The History of North Flying
Everything great starts out small
One small plane on a grass runway in
­Western Jutland was the start of Nordfly in
1963. 7 years later the company took over
Aal­borg Flying Center, moved to Aalborg
and changed its name to North Flying.
The backbone of North Flying A/S today is
a modern fleet, numbering 7 Jets and 3
Metroliners. Each member of the fleet is a
specialized machine, designated for its individual tasks.
In 1994 North Flying merged with Nordic
Air and became the largest General Aviation
company in Denmark. By taking over Aalborg
Airtaxi in 1996 and Falck Air in 1998, Scandinavia’s largest airtaxi company was formed.
North Flying is managed, run by and cared
by its dedicated, highly motivated staff at
Aalborg and Kastrup Airports. From the pilots to service specialists and administration,
each person is part of the common mission:

Charter
North Flying’s charter flights offer the perfect
solution for groups travelling to conferences,
trade fairs, visiting customers or suppliers

with North Flying
The best way to get rid of temptation is to give in to it. A
growing number of business travellers consider Business
VIP flights a tempting alternative to ordinary scheduled
flights – so why not give in to the temptation and treat
yourself to a completely different flying experience?
We let ourselves be inspired and decided
to try North Flying, a leading Scandinavian
provider of business VIP flights. North Flying’s business jet will take the customers
straight to their chosen destination in any
part of the world. To customers with particular requirements on flexibility, timing,
and comfort, business VIP flights are often
the preferred solution.
The trip is booked via North Flying’s sales
and operations department, which takes
care of everything in relation to the flight,
including transportation, hotel accommodation, etc.
We are going to Amsterdam, where three
of our company’s key staff members are
required to attend a business meeting. The
flights
trip begins at Copenhagen Airport where
we go straight to a special VIP check-in
counter, fast-tracking the usual queues.
After check-in, we can relax in a special VIP
lounge with all amenities, including Internet access and refreshments like coffee, tea,
wine, beer, or drinks. The usual travel stress,
which normally sets in at the outset of a
journey, has already now settled to a more
comfortable level, as we begin to sense
what VIP flying is all about.
When the agreed time of departure draws
close, we are escorted through the airport
and all the way to our private jet by North
Flying’s ground staff. Here, the captain and
his crew welcome us on board, take care of
our luggage and show us to our seats in the
business jet. After this pleasant reception,
the crew go through the many exclusive

and delightful facilities available on board
“your private jet plane”. This includes adjusting the magnificent leather seats – pure
armchair comfort, where the back and
seat offer a lovely sense of relaxation – and
setting the audiovisual appliances to our
individual needs. The cabin has a lavishly
luxurious interior with leather padding and
palisander closets and tables.
Together with the captain, we have
reviewed today’s flight and time schedule
and are now ready for take-off, waiting
comfortably in our seats. After a short climb,
we are served a delicious lunch – naturally
the VIP catering on board is up to gourmet
standards. Not only is the lunch over and
above the usual flight standards, we are
also presented with a Wine and Bar list
on which we can choose from the plane’s
selection of exclusive wines.
The flight to Amsterdam is an effortless, elegant sweep without a hint of stress – after
all, comfort is king here. We have managed

to avoid the usual “stressed out bunch” – on
the ground as well as in the air. Instead, we
have relaxed in the comfort of our seats,
read the newspaper, enjoyed the delicious
food and prepared for our meeting. In other
words, just what we needed to arrive at our
meeting, well-rested and in a good and
orderly fashion.
At the destination airport, we are again
escorted by special handling agent for
private flights who are, of course, ready to
assist us with any required further transportation. We arrive at our meeting, well-rested
and looking forward to the promise of an
equally pleasant flight home.
After the end of the meeting, we simply call
the captain on his mobile phone an hour
before the desired departure time for our
flight home. This is a truly amazing flexibility
to have when you are away on a business
trip, and we were able to plan our activities
without being tied to a fixed schedule in
order to catch a plane.
The flight back to Copenhagen was characterised by the exact same high level of
service and punctuality.
Overall, this was quite a unique flying and
service experience – over and above any
1st class flight. The comfort on board is of a
very high class, as is the catering, and each
passenger is thoroughly pampered. The
flexibility is in a class of its own – “borderless” in every sense of the word. If needed,
the business jet can also land at smaller
airports closer to your activity venue. These
do not accommodate ordinary commercial airplanes, which will therefore require
additional transportation. We did not need
it this time, but we will certainly keep it in
mind for future trips.
In other words, flying with a privately
chartered business jet will give you so
many benefits that you just don’t get with a
standard scheduled flight at a much more
competitive price than you imagine.

