Welcome to PREMIER!
There are millions of healthy purebred dogs in America with wonderful temperaments and
excellent breed instincts. At the United Kennel Club, we want to keep that tradition alive and encourage
breeders to produce dogs that look and act the part. To achieve that goal, the UKC PREMIER features
our Total Dog Competition. Total Dog is a different approach to dog shows; it’s the UKC way. To
qualify for Total Dog, dogs must have a conformation win and qualify in one or more of the PREMIER’s
performance events. The performance events are a great way to test and showcase the temperament,
health, and athleticism of our canine friends. As we like to say, Our Dogs Do Stuff!
The participation in the UKC Total Dog competition grows every year. In 2009, the overall quality
was so impressive that on the spur of the moment (the beauty of UKC flexibility!), we decided to
have a Total Dog Best In Show competition for all the qualifiers. Last year, an astounding 206 UKC
Total Dogs proudly represented 79 different breeds in multiple events. The response has been so
positive that we presented the UKC Total Dog Group Competitions; as well as the UKC Total Dog
Best In Show! This year, that tradition continues.
As enjoyable as Total Dog is for spectators and exhibitors, it was created to do much more. Active
dogs with active people encourage the human-canine bond. Well-trained dogs are better diplomats
for their breed and become lifelong members of their family and community. Total Dog reminds us of
the great things purebred dogs can do. Most important to me, however, is that striving for Total Dog
encourages breeders to keep health and temperament the first priority and to avoid conformation
extremes that are deleterious to a breed’s overall well-being. By selecting breeding stock for the
qualities that make a Total Dog, we are creating healthier, happier, better adjusted dogs for everyone.
We at the UKC never want to be the registry of just another pretty face. We are the Total Dog Registry.

2012 TOP TEN FINALS COMPETITION

The Top Ten dogs in each breed were invited to complete in this year’s Top Ten Invitational, based on the points earned at UKC Licensed shows during 2012. There are
426 dogs entered in this competition, representing 136 breeds. Judges’ names for the Semi-Final and Final rounds will not be disclosed prior to judging. Armbands are
mailed with the Judging Program and are the same armbands used for PREMIER and All Stars. Winners of each round MUST keep their armband to compete in the next
round. These armbands will not be used for competition in any Specialty Shows. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to have their dog ringside at the time of judging. The
Judge will not wait for your presence.

GENERAL BUILDING AND PARKING INFORMATION
1. Building and Grounds will be open to exhibitors at 3 p.m. on Tuesday June 11, 2013. Overnight security is not provided. All Times Are Eastern Daylight
Savings Time.
2. Building and Grounds will be open to exhibitors at 7 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
3. Please follow the directions of the parking attendants to facilitate an orderly traffic flow through the unloading areas and in the parking areas. Vehicles are allowed a 15-minute unloading time-frame. Violators will be towed.
4. Limited Conformation crating in Expo North Room A and Room B. Limited Rally and Obedience crating will be in Expo South (formerly Hazel Gray building),
and crating for Agility will be outside under tent provided by facility.
5. Grooming space is on a first come, first served basis. Empty grooming space may not be saved.
6. No rugs or ground cover mats are allowed on the floor.
7. No exercise pens inside any building. There is ample room for private ex-pens outside.
8. Exhibitors will be required to stack their crates when crating in any buildings.
9. Dogs may not be left unattended when crated in soft mesh crates or on a grooming table. No dog may be left in an unlatched or un-zippered crate or on a
grooming table.
10. Dogs must not be left in the buildings overnight. All dogs must be out of the buildings by 10 p.m.
11. No dogs or pets of any kind in restrooms or showers.
12. NO powdering allowed.
13. For conformation, small ringside tables and crates are only allowed at ringside during the judging of a single breed. The Event Committee may order these
tables and crates to be removed at its discretion. Please do not abuse this privilege.
14. There will be absolutely NO SMOKING in all Buildings and designated areas.
15. Admission Fee. Admission - $5 per car per day or $10 per car for a weekend pass (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) An admission pass for exhibitors will be included in the
Judging Program.
16. No cones or other means to be used to save parking spaces in or about the parking lot or campgrounds.
17. Overnight parking for R.V.’s and camping registration available by contacting the Kalamazoo County Expo Center & Fairgrounds at 269-383-8778.
Golf carts (rented or private), motorized scooters and mopeds must carry proof of insurance at all times.
All drivers must be of an age to have a state issued driver's license.
