my boyfriend does it, it's his computer
Every Day
I don't do it manually, and I'm not sure if it's done for me
whenever the reminder pops up
bi-weekly
I'm not sure
when i am not lazy
When appropriate (just updated from ME to 2000)
Not sure if it is automatic, but I have never updated it.
Whenever it tells me to

when needed
i dont know
Do not own one
hardly ever . . . i think!
I get notices of new updates and install as they appear.
Update whenever I feel like it: selective
My partner does it
I have no clue
I dont know my brother does all of it for me by remote access.
I don't know
Only the necessary ones
whenever it tells me there are updates available.
Whenever I feel like it, or when microsoft does it when i turn off the computer
when my computer notifies me of important updates
when it tells me to
occasionally
less than monthly, more than never. Try "rarely"
I don't know
Occasionally
not sure
my boyfriend does it
Whichever updates I feel are necessary
once every 6 months
every few months; as prompted by
Daily
by-monthly
If it ain't broke, I don't try to fix it. I only update apps when necessary. A/V sw updates automatically.

what ub software??? quest.#20???
Seems like it is reletivly easy to obtain in many convienient ways.
Preloaded on laptops purchased from UB Micro
both cd and download
Both is convienent
PS- Deep down I prefer the CD, but 1. it's probably unnecessarily costly for the school, and 2. the software is often
outdated by the time such CDs get distributed (especially browser and email clients and virus scanners' virus
definitions)

Additional firewall that is not needed for me slows me down whenevr I use net. Most of the ports are closed, including
the ports that I use. It should be banned, or at least, optional.
needs to be more strict
Should be able to be used by multiple computers as I have 2 laptops and use them simultaneously.
NetPass needs to be refined. Its a pain to sign in everytime you get back to your computer.

The NetPass site that occassionally loads usually increases the wait time to get onto the internet.
No interest
What is net pass?
I dont know what it even does?
Linux!!!!
Its a pain to use devices without browsers
Let people secure their own machines. Mine's safe; they can't infect it.
don't live on campus
I have no idea about Netpass
i dont know what that is
dont know what it is
what is net pass
i don't live on campus.
UB firewall sucks, tunneling through with secure vpn to florida server; definatly faster connection with vpn enabled vs
not on
i don't reside on campass
I understand why it is needed b.ut it is annoying
The seed of internet connection is kinda limited during daytime.
do not live
I do not reside in on-campus housing.
if a firewall is intalled or if behind a router net pass will never find any problems even if there are problems so i think it
is useless because i won't turn off my firewall for netpass to check my computer.
i dont know what NetPass is
I have never used the computers at UB. I have a laptop and a home computer.
need to sync passwords and user names

I would like to see more electronic journals that are Occupational Therapy based such as AJOT journals and Journal of
Occupational Science
i need more ubfs space.. a lot more.
MyUB is too cluttered to weed out important information from the fluff.
Public access in the CFA is needed. All computers require an additional $100 fee to use.
n/a
More workstations around campus would be great.
Greater electronic access to backdated and obscure journals the library does not subscribe to is needed
I really like MyUB and wish I had had something like it at the school I transferred from
no comments
Make the wireless more campus wide...make it work everywhere.
more computers in libraries
the people working the printers never do their job at the HSL, I always see students sorting the pritnouts while the
workers SIT! It's frustrating!
no somment
labs should be open on the weekends and after 5
we need more computers
I purchased a laptop because it was too difficult to get a free computer to use.
The UB wireless network should be available in the dorms and apartments!!!
More scanning sites.
Shouldn't English students have a cozy writing center?
none
I thought we had web space and develpment tools.
Every single university decided it was a great idea to have a "portal". It is NOT 1995. Portals suck, they have always
sucked, they will always suck, so don't waste your time. I use it exclusvely to get to other links I could just as well
type.

I can't comment about anything related direct to services provided at UB because I have yet to use any services
onsite.
Increase library's online subscriptions to more databases and journals
make using online article and journal resources easier to navigate.
The articles available online need to ALL be accessible. I cannot tell you how many times I have found articles that
were not full next nor locatable. Its hard to do research without getting easily frustrated.
10mb is not enough web space.
After logging into MYUB, I wish that I didn't have to re-enter my UBIT name and password to open up UBLearns or
Webmail. It would be nice, after logging into MYUB, if clicking on those links would go automatically to their pages.

