its new policy to control the entire yield curve, rather than just short-term interest rates. The market's response was quick, with the five-year JGB yield falling back to minus 0.095% from minus 0.065%. The two-year yield fell to minus 0.150%, down 4.0 basis points on the day. The BoJ's bond-buy offer attracted no bids as market players can sell them at a lower yield, or a higher price, in the market. (The Star Online) Australia Employment Snaps 2-Month Fall in October Employment change in Australia snapped 2-month fall during the period of October, while the jobless rate held steady at 3-year low. However, the change in employment remained sharply below market expectations, signaling that the labor market has yet not fully recovered from early lows. We expect AUD/USD to remain bullish following the rebound in employment statistics. Australia’s employment rose by 9,800 in October in seasonally adjusted terms, missing expectations for an increase of 20,000, data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday. However, the rate of unemployment remained steady at 5.6%, while the participation rate slightly declined to 64.4%, from 64.5% in September. (EconoTimes) Singapore's Exports Slump, Trump Raise Recession Risks Singapore's exports in October contracted sharply as sales to major markets fell, raising the risk of a recession in the trade-dependent economy amid heightened uncertainty around global trade in the wake of Donald Trump's US election victory. The affluent city-state's economy has been on the ropes in the last two years as exports fell away amid slow world growth, and Trump's upset had added another layer of doubt on trade given his protectionist policy stance. Non-oil domestic exports (NODX) skidded 12.0% last month from a year earlier, the trade agency International Enterprise Singapore said in a statement, far worse than the median forecast of a 3.5% decline in a Reuters poll. The central bank in October held policy steady despite a surprisingly sharp economic contraction in the third quarter. (Reuters) Page 5 of 8 TA Securities 18-Nov-16 A Member of the TA Group Philippines' Robust Q3 Growth Beats Expectations The Philippine economy grew at its fastest pace in more than three years in July-September, most of President Rodrigo Duterte's first 100 days in office, setting him up to meet the ambitious target he set for the year. Duterte, who was elected in May, inherited an economy that has enjoyed 70 quarters of uninterrupted growth, buoyed mainly by domestic demand fuelled by remittances from migrant workers. That momentum, further boosted by election campaign spending in the first two quarters of the year, resulted in the third quarter's forecast-topping 7.1% growth. Such rapid expansion made the Philippines the fastest growing economy in Asia by far, outpacing even China. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, gross domestic product expanded 1.2%, the national statistics agency said, slightly above the 1.1% growth projected in a Reuters poll, but slower than the previous quarter's 2.1%. Growth in the third quarter was supported by household consumption, which sustained its 7%-plus annual rate pace. Fixed capital investment growth topped 20%, with public construction continuing its double-digit growth. Private construction grew a sharp 16.2% in the third quarter compared with 8.0% over April-June. (The Star Online) U.S. U.S. Consumer Prices Rose in October U.S. consumer prices increased in October from a year earlier at the fastest rate in two years, the latest sign inflation pressures in the economy are firming. The consumer-price index, measuring what Americans pay for everything from rent to razors, advanced a seasonally adjusted 0.4% from a month earlier, the Labor Department said. Excluding the volatile costs of food and energy, so-called core prices rose 0.1%. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had projected overall prices to rise 0.4% and core prices to increase 0.2%. Higher prices for gasoline and shelter drove the gain. Compared with a year earlier, overall prices grew 1.6% in October. Core prices grew 2.1% from a year earlier. Consumer prices increased in seven of the past eight months and those gains have accelerated since the summer. The advances lifted the inflation gauge from essentially flat a year ago to a rate of increase that is more consistent with a steadily growing economy. Inflation has been mostly subdued for the past several years, largely due to falling energy prices, an effect that is now fading. Economists view weak inflation as a symptom of a sluggish economy without enough demand or income gains to allow firms to command higher prices. Federal Reserve policy makers target 2% annual price increases as a healthy level that is neither too weak nor a sign of an overheating economy. The CPI report showed energy prices in October rose 3.5%. Gasoline costs were up 7%, but down 0.9% from a year earlier. Shelter costs, which account for a third of the index, rose 0.4% last month, and were up 3.5% from a year earlier. Food prices were flat for the fourth straight month in October. The costs of medical services were flat. (The Wall Street Journal) U.S. Housing Starts Jump 25.5% in October Both housing starts and permits for new construction rose in October, a sign residential construction is ramping up to meet steady demand. Housing starts rose 25.5% in October to an annual rate of 1.323 million, the Commerce Department said, as multifamily housing starts came back with a vengeance. Single-family starts also continued to climb, reaching a rate of 869,000. Starts in structures with five or more units, such as condos or apartment buildings, posted a 74.5% gain to hit a rate of 445,000 in October. Building permits issued for privately owned housing units rose 0.3% in October from the prior month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.229 million. Permits for single-family homes, about 60% of all permits, rose 2.7% to a rate of 762,000. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected overall October permits to fall to a 1.20 million annual rate and starts to rise to a 1.15 million pace. Construction typically begins a month or two after a permit is issued. Monthly housing figures are often choppy and can be subject to large revisions. September permits were unrevised at 1.225 million. September starts were revised up slightly to 1.054 million from 1.047 million. October’s permits figure, based on a survey of local governments, had a margin of error of 2.0 percentage points. Last month’s starts number, based on a survey of builders and homeowners, came with a margin of error of 12.6 percentage points. Through the first 10 months of the year, permits were up just 0.7% compared with the same period in 2015, reflecting a drop in permits for buildings with five or more units that nearly erased gains for single-family permits. Starts were up 5.9% Page 6 of 8 TA Securities 18-Nov-16 A Member of the TA Group through October, again led by gains in the single-family sector. (The Wall Street Journal) U.S. Jobless Claims Fall The number of Americans applying for first-time unemployment benefits fell to a multi decade low last week, a sign of continued strength in the U.S. labour market. Initial jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs, dropped 19,000 in the week ended Nov. 12 to a seasonally adjusted 235,000, the lowest level since November 1973, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected 255,000 new claims. Jobless claims for the week ended Nov. 5 were left unrevised at 254,000. Initial claims have remained below 300,000 for 89 straight weeks, the longest such streak since 1970—when the workforce and U.S. population were far smaller than they are today. Still, data on unemployment-benefit applications can be volatile from week to week. The fourweek moving average for initial claims fell last week by 6,500 to 253,500. (The Wall Street Journal) Philly Fed Survey Shows Slower Growth in November The manufacturing sector in the mid-Atlantic region saw slower growth in November compared to the previous month, according to the results of a closely watched regional survey. New orders and shipments grew at a faster pace, but prices rose and labour conditions remained week. The Philadelphia Federal Reserve said its index of general business activity dipped to 7.6 in November, compared to a reading of 9.7 in the previous month. Any reading above zero indicates expansion in the sector. The results are compiled from a survey conducted of manufacturers in the region. It is one of the more closely watched regional factory surveys. November's dip came despite stronger growth in both new orders and shipments. The orders index rose to 18.6, compared to 16.3 in October. The shipments index was up to 19.5 compared to a previous reading of 15.3. Inventories expanded in November after a draw down in the previous month. The index measuring company stockpiles came in at a positive 13.4 for the month, compared to negative 12.8 in October. This was the first time the current inventories index had been in positive territory for 17 months. (RTT News) Fed’s Yellen: Rate Increase Could Become Appropriate ‘Relatively Soon’ Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen reiterated that an increase in short-term interest rates “could well become appropriate relatively soon,” and offered no new signals about what the central bank will do at its meeting next month. Officials decided to hold off on raising rates at their last meeting after judging that there was “somewhat more room” for the labour market to improve than officials had anticipated at the beginning of the year, Ms. Yellen said in prepared testimony she will deliver at a hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday morning. But she emphasized that policy must remain forward-looking. “Were the FOMC [Federal Open Market Committee] to delay increases in the federal-funds rate for too long, it could end up having to tighten policy relatively abruptly to keep the economy from significantly overshooting both of the Committee’s longer-run policy goals,” Ms. Yellen told the Joint Economic Committee in her prepared remarks. “Moreover, holding the federalfunds rate at its current level for too long could also encourage excessive risk-taking and ultimately undermine financial stability.” Ms. Yellen didn't make any comments about the results of the presidential election. Fed officials have left their benchmark federal-funds rate unchanged this year after raising it in December 2015 to a range between 0.25% and 0.50%. Policy makers have signalled in recent weeks that they are closer to lifting rates again amid steady job growth, accelerating wage gains and signs of firming inflation. Fed officials will next meet on Dec. 13-14. The Fed chief said officials’ decision to leave rates unchanged last month “does not reflect a lack of confidence in the economy.” The pace of wage gains has stepped up recently, economic growth appears to have picked up from its subdued pace earlier in the year and consumer spending has continued to post moderate gains, Ms. Yellen said. Total sales volumes jumped 1.9% in October compared with September, driven by clothing and footwear sales. This pushed up the annual rate of growth to 7.4%, representing the strongest pace of growth