Squash in Potomac and McLean
Squash is one of the fastest growing sports in the USA
b ecause it’ s fun to play and fun to watch. It’ s a great
lifetime and social sport that is played year round and
in 175 nations around the world. It develops b oth b ody
and mind because it demands peak fitness and chesslike strategy to excel. G reat squash players can b e
sort or tall – size confers no advantage. There are
many styles of play and ways to win. There are competitions and teams for b oys and girls of all ages and
skill levels.
Over 50 colleges and universities now offer varsity
squash or competitive club squash programs Colleges that offer varsity programs include all
the Ivy League schools and New England Small College Athletic Conference ( NESCAC) , which
includes Amherst, Bates, Bowdoin, Trinity, Tufts and Williams. Three universities – Stanford,
GWU and Drexel -- now offer squash scholarships. The University of Virginia recently opened
9 squash courts and will have a varsity team in the coming years. We offer a variety of options
for j uniors to get introduced to the game through elite level competition.
Lessons
Work on specific skills in a focused lesson. Private
and semi-private lessons are great for new players
want to learn the basics the right way the first time
through experienced players who want to focus on a
specific area of their game.
The team offers private lessons for 45 minutes or a
half-hour. Semi private lessons are one hour long.
Match Play
It is critical for j unior players to b e on court playing
games in order to improve their squash, and also
to b uild a sense of fair play, competitive spirit and
comradery with other players. I host match play on
Wednesdays:
5:30-6:30 Beginners
6:30-8:00 Intermediate
Clinics
Clinics are a great way to b uild skill in a group
setting. Meet a new partner, practices in game-like
setting, and meet your b udget with a clinic!
