President’s Message
Welcome to the close of another fantastic season for FRC with Brigadoon. We
invite you to laugh and be enthralled in the magic of this, “the other Scottish
play”.
I would like to take this moment to especially thank the backbone of volunteers
that keep our company alive, that being our Board of Directors and their
subcommittees. I know we are all looking forward to continuing to produce
fantastic shows!
A thank you , as always, to the entire production team of Brigadoon, and all their
friends, family and supporters who are here tonight and a special welcome to
any who are here tonight for the first time.
Darren Stewart – President
Rehearsal Space
Front Row Centre is continuing to pursue a new rehearsal space under the
banner Calgary Community Theatre Ltd. (CCTL) with our partners StoryBook
Theatre and Workshop Theatre.
The CCTL, a privately owned non-profit corporation owned evenly by the three
societies, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our current rehearsal
and production space at the Community Arts Centre in the Currie Barracks, in a
management format that will be moved forward to our new space.
We are in the process of establishing our “endgame” plans and anticipate a move
in rehearsal space and offices during or near the end of the 2011-2012 season.
Look forward to more information on this exciting project soon!

Director’s Notes
Well this has been quite the journey! When FRC was
looking for a director for Brigadoon, I think the
conversation may have gone something along the
lines of “Hey! Let’s get that Scottish guy to do it, he’ll
know what it’s all about!” but to be honest, whilst I
grew up hearing the story of Brigadoon and was
familiar with the concept, I had never actually seen
either the 1954 Gene Kelly film or any theatrical
production of it. Like most of you, I knew the basics
of the plot, and a small selection of the music, and
thought it would be a fun project to work on and
return to my roots in the big classic musicals. What I
discovered was a show with something for everyone,
delving in the full expanse of the human experience. Not only do we get to enjoy an
absolutely classic romantic storyline, we also come face to face with jealousy, death, grief,
humour, teenage angst, and even sex (seriously, for 1947, there’s some damned risqué
material in here!) But all that being said, it does remain at heart, a love story. One with a
message that is timeless, and can’t help but leave you with the warmest and fuzziest of
feelings: when you love someone deeply, anything is possible… even miracles.
I can’t imagine having done this show with a different group of people. I’ve strengthened
old friendships, and formed many new ones in the process. Each and every person listed
in the program is 100% responsible for making this the amazing experience that it has
been over the last few months, and that it will be for you all to see tonight.
No one wants this program to be twenty pages long so I won’t thank everyone
individually here, in summary though: Production Team, you were amazing, each and
everyone one of you were inspirational to work with. Cast and Crew, your devotion to
this project has been truly amazing, from hours of hammering out harmonies that seem
completely unnatural, to playing around with the right way to push each other out of the
way without actually breaking someone’s neck, you’ve given it your all and it’s more than
paid off. Remember… silent milling!

Cast Biographies
ALAN WELLER (STUART DALRYMPLE)
Alan is delighted to be performing with such a talented, energetic cast and crew, and
also thrilled to be doing his first show for FRC!
AARON BROSZAT (SANDY DEAN)
Aaron has sung in various choirs for the past six years and is currently a Baritone in the
West Winds Choral Ensemble. He has previously been involved with FRC in a
production of Hello Dolly. He will also be attending classes at U of L in the fall.
BRYAN WEIR (ENSEMBLE)
In his day life, Bryan is an Engineering Technician. He has played roles such as,
Lysander in Midsummer Night's Dream, Gremio in Taming of the Shrew, Howie Newsome
in Our Town, and a female belly dancer in Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. In his free time,
he is training to be a ninja.
BRYCE CHRISTIANSON (ENSEMBLE)
Bryce is a Volunteer facilitator (in training) at Mosaic Youth. He has enjoyed singing
and videogames almost all of his life. Bryce also enjoys trashy music and has never
been stuck in traffic. He hopes to go on to take psychology in university. This is his first
show with FRC.
CHARLOTTE LOEPPKY (AGNES BEATON)
Thoroughly enchanted by Brigadoon, Charlotte has also lived in New York in Guys and Dolls
(Windmill), Paris with Les Misérables (StoryBook), Godspell's beautiful city (FRC), Deadwood
in Crazy for You (Windmill), G+S's idyllic Patience (Morpheus) and recently escaped from
Sherwood Forest after directing The Adventures of Robin Hood.
CHELSEA MILLARD (MEG BROCKIE)
Chelsea is absolutely elated about being in Brigadoon! It has been almost a full three years
since she has been in a musical, and boy did she miss it! You may have seen her previously
kicking butt in Scorpio Theatre's Cry Havoc 2, or behind the scenes working on costumes!
Thanks for coming out, and enjoy the show!!
DANA STOUTENBURG (FIONA MACLAREN)
Dana is happy to be back on the FRC stage. She was most recently in Knox Centre Theatre
Collective’s Back Against the Wall and Morpheus Theatre’s The Mikado. Dana graduated from
Capilano University’s Performance Arts program and Randolph Academy for the Performing
Arts’ Triple Threat program in Toronto.