since April 2002. The figures provide further evidence that consumer confidence remains robust following the Brexit vote, which pushed the pound briefly above $1.25 against the dollar in early trading. All store types posted increases, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which noted that the value of online sales in October rose at the fastest annual pace since the start of 2011. Economists said they believed the figures were also boosted by a rise in spending by foreign visitors following the dramatic drop in the value of the pound. (Telegraph.co.uk) Europe More Expensive Services Drive Eurozone Inflation Higher in October Eurozone consumer price growth accelerated slightly in October as expected thanks to more expensive services and smaller energy price falls, data from the European Union's statistics office Eurostat showed. Eurostat confirmed its earlier estimate that inflation last month was 0.5% year-on-year, up from 0.4% in September and 0.2% in August. On a monthly basis prices went up 0.2% in October. The biggest upward push on the index came from rising prices in restaurants and cafes, which added 0.07 points to the final reading and from higher rents, which added 0.04 points. Cheaper vegetables and gas subtracted 0.06 points and 0.12 points respectively from the final year-on-year number in October. Overall the prices of services in the 19 countries sharing the euro rose 1.1% year-on-year in October, the same as in the previous two months. Without the volatile components of unprocessed food and energy, inflation was 0.1% month-on-month and 0.7% year-on-year, a slight deceleration from the 0.8% annual price growth in the previous five months. The European Central Bank wants to keep inflation below, but close to 2% over the medium terms and is buying euro zone government bonds on the secondary market to inject cash into the banking system and make banks lend more to the real economy to boost inflation closer to its target. YoY, bottomline contraction was mainly attributed to sustained losses from Paka IPP. To recap, the plant has been idle since end-Sept 2015, as its PPA is delayed pending a resolution to land lease issues with Tenaga. To a smaller extent, earnings decline was also due to:- 1) lower fuel oil price and oil trading volume at Power Seraya, 2) lower translated earnings from Wessex due to a stronger MYR, and 3) lower associate contribution from PT Jawa Power. Earnings was partially cushioned by narrowed losses at the telecommunications segment, due to the launch of YES 4G. www.taonline.com.my Share Information Bloomberg Code YTLP MK Stock Code 6742 Listing Main Market Share Cap (mn) 7,758.7 Market Cap (RMmn) 11,638.1 Par Value 0.50 52-wk Hi/Lo (RM) 1.64/1.38 12-mth Avg Daily Vol ('000 shrs) 2,783.0 Estimated Free Float (%) 24.0 Beta Major Shareholders (%) 0.40 YTL Corp Berhad - 47.6 Cornerstone Crest - 6.9 Forecast Revision FY17 QoQ, earnings were weaker mainly due to a one-off chunky recognition of deferred tax credits following revaluation of PT Jawa Power’s assets. This was exacerbated by losses at Paka which almost doubled, and a weaker GBP. On the bright side, Seraya’s pretax profits surged by 27% QoQ. This marks its 2nd consecutive quarterly uptick since earnings started free falling back in 2Q15. In addition, pretax losses at the telecommunications segment narrowed by almost half, on the back of YES 4G. Impact and Outlook We maintain our forecasts at this juncture as we expect stronger results for the remainder of FY17. This is mainly underpinned by continued traction at Power Seraya due to:- 1) government initiatives to limit capacity additions and maintain stable vesting volumes, and 2) improved contribution from high margin ancillary income (i.e. steam sales, oil storage tank leasing, bunkering services, and potable water sales). In addition, there is earnings upside from new power plants which have not been factored into our forecasts. These include Tg. Jati coal plant in Indonesia and Attarat shale plant in Jordan. Share Performance (%) Maintain Buy on YTL Power with unchanged SOP-target price of RM1.84. De-rating risks include:- 1) delay in rollout of 1Bestarinet’s Phase 2 or its ultimate cancellation, 2) further reduction in vesting contracts for Power Seraya, and 3) protracted steep losses at YES 4G. The table above is a compilation of actively traded stocks with some popular technical indicators. The technical BUY/SELL signals on the last four columns are auto generated; the first two being existing or recent signals while the last two represent a signal change from BUY to SELL or the reverse, otherwise no change is indicated by a dash. INTERPRETATION OF TECHNICAL INDICATORS: Bollinger Bands: Variable width bands that narrow during less volatile periods and widen during more volatile periods. As a general rule, in a bearish trend, traders should buy when share price touches the lower band and exit when price touches the middle band. The reverse is true in a bullish trend, ie. Buy when price touches the middle band and sell when price touches the upper band. Momentum traders tend to buy on price breakouts above the upper band, and sell when price breaks down below the lower band. 