A real alternative to the Alps?
A trip to the Alps, or 14 hours west to British Columbia - way
out at the Pacific Ocean? For most Danish skiers, the question is purely theoretical. Please think for a second time?

Is it the 20 hours travel time, which is the
stop block? How many Danish ski tourists
are not racing up and down the autobahns
for 20 and maybe even more hours to go
skiing? With the travel companies “flights &
bus trips” south, it often takes more than 12
to 15 hours before arrival at the ski destination.
Is the price a barrier? Now, ski tourism has
always been an expensive type of vacation,
so “No” our travel accounts show that it is
not more expensive than the traditional trip
to France. In 2010 Whistler / Blackcomb was
co-host at the Winter Olympics, that means
lots of great deals on accommodation.
What an accommodation? Forget the Alps
“1 star butts places”, be prepared for big and
beautiful accommodations. You are at a risk
for getting lost in your apartment, so great
is the general accommodation. The nearest
ski lift only 300 meters away.
Food, eating and the nightlife are cheap
compared to what you face in the Alps. Do
you want to eat at home, there are all shopping facilities. Will you eat out, you have the
options to try around the world culinary.
The lift pass is twice as expensive as in the
Alps, but in return you will experience no
lift queues.
In Whistler / Blackcomb you ski from “wall
to wall”, called the “Atrium Theatre” by the
locals. You are free to find your own downpipes, your own level of difficulty at your
own pace. When you finally hits the forest
boundary from above, you experience lots
of little trails, laid out as a network of crisscross. Equally fun it is to run these endless
small forest trails, just as surpriced you will
be when another skier “jumps” like a tiny
troll out between the trees. The whole area
is built up with respect for ecology and the
area’s permanent residents, from the winter
sleeping bears, birds and fish.
As a newbie, you must not go to Whistler
/ Blackcomb, opposite if the kids are safe
skiing, there are extreme new learning op-

portunities. At the wildest mountain sides,
groups of 5 to 6 year olds are observed with
their ski instructors on the way down the
hillside. It looks wildly out, but the kids –
and ski instructors – look quite comfortable.
Lunch options are gathered in large units,
here is catered for all tastes - and faiths.
From Sushi to solid Canadian burgers - and
in high quality, served with a smile and
service.
If there still is a little economic surplus of
the plastic card, do not miss a heliskiing
experience. The alternative is the new “Peak
to Peak” lift, a 11 minutes long cable ride,
that takes you from Whistler mountain top
onto Blackcomb mountain top. Along the
way you will witness several world records.
Maximum cabin above the ground, 436
meters at its highest and longest free span
of more than 3 km between the tower and
the tower. Records or not, it is an unforgettable trip with the finest views.
Forget your carving skis at home, with all
the new snow, they are useless in Whistler /
Blackcomb. Rent a set of “power snow” ski.
They are wide, has a huge carrying capacity,
so you surf on top of the fine new snow. It
is simply free play – for children and adults.

So the question in the title has one clear
answer : Yes, Whistler / Blackcomb is a very
real alternative to the Alps. We will certainly
be back very soon.