wireless networks in large lecture areas are hard to connect to, unless you sit in the back.
The printing situation on campus has improved.
one log in for all my ub sites, webmail, ublearns, blackboard!!!!!
LAMP SERVER yea DUDEK
It is becoming increasingly important in my department, Library Science to be able to use web development software
such as Dreamweaver.
More web space!
I would KILL for any sort of server-side processing on the UB webspace. Ruby would be nice, but even PHP would
work. I can't use my UB hosting for nontrivial sites, let alone work for Web Programming classes, because there's no
server-side. Please?
Not all library reserve materials for my course are available on-line. It would be helpful as a commuter if they were.
Faster machines/log in time would help!
It's always important to innovate, even if you have the best system.
I wish there was a format for myub that helped you read it better. it can all jumble together and students have
difficulty finding what they need if they haven't looked for it before. also, i have NO luck with the search engine...time
for a tweak?
more computers and printers are needed to go with the increasing number of students that are attending the school
n/a
i like the way things are.
I have yet to use many of these resources yet.
I wish that the UBWebmail was a little more advanced
Our web space should be at least as large as our email space.
Stop taking away online resources from library like oxford core reference
sometimes i have to wait a while for a computer at the libraries
please expand the wireless connection through on campus apartment
I want full-campus wireless coverage

web registration should be 24/7 but it closes at 11
There is no reason whatsoever that all of these should not be 24 hours
A lot of other universties have these services avaiable 24/7, it does not make sense why there is such a long
downtime. Backups and updates should be able to be done in realtime.
Checkstops are stupid!!!! all they do is cause unneeded trouble, they should not interfer with registration for classes.
I am freqently finding myself logging in 'after hours'. It is very frustrating.
it's really inconvenient, as a college student on a weird sleeping schedule, to try to look something up that closed
down at 11pm. the internet is supposed to be available all the time!!!
DARS and web reg. most important
I understand that those services aren't working after 11pm because there's no support personel at night, but put a
disclaimer - that would solve the problem
everything works fine the way it is now.
should add more space for the web registration, there are many difficulties to access.
all convenient
during the registration rush web registration was full to capacity and BIRD didn't allow acess until after dozens of tries,
I now have terrible classes, do something to change this system of first come first serve, Terrible, it makes me sick.

what website closes at night??!!??
sometimes you need to find out where your exam is at 4am and it's frustrating when you can't
Sometimes i dont even have a chanxe to look at my computer to do anything until after work at 1 am.
24/7 access is always great!
I say the same thing every year - WHY DOES A WEBSITE HAVE OPERATING HOURS? This is such a nonsensical
point... I've been here 5 years and have yet to understand it. Every other MyUB modification you made is completely
unimportant comparatively...
Everything should be available 24 hours a day!
Any academic tool should be available 24x7, its often easiest to do work between 11-7
These are mostly web based resources, should be open 24 hours a day!
We're in college. We stay up late.
none
Improve registration
BIRD does not work for me; the password they have me use is not correct, though I have never used it let alone
change it.
i never know what my regestration time exactly is
Havinga cutoff time is not a good thing. I would greatly appreciate access to these features at all times.
I need extended hrs for most of these services because I live off campus. A lot of these things close before I get out of
work. I have been very frustrated with trying to get my parking permit and my UB student ID card. I still don't have
either.
Final exam schedule being available is the most important, when someone thinks they have a final at 8am and can't
view it until 7 it could pose a problem
web registration should be 24 hours
I have gone to UB for 4 years, and I had a checkstop which prohibited me from registering for classes. The checkstop
was for not agreeing to something regarding plagiarism, I think thats silly when i registered for fall classes without a
problem.
That's just silly not to have access after hours. What is technology for anyway??
Checking our account balance (billes due, due dates, etc.) should also be made available 24x7
24/7 access is essential
24–7 isn't really necessary. Why not just until 1 AM?
all the above should be available 24/7..please make it available
i don't understand at all why this isn't happening. many of us hold jobs along with going to school and we have to find
time to do this when we're actually home. e.g. after hours. so it is beyond frustrating that we have to take time off
work/scho
What good is 24x7 access to checkstop data if there's no one in an office to help resolve it 24x7?
The more availabilty a person has to access information the easier it is for a person to take care of any problems.
n/a
DARS report should be 24 hours 7 days a week
While I understand the need for updates/backups/etc, it's unreasonable for critical services to be offline for so many
hours every day.
my myub doesnt let me access things after 11pm but i wish it did.
I don't see why these services are limited to hours of operation. There are times in the middle of the night where I
need to check information and can not; it can be annoying.
during class registration days it took an insanely long time to get onto the web regisration when it opened at 7am...i
wasnt able to get on till 9am so it would be so much more convenient if there were extended hours on those kind of
things

Let's face it, most of what student do on the computer happens after 11, which is when the most important features
are unavailable.
We need more student parking. It sucks choosing between going to class and getting a ticket or just not going and
that's how it is sometimes.
Add paying parking tickets to online
This is the only place i've seen where computers need to go to bed and stop working

Arrived to school and find out that it is totally deserted
645-NEWS was not updated properly
called the university
I live in new york city, I could care less, I telecommute
I had to call and ask!
Student on South Campus
Friend
Channel 4 news
parents called me

the campus phone number didn't have thecorrect information - it also was NOT listed on wkbw news or web site
campus road conditions
professor called students
Was informed by librarian to call a phone number, specified above
Someone else told me
It was REALLY messed up...I called the chem department specifically and they were sending the most mixed
messages ever. Plus I asked my friend and he said there were signs saying class resumed at 5pm which made it even
worse...I assumed ub was closed
In the library(when I stayed that night in the library)
Absolutely disgraceful on the part of the University. Pathetic communication.
Not through UB you guys did a crappy job announcing it, try and campus wide email next time
my professor sent out an email
I just assumed
Called a friend that lived on campus and saw the posting on campus cable.