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI): A reading below 30 is considered oversold, above 70 is overbought. A rise above 50 with a corresponding share price surge above the 30-day moving average should be taken as a bullish move with good short-term upside potential. A fall below 50 and a simultaneous dip below the 30-day average is bearish and imply further near-term downside risk. Moving Averages: A stock’s short-term trend is bullish if share price stays above the 10-day moving average, and bearish if it stays below. The medium-term trend is positive if share price stays above the 30-day average, and negative if it remains below. A longer-term uptrend is intact if share price sustain above the 50-day average, and is deemed broken if it breaches below this level. Directional Movement Indicator (DMI): The DMI is an indicator of trend strength. A positive DMI difference (DMI diff) value is bullish and indicate a higher DI+ vs. DI-, while a negative DMI diff is bearish due to a lower DI+ vs. DI- (DMI diff = DI+ minus DI-). A crossover of DI+ above DI- triggers a BUY signal, while a SELL signal is flashed when the DI+ crosses below the DI-. The Average Directional Movement Index (ADX) indicates the strength of a trend, whether it is up or down. The higher the value of ADX, the stronger the trend. An ADX value above 25 suggests a trending market or stock, while a value below 20 signal congestion or absence of trend. Daily Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD): The MACD diff value is derived from the difference between the MACD line (the 12-day EMA minus the 26-day EMA) and the MACD signal line (the 9-day EMA of the MACD). A positive MACD diff value is bullish, while a negative MACD diff is bearish. A BUY signal is generated when the MACD diff rises above zero, and SELL signal sparked when the MACD diff value falls below zero. Page 1 of 2 Technical Comments: Any further strength on Sime Darby shares towards the 10-day ma (RM8.14), with stronger resistance seen at the upper Bollinger band (RM8.33), should encourage profit taking, while immediate supports are at RM7.82 and RM7.77, the respective 100 and 200-day ma. Likewise, further gains on Tenaga will be attractive to take profit, especially towards the 76.4%FR (RM14.35) and upper Bollinger band (RM14.44), while key chart supports are at 61.8%FR (RM14.02) and 50%FR (RM13.75). This is a good watch list for momentum traders looking for short-term BUY ideas, as they are laggards with good upside potential towards the upper Bollinger band or higher to TAKE PROFIT/SELL. Caveat: Some stocks may continue to stay range bound and trade sideways, hence traders should refer to their respective charts to spot accumulation (volume growth) or breakout patterns. INTERPRETATION OF TECHNICAL INDICATORS: Moving Averages: A stock’s short-term trend is bullish if share price stays above the 10-day moving average, and bearish if it stays below. The mediumterm trend is positive if share price stays above the 30-day, and negative if it remains below this average. 14-day RSI: A reading below 30 is considered oversold, above 70 is overbought. A rise above 50 with a corresponding share price surge above the 30-day SMA should be taken as a bullish move with good short-term upside potential. A fall below 50 and a simultaneous dip below the 30-day SMA is bearish and imply further near-term downside risk. Bollinger Bands: Variable width bands that narrow during less volatile periods and widen during more volatile periods. As a general rule, in a bearish trend, traders should buy when share price touches the lower band and exit when price touches the middle band. The reverse is true in a bullish trend, ie. Buy when price touches the middle band and sell when price touches the upper band. Momentum traders will buy on price breaks above the upper band, and sell when price breaks below the lower band. Alternatively, a sharp move that originates at one band tends to go all the way to the other band, a useful observation when projecting price targets. Page 1 of 2 TA Securities A Member of the TA Group *Note: To qualify in the breakout list below, the first sorting criteria is stock price must close ABOVE the upper Bollinger Band, followed by a second criteria that trading volume for the day must be significantly higher than the 20-day average volume, which signal a bullish breakout. Caveat: We would caution momentum traders that a highly overbought 14-day RSI reading (> 80) and share price pullback BELOW the upper Bollinger Band are early warning signals to exit buy breakout trades. Page 1 of 2 TA Securities A Member of the TA Group INTERPRETATION OF TECHNICAL INDICATORS: Bollinger Bands: Variable width bands that narrow during less volatile periods and widen during more volatile periods. A rise above 50 with a corresponding share price surge above the 30day moving average should be taken as a bullish move with good short-term upside potential. A fall below 50 and a simultaneous dip below the 30-day average is bearish and imply further near-term downside risk. Moving Averages: A stock’s short-term trend is bullish if share price stays above the 10-day moving average, and bearish if it stays below. The medium-term trend is positive if share price stays above the 30-day average and negative if it remains below. Page 1 of 2 TA Securities A Member of the TA Group INTERPRETATION OF TECHNICAL INDICATORS: Bollinger Bands: Variable width bands that narrow during less volatile periods and widen during more volatile periods. Some other popularly traded stocks are included at the bottom section. The technical BUY/SELL signals on the last four columns are auto generated; the first two being existing or recent signals while the last two represent a signal change from BUY to SELL or the reverse, otherwise no change is indicated by a dash. Stock names and technical statistics in bold highlight stocks that have changes in BUY/SELL signals on the DMI and MACD on the given date. Page 1 of 2 INTERPRETATION OF TECHNICAL INDICATORS: Bollinger Bands: Variable width bands that narrow during less volatile periods and widen during more volatile periods.