TFSI® in the new Audi A3
More efficiently ahead
In FSI® technology, the fuel is injected
directly into the combustion chamber and
atomised into a fine spray. This way, the fuel
– metered to almost droplet precision – can
be called upon the millisecond that the
engine requires it. This can contribute to
better use of the fuel and thus to reduced
fuel consumption.
The Audi A3 employs TFSI technology. This
combines the advantages of FSI – efficiency
and dynamism – with a turbocharger,
which ensures even better power delivery.
The 1.4 TFSI engine with 90 kW will get you
economically yet powerfully to your destination. Its lightweight aluminium engine
block saves weight – so you save fuel.
The 1.8 TFSI engine with 132 kW works with
the Audi valvelift system and intelligent
thermal management. More torque is gen-
erated at low engine speed by switching
between two exhaust cam contours – and
you feel the effect directly. The engine
reacts more quickly and accelerates with S
tronic in 7.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.
The Audi valvelift system also saves fuel and
reduces CO2 emissions. In addition to fuel
direct injection, the 1.8 TFSI uses indirect
injection, which makes the part load range
even more efficient.
The turbo chargers of both engines have an
electric wastegate actuator which regulates
the charging pressure particularly quickly
and precisely. In addition, the exhaust
manifold has been integrated in the watercooled cylinder head, reducing the exhaust
gas temperature.
Consumption and emission values:
– Fuel consumption, combined:
5.6–5.2 l/100 km
– CO2 emission, combined:
130–120 g/km
All these measures reduce consumption,
particularly with a sporty driving style. It
goes without saying that both engines
comply with the EU5 emission standard.
TDI® in the new Audi A3
In other words: Where is the tank?
One in every two Audi cars sold today is a
diesel. What sounds perfectly normal now
was cause for huge excitement 20 years
ago, when Audi revolutionised the market
with the first 2.5 litre TDI engine. Developments in technology such as common rail
technology have since made TDI more and
more efficient. The injectors ensure the fuel
is finely and precisely distributed.
Consequently, since the first TDI, the
engines have become more economical,
whilst specific output has increased. That’s
why it was only logical for a diesel to enter
the world of motorsport. And successfully
too: in 2006, Audi was the first car maker to
win the Le Mans 24 Hours with a diesel-
powered race car, the Audi R10 TDI – and
then went on to repeat this victory several
times over, most recently in 2011.
The Audi A3 features a 2.0 TDI engine
with 110 kW that will leave you enthralled
not only by its engine power but by
its efficiency as well. The common rail
injection system has four injectors and is
characterised by an excellent balance of
performance, driving comfort and engine
acoustics. The 2.0 TDI engine also has an
extremely powerful thermal management
system. Its two balancer shafts are now
directly integrated in the crankcase, improving the running smoothness even further.
It reaches its maximum torque of 320 Nm
at 1,750 rpm, and you reach 100 km/h in
just 8.6 seconds. The engine with manual
transmission consumes an average of 4.1
l/100 km and emits only 106 g CO2/km
(combined value). The TDI engine complies
with the EU5 emission standard.

The new Audi Q5
Sporty and versatile
The new Audi Q5 combines the dynamism
of a sports sedan with highly variable
interior and versatile options for leisuretime and family use. Strong and efficient
engines, quattro permanent all-wheel drive
and agile running gear have been brought
together to create a superior technology
package for both on- and off-road driving.
Highlights such as the innovative sevenspeed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and
the Audi drive select control system are
proof of Audi’s Vorsprung durch Technik.
The sportiest SUV in its class is dynamic,
multifunctional and comfortable.
The dimensions alone indicate that this is a
SUV of all-new proportions. Measuring 4.63
meters (15.19 feet) long and 1.88 meters
(6.17 feet) wide, the Audi Q5 is just 1.65

meters (5.41 feet) high – making it sportier
than any of its competitors. What’s more,
this SUV sets another benchmark in its class
with a low drag coefficient of 0.33.
With its sporty elegance and artfully
sculpted forms, the design of the Q5 is
perfectly in tune with the character of Audi
as a brand. The front end is dominated by
expressive headlights on both sides of the
large single-frame grille; on request, they
can be outfitted with bi-xenon lamps and
LED daytime running lights. Viewed from
the side, the large wheels and rising edges
are especially prominent features.
Crowned by a railing, the elegant slope of
the roof underscores the slim, coupe-like
styling. At the rear, the wraparound tailgate
– made from aluminum just like the hood –
clearly identifies this SUV as a relative of its
older brother, the Audi Q7. The taillights are
available in eye-catching LED technology
as well.
Audi offers three different options for the
external trim of the Q5 – black (standard),
contrasting color or full paint finish in the
color of the car. Two body packages are
available as well. The S line exterior package imparts a decidedly sporty look to the
performance SUV, while the alternative
off-road style package with underbody protection in the front and back and 19-inch

This article highlights some of our findings regarding other
players in the financial markets – be it share market advisors
or private customers, the latter of which we will just call investors for the purposes of this article.
In our capacity as market advisors having
had talks with many a customer over a number of years, we know that these investors
are frequently prone to buying and selling
shares with their hearts – thus leaving their
investment decisions in the control of their
feelings. We don’t blame investors for having feelings, but precious few take the time
to calculate what they have actually bought
when buying NOVO at a price of 950 per
share.

NOVO is a bad investment, but at Stonehenge we have calculated a fair value of the

healthy business with a much needed product for which demand will rise steeply, pro-

When investing in shares, you actually buy
a tiny portion of a business with many employees and actual turnover and profits. It
is therefore an amount of risk capital that
you place in a small part of the share capital of the relevant business. That is why you
should make your mind up as to whether
the company is worthy of receiving some of
your money – whether it will take good care
of your money or it will waste the capital put
at its disposal by the shareholders.
That is what we call investing on the basis
of financial analyses of businesses showing
stable earnings. Other market players treat
their clients according to a wish of continuously turning over the client’s money in the
share market. This is called speculation, and
we do not engage in that.

