This is a masterpiece, the end of which seemingly has never been written.” 96 Points Whisky Bible 2011 Only one available 3 PREMIUM SPIRITS 4 PREMIUM SPIRITS HIGHLAND PARK 50 YEAR OLD $17,500.00 750 ml 406348 Complex and multi-layered; dusty and old tobacco pouch at first. Slowly the emphasis moves to fruit and spices; cooked damsons, raisins and nutmeg are prevalent. At full strength, it is rich and spicy with excellent tannins and notes of muscovado sugar to the fore with a hint of wax. When reduced, orange peel, camphor and cloves emerge. Long and very spicy, slightly smoky remnants. For serious collectors only, this is ultra rare and as old as they get. Only 275 bottles created. Each bottle is hand-crafted from sterling silver and designed by Maeve Gillies, an internationallyrenowned designer of engagement rings and bridal jewellery based in New York. Only one available 5 PREMIUM SPIRITS Whiskies Scotch Malt HIGHLAND PARK 40 YEAR OLD $2,000.00 750 ml 105932 “A complex array of dried fruit on the nose, peppered with dried spice, orange marmalade, dark chocolate, and wood shavings. On the palate, the immediate impact is once again marmalade, followed briefly by bramble before drier notes of dark chocolate, wood shavings, anise, and subtle smoke emerge. Dry and spicy on the finish, but never austere. A delicious, contemplative 40 year old Highland Park that has aged gracefully.” 93 Points Malt Advocate Bottle Limit – 1 6 PREMIUM SPIRITS HIGHLAND PARK 30 YEAR OLD $499.95 750 ml 170274 “There are soft shades of smoke and honey; the gentle embers of smoke add further weight to the metallic coppery sharpness which shows this dram is still alive and kicking; busy, ever more intense layering of vanilla and cocoa, but the smoke and honey simply cannot be repressed; one of the whiskies of the year. A whisky for the gods...but only if they are worthy” 95.5 Points Whisky Bible 2011 Bottle Limit – 1 7 PREMIUM SPIRITS HIGHLAND PARK 21 YEAR OLD $279.95 700 ml 143495 “Rounded, deep and mossy. Aromatic, toasty oak tangerine zest almost floral smokiness: incense, scented candles. Tantalising mix of the fragrant, the sweet and the dry. Best neat. Spicy with plenty of ginger and nutmeg. Good length, dry smoke, then heather. Mellow, yet firm enough to add a layer of complexity. The finish is crisp and long.” -David Broom, World’s Best Single Malt 2009 - Whisky Magazine Bottle Limit – 2 8 PREMIUM SPIRITS THE DALMORE 1981 AMOROSO FINESSE $735.00 750 ml 784413 “A seductive Dalmore. Very fruity too, with Seville orange, peaches in syrup, clementine, pineapple, and bramble. Sugared almond, powdered vanilla, ginger, and lush sherry on the finish add depth and dimension. Consistent on the nose and palate, and with great balance. Very lovely!” 92 Points Malt Advocate Bottle Limit – 1 9 PREMIUM SPIRITS GLENMORANGIE FINEALTA $89.95 700 ml 185009 Caramelized orange and peaches soaked in liqueur are instantly revealed before giving way to sugared almonds, raisins, lime and a hint of distant woodsmoke. Mandarin, marmalade and hints of cherry brandy combine with the spiciness of nutmeg and ginger before icing sugar, chewy meringue and violet build up slowly on the palate. Full, rounded aromatic smoke with chalky minerals lingers on top of subtle layers of powdery floral scents. 10 PREMIUM SPIRITS ARDBEG ALLIGATOR $138.95 700 ml 181495 “A portion of the whisky was aged in heavily charred barrels (referred to as an “Alligator” char). An aggressive whisky—even for Ardbeg—with a leathery texture throughout. Dynamic too, with coal tar soot, bourbon barrel char, espresso, cocoa, licorice root, smoked fish, and hint of ginger. There’s a nice creamy vanilla underbelly to balance the aggressiveness and (at least partially) muzzle the Alligator.” 92 points Malt Advocate Bottle Limit – 1 11 PREMIUM SPIRITS THE ARRAN AMARONE CASK FINISH $88.88 700 ml199489 “Perhaps the best Arran nose of all time; dry rosepetaly Turkish Delight moistened with grape and toasted almond; melt-in-the-mouth arrival with succulent grape and bitter-sweet apricot and nuts; beautiful chocolate and latte mix as the soft fruit tantalises even further; a true gold nugget of a bottling. I’m astonished at its total brilliance.” 