PRESS RELEASE
CHAOS Headwear speaks to 2014 trends in knits in headwear and the
New introduction of a full LUX Collection
Steamboat Springs, Colo. December 2013. This is what you can look forward to for the coming year of 2014/2015.
Chaos brings you four main category trends and a new launch of LUX! In each trend you will see these key
components.
Trend 1, for women we call “Transglobal Folklore.” This movement is filled with
sentimental floral, rich patterning and ethnic overtones. This concentration in design
includes deep saturated colors of reds, tans, blues, browns and gold’s similar to
carpets and tribal tapestries.
The men’s focus in this category include,
folklore with a masculine execution of
oriental influences and Euro-Asian brocades.
Geometric designs with saturated colors are
important, in rich deep intense colors in
greens, moss, plum ports and deep saturated
tones.
Themes include: fair isles, geometry, and a hand-made feeling that is home spun with
haphazard purposeful irregularities; a kind of Nomad folklore in the theme.
Trend 2 we call “Soundless Quietude.” This trend emphasizes a romantic use
of pastels, nature, soft neutral and quiet tones in clean themes and
silhouettes. Designs are reminiscent of the expressionist era with floral and
soft muted tones in texture, weaves, crystals and soft contrasts.
Weights are lighter for men with urban neutrals in colors of cement, putty,
creams, integrating textural lifts, ripples, angles, and threads in marls and
tweeds. The trend is tranquil and sophisticated for both genders.
Trend 3 is the “Streets of Color.” This includes a plethora of bold and zany stripes for both
genders! Lively and energetic is the theme in this trend - the bolder the better.
Trending is retro bright colors with happy neon stripes, confetti speckles with a splash of
color and 3D textures. For men in active sport this includes bold color blocking, bold varied
stripes, rich and bright colors and updated pallets in yellow, teals, blacks and oranges.
Trend 4 is the “Nomad Warrior.” This translates to texture in
tones- tone on tone. Think marble, stones, castle walls, armor,
wet stones, rough walls and natural furs in real and faux. Monotones are rich in texture and contrasts, like a vintage
motorcycle.
Colors reflected are browns, greys, pewters, steel, rose, subtle
moss. The base colors are simple and clean with varied texture
of sophisticated knits and complicated layers of patterning.
The, “Nomad Warrior”- is texture and layering, with dusty
metals and murky mink and dewy creams.Think of antique brass,
pewter, stone and port plum, worn leathers - vintage
motorcycle.
