We take great pride in our rich history, while simultaneously preparing for our future. In 1983 the very first computer for the library was purchased. It was an APPLE II + with modem. Ten years later in 1993, the library completed its first inventory using computer systems and wiring was installed connecting the learning resource center with the computer lab. In 1994, all library materials were circulated using a computer system. Today, the library is an educational resource space at the heart of teaching and the cornerstone of collaborative student engagement. It serves a critical role in supporting students as they navigate informational literacy and technology in the 21st century. The library is used before school, every period during the school day and after school. It is in constant use and serves our entire student body in grades 9-12. We host many events and activities in the library throughout the year – including events open to the wider community. Your gift to tonight’s ‘Fund-a-Need’ will ensure Kennedy Catholic can fulfill its commitment to provide school programming that promotes a 21st century learning environment. This year, the KATCH Auction Fund-a-Need will support a complete renovation of the library scheduled for the summer of 2016. Your gift is a deeply meaningful way to support our mission in a direct, tangible and focused way. On behalf of all Lancers, current and future, our entire faculty and staff and our community, we offer our deepest and most humble thank you. Please plan to raise your paddle high! Let’s invest in and prepare for Kennedy Catholic’s next 50 years. Please give generously tonight. Your donation is 100% tax deductible. Gifts at the following levels are most appreciated. $10,000 $5,000 $2,500 $1,000 $500 $250 $100 Chairmen’s Letter Dear Friends, It’s going to be an amazing year of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Kennedy Catholic High School with the festivities starting at the KATCH auction. We are honored to be part of the 44th annual auction and are so grateful for the amazing volunteers and Kennedy Catholic staff who worked tirelessly to make this a successful community event. We thank you for joining us for what will surely be an exquisite evening. While we are not alumni, through our experiences with Kennedy Catholic, we have become ‘Lancers for Life’. We have witnessed firsthand the academic, spiritual and personal growth our children and their classmates have made as part of this community. We’ve enjoyed our own experiences with the Lancer family. The auction is critical in both continuing to improve Kennedy Catholic and in making it accessible to as many students as possible. This is a special celebration of the school’s legacy and we are excited to be part of making Kennedy Catholic even better. Tonight’s Fund-an-Item for the library project will modernize the space and make it a place that is more comfortable and desirable to work-in and engage with others. Please be generous in supporting this next step in upgrading our facilities. Kennedy Catholic is a place filled with opportunities for so many different types of young adults as they prepare for their future. The school stays true to its mission of graduating leaders following Christ in a school community that is accessible, diverse and committed to pursuing the fullest potential of every student. In addition to a diverse and challenging academic program designed to meet the needs of all students, the school offers a variety of activities so everyone is able to learn a sense of personal responsibility, teamwork, leadership, faith and service to others. We look forward to welcoming parents, alumni and other friends of Kennedy Catholic to this special event and thank you for your support of our school. Warm regards, Drew & Laurie Davies Principal & President Message Dear Lancers, Welcome to the 2016 Gala Auction! This year we celebrate 50 years of Kennedy Catholic – Celebrating our Past, Inspiring our Future. This is a unique time to commemorate our historic milestones, myriad achievements and many innovative firsts since our founding. We hope your experience tonight is memorable. We are grateful to the many generous individuals and businesses who contributed items and sponsorships. We are very proud to be recipients of their support. Our deepest thanks to Drew and Laurie Davies, our auction chairs, who have spent months behind the scenes, planning tonight’s great event. They have led a talented committee of dedicated volunteers listed in this catalog. Upon entry each guest will be given a bid paddle. Each person issued a bid paddle assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising there from Kennedy Catholic High School, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction. Silent Auction: Write your bid number on the silent auction bid sheet next to the amount you wish to bid. You may not write in amounts; you must use the amounts listed on the bid sheet. No bidder may block access to the bid sheets. Place your bid and step back from the bid sheet. The bid number next to the highest bid amount will be declared the purchaser of that item. Guaranteed Bids: If you wish to guarantee your purchase of a particular item, write your bid number on the line at the bottom of the bid sheet designated “Guaranteed Bid”. By doing so, you agree to pay the “Guaranteed Bid” amount and that item is yours. Table Closing: All items on the silent auction tables may be bid upon until the tables are officially closed by the judges. Persons in process may complete writing their bid. In the event of a dispute, the closing judge or designated silent auction official will determine the winning bid. The official’s decision will be final. If there are two or more bidders actively bidding on an item at the time the table closes, they may notify a silent auction official and request a mini oral auction. • Winning Bid: The highest bid written on the silent auction form, and designated by the silent auction official as the top bid, is a legal contract to purchase that silent auction item. Live Auction: Bidders should be seated before the live portion of the auction begins. Raise your paddle high in the air, facing the direction of the auctioneer so the auctioneer can clearly see your bid number. After the last paddle has been raised, the auctioneer will announce the item SOLD and will move to the next item. A bid acknowledged by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item; an auction official will bring you a form to sign acknowledging your purchase. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole discretion to determine the winning bid or to re-offer the item in dispute. 2. Kennedy Catholic High School has, in good faith, attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered as is, where is. The school neither warrants nor represents, and in no event will be responsible for, the Auction Rules correctness of description, authenticity, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. A written or oral bid at KATCH constitutes a legal contract to buy the item. All sales are final. In case of disputes, the decision of the KATCH official is final. 11. KATCH and the auctioneer reserve the right to reject any bid which is a partial advance over the prior bid increment. 12. All items must be paid for the night of the auction.