Unooficial email from people at work.
Volunteer work organized thru SA
parents
never showed up didn't find out until sunday
no power so i just figured not to go
I did not find out any way. Everything said that Ub was open so I went and got in trouble for going. UB needs to
advertise better when campus is closed!

i didnt know
Having so many sources is an excellent thing. Don't let anyone tell you it's redudancy is a bad thing, because it makes
sure as many people as possible find out.
family
NO power, only form of commun ication is cell phone!!!!!
Therer should be a better system of notifying students when the University is closed
UB dropped the ball with the snow storm, both phone lines and myub were not updated in enough time for students to
know what was going on.
checked the local news stations websites (campus cable was down)
i had a feeling that school will be closed
645-2000
nieghbor who works in a library
TV station online since we didn't have actual TV
called my mom
Sign on the Bathroom
roommate
students
friend
645-News needs to be updated!!!
Just a horrendous job notifying students and staff. I trudged through the snow to try to teach a class that the
university cancelled without telling ME! And I'm teaching it!
645-2000

645-2222
I actually walked to university.
Was at capen library. Announced by staff there.

mother contacted me on cell phone
I didn't know until I went to campus friday morning.
Posted on bathroom doors.

I work for Res Life so I found out from my superiors.
my UB had no info posted about the closing when I checked it
I was not informed in any way, and the updates phone number said the campus was open.
Posted fliers on community building of on-campus apartment, and I called 645-2000 for double check
It was hard to find out about the cancelling of classes since the information was only posted on TV at the time that it
was announced. I normally don't watch TV in the morning so that notice was missed.
I called my cello teacher. The internet was down and I had no other access tot he information.
I went to the campus to know that. With my experience of Kobe's earth quake, medias do not work in such situations.
645-news sure wasn't helpful
I called information
from stranger who is also ub student
didn't have class.. the main webpage didn't list the closing.
power was out, radio was the only option
had no power...never knew
NEWS said there was school, and in calling the operator, i found out that school was closed.
called the school
Emails from pofessors/TAs
On campus employer.
Cleaning Staff
family
'645-NEWS' at around 7AM still said the camopus was open and classes were scheduled, a friend told me otherwise
friends
Sign on bathroom door
called my parents
It was kind of stupid to post it online, seeing as most people didn't have power so obviously didn't have internet
access!!!
Local News
I went outside and realized there were no cars in the parking lot. The telephone line was wrong.
without electrical power, how do you think email would help?
UB Information Desk
Students comming back to dorms from finding out classes cancelled on signs.

suitemate came in and told me
online news site
I didn't know campus was closed.
Terrible, I checked myub and it said nothing, and I started walking to my classes. It was embarrasing that myub did
not immediately post that school was cancelled on Friday.
didn't have class, but called office where I have an assistanship
didn't find out, expected email or myub or 645news
I didn't find out classes were canceled until Sunday when I used someone elses computer (I had no power) to find out

I assumed it was closed.
Through the away message of a friend on AIM.
I just didn't come to school 'cause the train wasn't working. An there was that whole "Oh, look, there's a HUGE tree in
my front lawn" thing.
I checked MyUB Friday morning and didn't see a notice of cancellation
No one in my Department answered the phone after 9AM.
I didn't!! I went to class
RA's
Couldn't get accurate info from UBs site in time manner -- I leave the house at 6:30 am! Eventually just decided not
to go -- didn't get confirmation from UB until I got through to UBs operator. UB News was still saying classes schedule
on Saturday!
The DJ on NPR said the station had emergency lights on so I ignored the phone message that calimed classes were
open.
showed up to class and no one was there
tv channel websites
only had contact through cell phones
Called into work
I just stayed home and found out later.
645-NEWS was never updated.
My roommate came screaming into the room at 5 in the morning screeching about how there were no classes. Who
has radios in their dorms anymore? You can get it over the internet if you want it. And, of course, our power was out,
so we couldn't do that
my supervisor at the cfa
I had an 8:00 AM class. UB had not yet closed at that time, and I tried to make it. Got stuck, and was informed by the
police not to bother to come. The system completely broke down on 10/14.