Cast Biographies
DAYNA-LYNN DYMIANIW (JEAN MACLAREN)
Dayna-Lynn was a member of The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede and a principal in
Calgary Opera’s performance of The Ballad of Baby Doe. In September, she is attending
Graduate school in Vancouver. Dayna-Lynn would like to thank her family and Cameron for
their support.
DANIELLE DESMARAIS (MAGGIE)
Danielle hails from Calgary, and is delighted to be in her second show for FRC. She has
always enjoyed a good caber toss and bagpipe romp, so when asked to be in Brigadoon
she quickly popped on her tam o'shanter and dove deep into the world of highland
dancing. Danielle would like to thank her Mom and Dad for putting her in ballet, and
Jamie for being her William Wallace. Huchai!
DARREN STEWART (CHARLIE DALRYMPLE)
Darren is back on stage and trying not to embarrass his Scottish heritage. This is now
his 7th stint on stage with FRC, 11th overall, and he really had nothing witty to add at
this point.
DAVID YOUNG (MACGREGOR)
Och aye, ye ken, David is thrilled to be using his native tongue in his 4th FRC
production, along with so many talented cast and crew. He was recently seen dying
spectacularly in Hamlet II with Gas and Light.
Ye all hae a guid time the noo!
DEREK ROSS (ANDREW MACLAREN)
Derek is generally in the audience for FRC shows but has joined the cast for a
change. While living in Scotland, he appeared in shows set in North America such as
Calamity Jane, Guys and Dolls, and the Pajama Game. Now that he is living in North
America, it only seems appropriate to appear in a show set in Scotland.
EMILY DALLAS (KATE)
Emily is very excited to be a part of Brigadoon, and is enjoying her first ever show with
FRC! She has had a love of the theatre from a very young age, and is looking forward
to pursuing a career in the theatre industry. Much love to Mom, Dad, and Ruffiss!
EVELYN LONG (ENSEMBLE)
Evelyn is a fifteen year old thespian who enjoys dancing like no one is watching when
people are CLEARLY watching and words like "thespian". This is her first play with
FRC and she is excited to be able to dance, act and sing, hopefully at the same time.

Cast Biographies
GINETTE SIMONOT (JANE ASHTON/ENSEMBLE)
At last, the stars have aligned and Ginette is proud to be part of her very first FRC
production! A special thanks to all my friends who have encouraged me to keep at this
“performance stuff”, and to this dear team who have put up with all my quirky
moments.
GRAHAM PHILLIPS (HARRY BEATON)
Graham gets to wear a kilt. That's all he really wants from life. Graham has been a part
of community theatre for the past few years, with StoryBook and FRC. Recently as
Thénardier in Les Misérables with StoryBook Theatre, and less recently in Hello Dolly,
with FRC. Thanks for coming.
HEATHER SMUDA (ENSEMBLE)
Heather is on stage for the third time this season, and has yet to use her own accent! She
was seen previously as Audrey in Farndale Murder Mystery, and as Eliza in My Fair Lady.
Selected credits include Sound of Music (Mother Abbess), Godspell (Robin), and Our Town
(Mrs. Webb).
JANE TETLEY (MRS. LUNDIE)
Jane is excited to take part in such a wonderful show. Jane has been performing
musically in Alberta for a wide variety of audiences since 1975 and now her
granddaughters have inspired her to join the talented ranks of Calgary’s exciting
Theatre Community. She is looking forward to her “non-singing” role - a new
adventure – and performing with such talented cast members and crew. Music is in her
soul and the songs in her heart.
JANOS ZELLER (TOMMY ALBRIGHT, PRODUCER)
Serving as FRC’s current Vice-President, Janos has been involved with several of their other
shows, including: My Fair Lady, Pippin, Leader of the Pack, Chicago, Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof,
Sweeney Todd, Hello Dolly, Nunsense and made his directorial debut with The Producers in
January. He’s also an ensemble member of The Shakespeare Company and was last seen in
Richard III.
JASON GOETHALS (ANGUS MACGUFFIE)
This is Jaso’s second show with FRC; you may have previously seen him in Man of La
Mancha.