96 Points - Whisky Bible 2009 12 PREMIUM SPIRITS BALVENIE PEAT CASK 17YR $162.50 750 ml 562967 Balvenie Peated Cask is comprised of a marriage of 17-year old Balvenie finished in new oak and 17-year old finished in casks that had previously held an unreleased experimental heavily-peated Balvenie distilled in 2001. The nose on this expression is honeyed malt, which is The Balvenie’s signature, soft oak dried apricots, orange liqueur, with some wood smoke notes chasing the fruit. 13 PREMIUM SPIRITS BRUICHLADDICH OCTOMORE $179.99 750 ml 162511 It’s like getting hit by a 20-foot wave that’s crashed over the peat bogs of Islay. Absolutely brilliant!!! What a sensation, definitely not for the faint hearted. The senses are totally ambushed, the palate receptors going crazy with the olfactory system for not releasing an early storm warning. Both are sucked into a vortex of peat smoke and fire, iodine, wet seaweed, tarry pitch and soaking sailcloth. Bottle Limit – 1 14 PREMIUM SPIRITS BRUICHLADDICH DNA 2ND EDITION 1977 $449.99 700 ml 162487 Distilled in two lots on 1st July & 26th October 1977 - the year Elvis died - it was matured on Islay for over 32 years in 100% American oak bourbon casks. Such was the purity of this spirit when tasted from cask, legendary distiller Jim McEwan decided that it was impossible to improve any further; consequently it has been bottled straight, “as is”. Bottle Limit – 1 15 PREMIUM SPIRITS BENRIACH BIRNIE MOSS $69.99 700 ml 177147 Birnie Moss is an area of windswept moorland situated close to the BenRiach Distillery and it is this wild place that gives this single malt its name. The first bespoke whisky to be delivered from the BenRiach Distillery under its current stewardship and heralds a new chapter in production. Different in style for a Speyside malt, this unique expression wields its peaty, smoky character with a precocious vigour. www.benriach.com awarded 93 pts Whisky Bible 2011 16 PREMIUM SPIRITS CLYNELISH DISTILLERS EDITION $122.99 750 ml 520197 Each Distillers Edition expression undergoes a second (or ‘double’) maturation in casks that have previously held a fortified wine. On the nose, there are raisins, in fact rum and raisin with dried orange peel, dried cherry, sultana, apricot and some honey. In time, a clean walnut crispness appears and water makes it softer. There’s still a slightly piercing quality - tangerine and chocolate. Silky soft. Very sweet with plumped up dried fruit, Sultana cake with thick butter and underneath a bowl of nuts; hazelnut and macadamia. A slightly salty quality cutting through the unctuous texture. Short with a hint of nut-shell bitterness. Brilliant, clean and refined with great balance. 17 PREMIUM SPIRITS GLENFIDDICH 40 YEAR OLD $3,029.00 700 ml 300442 “Deliciously appetizing. A real depth of honey aromas, which seem to emerge in layers, as though each were extracted from a different flower. Its flavours are so dovetailed that they are reluctant to unfold. After a few drinks the whisky does begin to reveal itself, but it demands one’s full attention. It tells its story a little at a time, drily, almost teasingly. It makes such good company that I am reluctant to share it.” Michael Jackson, Author The Malt Whisky Companion” Bottle Limit – 1 18 PREMIUM SPIRITS GLENFARCLAS 40 YEAR OLD $411.99 700 ml 189290 “Beautifully defined oak; almost chestnut sweet with clean sherry, softly peated and bourbony. The palate is teasingly spicy with sweetness and intense malt. Hint of liquorice. Long, chewy, smoky and initially sweet with the liquorice continuing, dries slowly to an oaky encore. An almost immaculate portrayal of an old-fashioned, high quality malt. Quite outstanding for its age.” 92 Points Whisky Bible 2011 Bottle Limit – 1 19 PREMIUM SPIRITS LAPHROAIG CAIRDEAS $89.95 750 ml 136598 “It starts off with mellow peat smoke with woody undertones. There is young wood, ‘pencil shavings’ as Robert Hicks (Master Blender) describes it. Some refreshing citrus, banana and red