Things to consider when choosing a fan
Recollections range of ceiling fans includes contemporary and period designs in a variety of colours and finishes to suit every interior.
A lifestyle essential all year round, ceiling fans are equally effective at cooling in Summer months, or to help circulate warm air in Winter months.
ROD LENGTH
As a general rule, the greater the space between the ceiling and the fan blades, the
greater performance of air circulation and distribution of air.
AS/NZ Building Code requires that the blades of a ceiling fan are at least 2100mm
above the floor. With higher ceilings, the positioning of the fan is usually set at an
aesthetically pleasing distance, while still ensuring that the blades remain 2100mm
from the floor.
BLADE LENGTH
Our range of ceiling fans have blade sizes ranging from 44” to 70”. In most
applications, a 44” to 48” blade size is most appropriate.
Larger blade sizes are available for larger rooms, or alternatively, two smaller-blade
fans can be used.
BLADE QUANTITY
The differences in performance between a 3, 4 or 5 blade fan are very minimal.
The main deciding factor when a number of blades is purely aesthetical.
ENVIRONMENT
The range of fans is suitable for indoor usage, and semi-outdoor usage (for example,
in a covered pergola area) when the area is fully protected from wind & water.
QUIET OPERATION
To some degree, all fans will create noise, and a common concern in budget model
fans is the noise they produce. Our range of fans have quality motors, bearings and
blades to reduce noise.
FAN MOVEMENT
The fundamental reason behind wobbling fans is either a poor, unbalanced fan rotor,
or blades that have not been balanced. All of our fans have a factory balanced rotor,
and come with a balanced blade set and instructions for installation.
MOTOR SIZE
The motors used in the range come in two sizes. The smaller 153mm motor is used in
the Newport, Bateau Bay and Sandridge models. The larger 188mm motor is used in
the larger models: Palm Cove, Byron, Nelson and Sorrento.
REMOTE CONTROL OPTIONS
The Endeavour range of fans all come complete with a wall switch, and remote kits are
available as an optional extra. Remote kits come complete with a light switch, which is
handy if a light is being used. The Madiera, Clarida and Lustro fans come with remote
kits included.
LIGHTING OPTIONS
Our Sandridge, Newport, Madiera, Clarida, Lustro and Bateau Bay fans come
complete with an enclosed light. This light has a maximum usage of 40watt, and a
low energy globe is recommended to improve lighting output.
There are two optional light kits available for the Palm Cove fans – either a 4 ¼’’
gallery, which can suit a variety of shades such as schoolhouse; or a warehouse
shade kit.
The warehouse shade light kit option is also available for the Nelson and Byron fans.
Sorrento fans also have a light kit available as an optional extra.