Cast Biographies
JILL HOWELL-FELLOWS (ENSEMBLE)
Jill saw her first live musical, Brigadoon, at age five. She has been hooked ever since. In recent
years she has played roles at Hillhurst United Church, including in Joseph (narrator,) Sound of
Music (Baroness,) and Seussical (Gertrude.) She is pleased to be part of this fun and talented
FRC cast.
JENNA KELLAS (ENSEMBLE)
Jenna has played piano since the age of 4, and also plays the French Horn and the Guitar. In
November, Jenna played the role of Maria in the New Opera Society’s production of The
Sound of Music and joined all women’s chorus Vocal Motion. This is her second role in musical
theatre as part of the Brigadoon ensemble.
KEITH KOLLEE (JEFF DOUGLAS)
Once upon a time, Keith was a part of the Calgary theatre community. Then, for reasons
that seem ridiculous in hindsight, he disappeared for 10 years. He returned with
Scorpio Theatre’s Cry Havoc 2. This is his first production with FRC and is thrilled that
they have welcomed him into the family.
KYLE DEWSNAP (ENSEMBLE)
Kyle is very excited for Brigadoon! He is a 12 year old boy whose recent productions
include Seussical the Musical with Alberta Theatre Projects. He plays tennis and guitar,
and he would like to thank Lynne Roberts, for being an excellent accompanist and
Mom, Mallory Minerson for the amazing acting lessons, Cheryl Burke for vocal
coaching, the wonderful faculty at StoryBook Theatre and his supportive teachers and
principal at École Madeleine d'Houet. Hope you enjoy the show!
LINDA DELANEY (ENSEMBLE)
Linda is pleased to be part of bringing Brigadoon to life here in Calgary. Previous work with
Front Row Centre includes Hello Dolly, Nine and Music Man. Elsewhere Linda was most
recently seen as Rebecca Nurse in Playhouse North’s production of The Crucible.
MALINA JENSEN (ENSEMBLE)
Malina only appears on-stage once every hundred years and by sheer coincidence this
appearance has happened at the same time as FRC's production of Brigadoon. She has
enjoyed her time working with everyone and will be sad when Brigadoon disappears
into the Highland mist at the end of the run.
ROBERT KELLAS (FRANK/ENSEMBLE)
Robert is new to the world of musical theatre and is thrilled to have the opportunity to be a
part of Front Row Centre’s production of Brigadoon. Robert joined the cast as part of the
ensemble and is also playing the role of Frank the bartender.

