Amateur Spotlight
Danielle Bannerman
Danielle has always been around horses. Growing up
her Uncle had horses and she spent many summers at
horse camp, but did not get her own horse until she was
thirteen! Danielle started out watching her sister show her
horse Six Pines Joe. Danielle’s own competitive side took
over and she fell in love with horses, the clothes and the
idea of performing. She started showing walk/jog
that same year!
Dannelle currently shows her horse Principle In Cash (aka Biscuit) mainly in Novice Amateur Western
Pleasure and Horsemanship. She is looking forward to adding Hunter Under Saddle, Equitation and
Showmanship to her list of classes during 2013. Danielle says her favorite classes are the pattern classes. She
particularly likes horsemanship. She likes the challenge of something new. She feels a great sense of
accomplishment when a pattern comes together and it feels like you made it look easy!
Danielle’s proudest accomplishment happened while showing at Summerama in 2011. She and Biscuit won
first place under both judges in the Novice Amateur Horsemanship. Both were fairly new to the Quarter Horse
circuit so it felt great to be connected with her horse not let her nerves get to her and allow her to throw out a
fantastic pattern! Danielle is also very proud of how much improvement she and Biscuit have made in their
English events; they have even started working over fences together.
Danielle plans to keep gaining experience and improve consistency during 2013 and of course have fun!
Outside of horses Danielle lives a very busy life, playing recreational soccer and volleyball. She also loves
to read and carries a sudoko(or suDORKu as her sister says) book in her purse at all times.
Area 2 would like to wish Dannelle the best of luck in all of her future endeavors.
Youth Spotlight
Maisyn Picard
Maisyn began taking
riding lessons at four years
of age. Her mom Patti had always been involved with horses and encouraged Maisyn and her sister to become
involved with them as well. Maisyn’s first riding Coach instructed her encouraged her to star showing Saddle
Club and that was just the beginning! After showing at the saddle club level for a few years Maisyn’s parents
bought her a more competitive horse and she moved forward with new coaches to breed shows.
Maisyn enjoys showing in Hunter Under Saddle the most but is looking forward to learning more western skills
and possibly showing Western Pleasure and Horsemanship in the near future. She also shows in Halter and
Equitation classes.
Maisyn and her horse Now Thats Hot had a fantastic show season in 2012. Her proudest accomplishment was
finishing 11th in the Novice Youth Hunter Under Saddle at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. She was
also 9th in the NSBA portion of the class. This was an amazing accomplishment as this was only Maisyn’s first
Congress! Now Thats Hot was 4th in the Novice Youth Mares at the Novice Championship show in Tennessee
this summer. Maisyn was also very excited to have received the Hi-Point Novice Youth Under Saddle Award
from the Ontario Quarter Horse Association. She and Now Thats Hot also claimed Hi-Point Novice Youth
Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation awards from Area 2, as well as the Hi-Point Open Junior Hunter Under
Saddle award.
Maisyn is looking forward to another successful year in 2013. She will be moving up into the Youth 14-18
division for Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation. She plans to continue to do her best and show with success!
Maisyn has been accepted into Western University this fall for Medical Science. She is looking forward to
showing her horse as much as possible this summer and hopes to balance school with riding. Maisyn also
enjoys skiing and spending time with friends when not busy with her horse.

AREA 2 BOUNDARIES
From the eastern boundary of Area 1 which is Hwy 4 from Lake Erie north to Hwy 8 northwest
along Hwy 8 to Lake Huron, excluding the City of London. Hwy #6 from the north boundary of
Owen Sound and south to Lake Ontario. All addresses west and southeast of Highway #6 will be
considered to be in Area 2. The Queen Elizabeth Way south of Hamilton and easterly
encompassing the Niagara Peninsula. The city of Guelph and all addresses therein shall be included in Area 2.