fruit. Overall very creamy and rather sweet, with hints of burnt sugar, lemon pie, roasted almonds, espresso and liquorice. The finish is long with diminishing sweetness, leaving the peat smoke behind.” Cairdeas means friendship in Gaelic and this exclusive offering is only available to special friends of Laphroaig. whiskynotes.com Bottle Limit – 1 20 PREMIUM SPIRITS LAPHROAIG TRIPLEWOOD $89.95 750 ml 180174 “This is a monster by anyone’s standards! It’s essentially Quarter Cask finished in oloroso sherry casks, so in addition to the intense charcoal smoke attack there are rich fruity notes; blackcurrant and berries. It’s an evening barbecue whisky. Grill that fish until it’s blackened and crispy, drizzle on lemon, and as the smoke rears up in protest, sip this. Big, moody, broody, fruity, and rich: what’s not to love?” 94 Points Malt Advocate Bottle Limit – 1 21 PREMIUM SPIRITS ISLE OF JURA PROPHECY $109.99 750 ml 175299 “Lavish aromas of creme brulee, oatmeal with brown sugar, dried fruits, honeyed nuts and iodinetinged peat follow through on a supple, silky entry to a dry-yet-fruity, medium-full body with superb depth and balance. Finishes with a long, resonant and earthy melange of citrus marmalade, honey and smoky peat. Like drinking buried treasure.” 97 Points, Chicago’s Beverage Testing Institute 22 PREMIUM SPIRITS MACALLAN 21 YEAR OLD FINE OAK $349.95 750 ml 292862 Triple cask matured in a unique, complex combination; Spanish oak casks seasoned with sherry, American oak casks seasoned with sherry and American oak casks seasoned with bourbon. This combination delivers an extraordinarily smooth, delicate yet complex malt. Intense and rich, with a hint of vanilla and passion fruit. Soft, rich and spicy on the palate with a hint of oranges and peat. The finish is lingering, with a hint of wood smoke. 23 PREMIUM SPIRITS TALISKER DISTILLERS EDITION $85.99 750 ml 776955 “Matured in amoroso casks. The amoroso softens Talisker’s fiery personality and adds a gentle sweetness not normally found in Talisker. There’s a lot going on here-notes of toffee and dark chocolate, layered with bitter orange, seaweed, kippers, smoked nuts, damp peat, and kalamata olives, finishing with a peppery glow. Not an every day dram-one has to be in the mood for a whisky like this.” 90 Points Malt Advocate 24 PREMIUM SPIRITS Whiskies Scottish Vatted Malt COMPASS BOX OAK CROSS $59.99 700 ml 208231 “Delicate fruit, then an oak surge towards the middle; throughout subtle spices pop and tickle around the palate. The oak/spice/barley/fruit ratio is just about perfect; some wonderful semi-dry marzipan at the death is cloaked in cocoa; a vatting of exceptionally high class malts which have embraced the oak without ever yielding to it. Superb! This is genius whisky that must be drunk exactly as nature intended.” 94 Points Whisky Bible 2009 25 PREMIUM SPIRITS Whiskies Irish CONNEMARA TURF MOR $130.00 700 ml 899872 “Glorious lavender freshening the stodgy peat to ensure excellent balance; absolutely spot on delivery; the peat is thick and immediately filing the mouth with smoke, yet the barley juiciness oozes into every pore; long with hickory adding a firmer foundation to the smoke; fizzing peat tingles the tongue. Some bourbon aspects don’t just prop up the act, they add fabulously to the proceedings.“ 94 Points Whisky Bible 2011 26 PREMIUM SPIRITS Whiskies American BUFFALO TRACE ANTIQUE COLLECTION The annual release of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection will once again feature five limitedrelease whiskies of various ages, recipes and proofs. Introduced a decade ago, it continues to grow in popularity. Since 2000 these whiskies have garnered numerous awards from such notable publications as Malt Advocate Magazine and Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. Available only at 39th & Cambie. Bottle Limit – 1 of each EAGLE RARE 17 YEAR OLD $175.00 750 ml 556092 Masterfully crafted and carefully aged for no less than ten years, each barrel is discriminately selected. The rareness of this great breed of bourbon is evident in its complex aroma, as well as the smooth and lingering taste. Each bottle offers consistent flavors, but with a seemingly individual personality from each unique barrel. GEORGE T. STAGG UNCUT UNFILTERED 750 ml $175.00 134007 George T. Stagg, an uncut, unfiltered rye recipe bourbon, has a characteristically high proof – some strong stuff! While just as delicious as in years past, you may pick up some different notes in this year’s release. 