Cast Biographies
RYAN PATTERSON (ENSEMBLE)
After spinning a huge stage for Hello Dolly! last season, Ryan has joined FRC once again, this
time as part of the fully-fledged chorus, and a proud Anderson family member. Ryan was
last seen in The Crucible (only if you didn’t blink!) and in Ali Baba as Dame Fatima Kebab.
SARAH ORD (ENSEMBLE)
Sarah is loving her time in Brigadoon! This is her second show with Front Row Centre,
but she has been involved in theatre since she was six. She thanks her family, friends,
her lovely director Jamie, her talented and hilarious cast, and, of course, the backstage
crew! Welcome to Brigadoon!
Orchestra Biographies
WILMA ROTHBAUER (PIANO & MUSICAL DIRECTOR)
Wilma is thrilled to be a part of Brigadoon. What a terrific cast and crew!! Thanks so
much to Jamie and Andrea for all their patience. And thanks to my husband for all his
love and support.
RICHARD WORTON (TRUMPET)
This will be Richard’s fourth production with FRC and he is excited to work with all the
wonderful musicians in the band. When not performing with FRC, Richard plays with
the Calgary Concert Band and the Maple Leaf Brass.
KEN SYMES (TRUMPET)
This is Ken’s third show with FRC; you may have also heard him in The Producers and
Sweeney Todd.
DON MILNE (VIOLIN)
Don had a classical start to playing music, then University made him decide on
Accounting! Now he is “Inspired” and doing music, whether it is Classical, Folk, Old
Time Fiddle, Bluegrass, Celtic or Jazz. This is Don’s second musical and he is trying to
keep up with Wilma!

Orchestra Biographies

Calgary Wind Ensemble and Alberta Winds. He has played in the last 5 Front Row
Centre Players productions including Sweeney Todd, Nunsense and The Producers.
KENDRA HAMILTON (FRENCH HORN)
Brigadoon is Kendra’s second production with FRC and fifth musical. Outside of
musical theatre she plays the French Horn with Metropolitan Winds. Kendra is looking
forward to being part of this production.
ROB EBERHARDT (TROMBONE)
Rob has been involved in many shows, including 5 other shows for FRC.
JANIFFER RIOS (BASS GUITAR)
Recently making her mark in the Calgary music world, Janiffer is a member of the
Calgary Civic Symphony and Calgary Concert Band.
Janiffer continues to move
forward in what she loves as she also joins the Metropolitan Wind Ensemble and
prepares for the Calgary Concert Band European Tour 2011.
KATHY MA (PERCUSSION)
This will be Kathy’s third FRC show this year. Having done Chess and The Producers
back to back, she is ready to hit the drums again. Anything with Wilma on the piano
really makes the show and we have another fantastic cast and crew.
ROBYN PHILLIPS (BASSOON)
This is Robyn’s second time playing for FRC; she also played for Sweeney Todd in 2009.
ROBIN ROBERTSON (BAGPIPES)
This is Robin’s first show with FRC.

