Libra+ Wirefree Chimes

Launched in 2006, Libra+ continues to be the consumer’s choice for
both style and functionality. The range, which features functions such as
alert identification icons, volume control and Friedland’s secure 868MHz
frequency, now sees the additions of three new products to the range
making it part of the larger Friedland chimes, security and home
automation offering. See Page 8 for details of the new Libra+ products.

Friedland Mini Alarm is a range of individual components which can be used together or singularly. The range

Spectra Wirefree 868 MHz
Our Wirefree Spectra range provides an easy to install detection solution.
We have now upgraded our Spectra Wirefree range to operate on 868 MHz. This means the products now benefit from
a less crowded frequency so they are less prone to interference from other wirefree devices and the higher antenna
output provides a stronger transmission enhancing the performance and range between PIR & receiver.
Operating on the 868 MHz frequency also means that Spectra Wirefree is now compatible with and may be integrated
with Libra+ chime systems (see page 8 for Libra+ PIR & chime kit)
The Spectra 868 MHz range is even easier to set up and install as they are already pre-programmed to each other.
• Once installed, when the PIR detector senses the movement of heat sources, it sends a signal to the receiver unit, which
automatically activates the lighting connected to it
• The wirefree detector can be positioned exactly where needed for optimum detection, or in places difficult to reach with
cables. It can also be placed up to 200m* away from the receiver unit
• Ideal for use in driveways, courtyards, gardens, outbuildings, perimeter fences and detached garages
• An unlimited number of PIR’s can be added to the system

The Response Wirefree Alarm Systems offer internal space protection by
monitoring entry points and the interior of the property. To attain
maximum coverage, and to prevent false alarms there are a number of
rules to follow when installing detectors.

PIR detectors may be wall or corner mounted by applying different knockouts.
Do not install where the detector is in
or facing direct/reflected sunlight or
strong draughts/heaters)
Locate the detector at least one metre
away from any illumination, to avoid
possible interference
Mount in the corner of a room.
PIR detectors are more sensitive to
motion passing across the detection
zones than toward the unit
Ensure that there are not any
obstructions (plants, screens, furniture
etc.) in the field of view which may
cause incorrect cover/operation of
the detector
Avoid locating the detector in areas
which contain equipment that may
change the environment temperature
rapidly. For example: above radiators
Install the detector at the recommended
height on a rigid, even surface

Useful Information – Wirefree Chimes and Pushes
• Please note that the positioning of Wirefree Bell Push or Door Chime on or near metal structures, reinforced PVC doors
or door frames may reduce the transmission range
• To ensure weatherproofing is maintained, always mount Bell Pushes the correct way up, as shown in the product
instructions or on the packaging. Then replace the front cover securely
• Please note that Evo, Decor and Visiocam are all compatible and Libra+ will not communicate with these products
Useful Information – Wired Chimes and Pushes
• Wired-in Chimes should be mounted vertically on a wall, ideally at 2 metres high, for best sound coverage
• When battery-operated, wired-in Chimes and Bells can be mounted up to a maximum of 15 metres from the push, using
standard Friedland bell wire
• When transformer operated, wired-in Chimes and Bells can be mounted up to 60 metres from the Push, using standard
Friedland bell wire
• D902/D973 Bell In One can be mounted up to a maximum of 9 metres from the push
• The use of wire not intended for Door Chimes / Bells (e.g. telephone wire) may affect Chime / Bell performance
• Do not mount wired-in Chimes on the back of a door, as the chime bars or batteries may dislodge if the door is slammed
• All terminal screws should be tightened down, including those which are not being used
• All wired-in Chimes can operate from either batteries or a suitable transformer
• Additional Chimes can be wired to the original Chime, to provide better sound coverage – an additional or alternative
transformer may also be required
• Lit Pushes require the use of a transformer
• An extra slave light can be wired to a Spectra PIR Product, providing the maximum load is not exceeded. Wire the slave
to N + L1 terminals
• Mini Wired chimes cannot be wired in parallel