28 PREMIUM SPIRITS SAZERAC 18 YEAR OLD 750 ml $175.00 364133 “This is an amazing, truly unique whiskey. There is no rye whiskey on the market that is as old or perfectly balanced as this one. For all who can’t get enough flavors and intensity in you whiskey your search has ended.” 95 Points Malt Advocate. THOMAS H. HANDY SAZERAC STRAIGHT RYE WHISKEY $175.00 750 ml 56630 Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye is an uncut and unfiltered straight rye whiskey. This year’s Handy will also carry a high proof and will be delicious as ever. WILLIAM LARUE WELLER UNCUT UNFILTERED 750 ml $175.00 369918 William Larue Weller is the Antique Collection’s uncut, unfiltered, wheat recipe bourbon. This release will also be high-proof, anywhere in the range of 110-115 proof and delightful to lovers of wheated bourbon. 29 PREMIUM SPIRITS SAZERAC 6 YEAR OLD RYE $49.99 750 ml 294199 “Firm, unambiguous rye with minimum yield and complexity. Almost candy-like in its sugar and spice qualities.” 91 Points Whisky Bible 2011 30 PREMIUM SPIRITS BLANTON’S GOLD LABEL $119.99 750 ml 117705 Created for discerning connoisseurs who appreciate exceptional smoothness and clean finish in their bourbon whiskey. The rich taste of dark fudge, citrus, oak and cream combined with the spiciness of white pepper and rye lead to a long finish that challenges the world’s finest single malts and rarest cognacs in complexity and character. 31 PREMIUM SPIRITS PAPPY VAN WINKLE’S 20 YEAR OLD BOURBON $174.99 750 ml 324749 This whiskey is wonderfully smooth and rich. No other bourbon today can stand 20 years of aging, but this bourbon does it with style. Pappy Van Winkle was a true character. This bourbon, like ‘Pappy’, is full of the character that makes it a very special whiskey. Bottle Limit – 1 32 PREMIUM SPIRITS PAPPY VAN WINKLE’S 23 YEAR OLD BOURBON $249.99 750 ml 33613 This ultimate beverage comes from select barrels which have aged the bourbon most gracefully. The flavor complexities and smoothness is unparalleled in the industry. Bottle Limit – 1 33 PREMIUM SPIRITS RIDGEMONT RESERVE 1792 BARREL SELECT $74.99 750 ml 753905 “A shade heavier than when I first tasted this one with the oak showing a burlier attitude. However, the unique rye fizz ensures a delightful and by no means understated degree of charm. Fabulously different and wholly adorable.” 92.5 Points Whisky Bible 2011 34 PREMIUM SPIRITS india AMRUT INTERMEDIATE SHERRY $149.99 700 ml 158527 “Brain-exploding complexity and multi-layered. The structure is decidedly oak-based, but acts as no more than a skeleton from which the juicy sultana and spices drape. The liquorice-orangeyhoneycomb bourbon theme quietly shapes the flavour profile; the spices pulse and glow; quite a chunk of natural caramel quietens the more exuberant characteristics; long and elegant; Amrut is spoiling us again.” 96.5 Points Whisky Bible 2011 36 PREMIUM SPIRITS WALES PENDERYN 41 MADEIRA $75.00 700 ml 147892 Matured initially in bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace, then finished in Madeira barriques. As a result, the “41” is incredibly easy to drink, a lighter style of Penderyn. The French describe it as an ‘aperitif whisky’. Jim Murray says “don’t think for a moment it’s the reduction of strength that makes this work so well. Rather, it’s outstanding integration of the outlandishly good Madeira casks with the vanilla” 91.5 Points Whisky Bible 2011 37 PREMIUM SPIRITS Japan NIKKA PURE MALT BLACK $69.95 .500L192559 “The kind of nose you can sink your head into and simply disappear; for all the evident peat, this is medium-weighted, the subtlety encased in a gentle cloak of oil; long, silky, fabulously weighted peat running a sweet course through some surging malt and liquorice tones with a bit of salt in there for zip. You open a bottle of this at your peril; best to do so in the company of friends.” 