ALAN JAY LERNER (BOOK AND LYRICS)
Alan Jay Lerner was a Broadway lyricist and librettist. The son of a wealthy dress chain
store owner (the Lerner Shops), he was educated at Choate Rosemary Hall and Harvard; one
of his school chums was John F. Kennedy. Lerner wrote for the Harvard annual musicals,
and produced radio scripts after college. He is best known for his partnership with Frank
Lowe, which produced shows such as My Fair Lady and Camelot.
BIO EXTRACTED FROM MTISHOWS.COM
FREDERICK LOEWE (COMPOSER)
Frederick Loewe (or Fritz) grew up in Berlin with Viennese parents. He learned to play
piano by ear before he was seven and would help his father rehearse for the musicals
he was working on. Fritz’s first collaboration with Alan Jay Lerner was a 1942 musical
adaptation of the farce The Patsy, called The Life of the Party. Their first hit was
Brigadoon. Fritz won three Tony Awards, all in collaboration with Alan Jay Lerner.
BIO EXTRACTED FROM IMDB.COM AND FREDERICKLOEWE.ORG
ALEX LYALL (ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER)
This is Alex's fourth show with FRC. She is so happy to be surrounded by Scottish.
Thank you Jamie for making things wonderful and to Allana for keeping things
together. You are awesome Darren and it was fun doing a show together (finally).
ALLANA CHATTERTON (STAGE MANAGER)
Allana is very excited to be wrapping up an amazing season by stage
managing Brigadoon. She started as running crew on Chess, then ran the light board for
The Producers and is grateful for this latest opportunity. She's met some hilarious, fun
and wonderful people and made some very real friends. Enjoy the show - see you in
the fall!
ANDREA GLEASON (CHOREOGRAPHER)
Andrea Gleason has been dancing since she was a wee girl of 4. Currently she is a
member of the Emerald Fire Irish Dance Troupe, who will be seen next at the
Edmonton Celtic Festival. She hopes everyone enjoys the magic of Brigadoon, and a
big thank you to the cast for their hard work and dedication!
ANTHONY NEARY (LIGHTING DESIGN)
A theatre technician by vocation, Anthony is the Head Electrician for Theatre Junction
GRAND in Calgary. This is his first show with FRC and he would like to thank them
for giving him the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and talented group and
looks forward to working with them in the future.
BRIAN THOMAS (SET DRESSING, SCENERY PAINTING)
This is Brian’s second show as a set dresser; you may have also seen his work on Hello
Dolly! last year
The Crew Biographies
CYNTHIA ANDERSON (CO-PRODUCER, SCENIC DESIGN, SCENERY PAINTING)
This is Cynthia’s second co-producing gig this year. It’s been a busy year learning the
“behind the scenes” magic of the theatre. Cynthia has been seen on stage in FRC’s
Fiddler on the Roof (2009) and Nunsense (2010). Thanks to Jamie, Allana and especially
Janos for your guidance and patience. Thanks also to my family and friends for your
understanding and love. Lang mae ur lum reek!
DAWHLIA MARTIN-CHATTERTON (HAIR AND MAKE UP)
Dawhlia started doing theatre makeup 13 years ago in Ontario. This is the first
production she has been involved with in Calgary, and with the FRC. She is happy to
be collaborating with her sister Allana (stage manager), and cares for Scottish accents a
great deal.
HARLAN STERNER (SET CONSTRUCTION, SET DESIGN)
Harlan has been helping out Calgary theatre groups with set construction and setup
for the last two seasons. He's been doing woodworking and construction as a hobby
for many years and finds the variety of items required to be built for the stage an
interesting challenge.
IRENE HOWELL (COSTUME ASSISTANT)
Irene has always loved to sew. She made clothes for her four children when they were
growing up and has also made many quilts and wall hangings. Irene enjoyed making
costumes for FRC's production of Chess, and now for Brigadoon. Brigadoon was the first
play Irene saw on stage at the Grand Theatre in Calgary, which makes working behind
the scenes on this play such a personal experience.
JAMIE EASTGAARD-ROSS (DIRECTOR)
Jamie is incredibly excited to be directing his first show for FRC. Previous credits include
Lost Time, Supervillain, and Tick, Tick…Boom! (Scorpio), as well as many years of performing
in musical theatre in Scotland. Thanks to Steve, Mum & Dad, and Allana for being amazing
sounding boards and keepers of the (in)sanity!!! Trish, you’ve been replaced, but are still
loved!
JOY HODGSON (LIGHTING BOARD OPERATOR)
Joy is happy to be working with FRC again this season, bringing light to Brigadoon
after stage managing Chess. The magic of this production would not be possible
without the amazing cast, crew, and production team, so thank you to all of you for
bringing this magical town to life. Break legs!
LEAH WINTER (ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER, PROPS AND RUNNING CREW)
This is Leah's third show with FRC and she is very pleased to be working with them
again. It has been a great challenge and a lot of fun to recreate a 1742 Scottish village
and she hopes you like it! Thank you to everyone that lent items, advice, and their
help!

The Crew Biographies
MEG ANDERSON (SOUND OPERATOR AND RUNNING CREW)
Meg is pleased to return to theatre with Brigadoon and FRC.
RHONDA PERRY (COSTUME DESIGN)
Rhonda enjoyed examining her Scottish heritage whilst designing costumes for a
favourite childhood story – Brigadoon. In her 2nd production with FRC, Rhonda
presents a truly Canadian representation by using Canadian Province tartans closely
matching to the original clans. She appreciates such a professional and talented team,
cast, and dedicated group of seamstresses, and hopes you enjoy this magical
production!
RUSSELL ROKOS (RUNNING CREW)
After a very long hiatus from the world of theatre, Russell has found his way back
through the forests surrounding Brigadoon.
STEVEN EASTGAARD-ROSS (SOUND DESIGN)
Steven has been active in theatre for over a decade as an actor, director, stage manager,
operator and technician. Some of his previous sound experience includes assistant
house technician for Jubilations Dinner Theatre, Wedding Singer and Rent for