95 Points Whisky Bible 2011 38 PREMIUM SPIRITS NIKKA PURE MALT WHITE $69.95 .500L193326 “Islay-style peat with a fresh sea kick thanks to brine amid the barley. The sweetness of the barley is tempered by some drying oaky notes suggesting reasonable age. Lots of subtle oils bind the complexity; liquorice and salt combine to create a powerful malty-oak combo. An oily, kippery smokiness continues to the very end; a big peaty number.” 92 Points Whisky Bible 2011 39 PREMIUM SPIRITS Rum ST. LUCIA ADMIRAL RODNEY $79.99 750 ml 6494 Incredibly attractive nose packed with complexity of rich honeyed fruit with prunes, sweet raisins and well integrated oak toast. On the palate it is concentrated, complex with velvety caramel crème brûlée and hints of vanilla, spice and chocolate from long ageing. Well balanced and harmonious with an exceptionally long finish. 2011 Double Gold Medal Winner San Francisco World Spirits Competition 40 PREMIUM SPIRITS Cognac COURVOISIER 12 YEAR OLD $89.95 750 ml 675223 On the nose, notes of violets and orange blossoms quickly meld into spicy clove, ginger and star anise. Delicate vanilla completes the aromatic harmony. On the palate, almonds, raisins and orange marmalade are nurtured from the Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, leading to a long and harmonious finish. Pairs magnificently with luscious sweets, desserts and chocolates. 41 PREMIUM SPIRITS Liqueurs AITA ROOT ORGANIC $79.99 750 ml 688879 Distilled from organic sugar cane grown in the U.S. Incredibly unique in flavour, fairly clean on the palate with strong notes of birch, peppery herbaceousness, spices, citrus and vanilla bean. Very aromatic in the glass and finishes medium dry and exceptionally full-bodied. A truly original spirit with a strong enough backbone to hold up in a cocktail. A classic but like nothing else! 42 PREMIUM SPIRITS AITA GINGER SNAP ORGANIC $76.99 750 ml 265033 The second creation from Philadelphia’s Art in the Age (AITA) distillery. The recipe pays homage to the Lebkuchen of the nearby Pennsylvania Dutch and is made with blackstrap molasses, fresh ginger and spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove. The distillery takes those ingredients--plus vanilla, brown sugar and Rooibos tea--and distills them into a sophisticated version of the traditional holiday sweet. 43 Lower Mainland 39th & Cambie 5555 Cambie St Vancouver, BC V5Z 3A3 604 660 9463 Abbotsford 40–32500 South Fraser Way Abbotsford, BC V2T 4W1 604 870 5919 Fleetwood 8904–152nd St Surrey, BC V3R 4E4 604 582 0008 HighGate Village 235–7155 Kingsway Burnaby, BC V5E 2V1 604 660 8731 Langley 6435–201 St Langley, BC V2Y 2X4 604 532 4911 Meadowtown Unit 810–19800 Lougheed Hwy Pitt Meadows, BC V3Y 2W1 604 460 2601 Nicola Station 140–1097 Nicola Ave Port Coquitlam, BC V3B 8B2 604 464 3576 Nordel Crossing Unit 116–12080 Nordel Way Surrey, BC V3W 1P6 604 596 2421 Northgate Unit 103–3433 North Road Burnaby, BC V3J 0A9 604 664 0844 Park Royal 570 Park Royal North West Vancouver, BC V7T 1A1 604 981 0011 Richmond Ironwood 3170–11666 Steveston Hwy Richmond, BC V7A 5J3 604 664 0701 Alberni & BUTE 768 Bute St Vancouver, BC V6E 4H6 604 660 4572 Westwood Centre 100–2748 Lougheed Hwy Port Coquitlam, BC V3B 6P2 604 927 2681 Outside Lower Mainland Fort Street 1960 Foul Bay Rd Victoria, BC V8R 5A7 250 952 4220 Kamloops Columbia Pl 600–1210 Summit Dr Kamloops, BC V2C 6M1 250 828 4319 Kelowna Mission Park 35–3155 Lakeshore Rd Kelowna, BC V1W 3S9 250 861 7260 Kelowna Orchard Pk 109–1835 Dilworth Dr Kelowna, BC V1Y 9T1 250 861 7337 Penticton Plaza 405–1301 Main St Penticton, BC V2A 5E9 250 492 1319 Prince George Pine CtR 3173 Massey Dr Prince George, BC V2N 2S9 250 561 5608 Vernon Unit 245A – Village Green Mall 4900 27th St Vernon, BC V1T 7G7 250 503 3610 Victoria Westshore Unit 600–2945 Jacklin Rd Langford, BC V9B 5E3 250 391 2811 www.bcliquorstores.com Prices are subject to change without notice.