Mark Twain once said that there are two
times in a man’s life when he should not
speculate – when he can’t afford it, and
when he can.
And we do agree. The share market is not a
marketplace for speculators; however, their
presence distorts the price formation making way for value investors like us to find
cheap shares to buy for our customer portfolios.
Investors don’t always like to buy shares in
the market when share prices are dropping.
With falling share prices, most investors feel
unsure whether the good times will be back
and share prices will start rising again. An
investor has just bought at the price of 100
per share, when the price slumps to 75. No
new statements have been issued by the
company, so they must be doing business
as usual. Therefore, it is now actually possible
to supplement the good bargain at 100 with
yet another portion of shares at the price
of 75. The first investment decision at 100,
however, proved to generate a loss which
would make most investors react by wait-
ing for a return of the price to 100 or selling
the shares at 75 or less if the price appears
to stay low or keep falling. Hence, we often
see that investors prefer to buy more shares
on an upward rather than downward trend.
Rising prices has made their initial purchase
look like a success and they want it to grow.
We think there are two explanations for this:
– Firstly, most investors have not made a fair
value calculation of the share and are therefore not comfortable with taking yet another decision if – with prices having fallen –
the first investment decision proved wrong.
– Secondly, investors are at odds with relating to the price of a company’s shares. They
find it hard to understand what a price of 21
for one Facebook share means – it sounds
cheap and at any rate cheaper than an Apple share at 630.
If this type of investor were to buy a new
HUGO BOSS suit and he finds it reduced in
a sale at half price (normally 4,995, now: buy
one, get one free!), he would make a quick decision to buy at half price, because he is well
aware of the price of a suit of that quality.
And he will even get an extra suit. Most people find it easier to rate a suit than a share.
No consumer would ever dream of buying
the suit after a price increase – but that is actually what investors do when buying shares
at rising prices.
The share market can be roughly divided
into investors and speculators, but it is frequently difficult to distinguish between the
two types. The market is swarming with investment advisors who know all there is to
know about investing. Professionals as they
are, they survey the market on a permanent
basis and should know what is happening
and what is going to happen. We claim that
nobody can do that, but anyone can invest
using his or her common sense and making
some sound choices by investing in businesses that he or she understands – and
at a fair price. Speculators tend to sit alone
guessing which businesses will do well
for the next couple of years hoping that a
speculator will buy their shares and that

more speculators will be attracted and buy
at even higher prices based on sheer guessing – which means that the latter are even
more foolish than the former.
There is the old story about speculation
from Monterey, California, which Seth Klarman puts this way:
When the sardines disappeared from their
traditional waters in Monterey, the commodity traders bid them up and the price
of a can of sardines soared. One day a buyer
decided to treat himself to an expensive
meal and actually opened a can and started
eating. He immediately became ill and told
the seller the sardines were no good. The
seller said, ‘You don’t understand. These are
not eating sardines, they are trading sardines.’
After many years’ experience with the “market”, you can thus tell the difference between successful investors and unsuccessful speculators by the way the successful
investor tends to let his or her investment
decisions be based on objective analyses of
the businesses he or she invests in, while the
speculator is frequently driven by a fashion –
windmills are environmentally friendly – and
becomes an easy victim of so-called professional investment advisors. The unsuccessful
specular often succumbs to feelings letting
fear of more losses or the craving for bigger
gains impact his decisions.
As value investors, we only trust our own
analyses and make our investment decisions on the basis of a number of clearly
defined principles guiding us towards businesses with stable earnings and a low debt
ratio. We make a fair value calculation, and
we buy these shares if we can obtain them
at a discount compared to the value we estimated. And we keep away from certain sectors where we find it difficult to get proper
insight into how earnings are made and
how to rate the value of a company.
We have chosen to be extra careful when
taking care of other people’s money.

– A Tribute to Aviation History
Swiss watch company, Oris, pays homage to the Polish team
who won the 1932 Challenge with the introduction of the
Oris Challenge International de Tourisme 1932 Limited

FACTS:
FAI (Fédération Aéronautique International) is an International
non-profit organisation, which was founded in 1905. The organisation defines standards and keeps records of air sports
and of aeronautics and astronautics world records. One such
world record was made by two Polish, who won the Challenge International de Tourisme competition in 1932.
The Challenge International de Tourisme in 1932 was the third FAI tourist plane
contest that took off on 12th August 1932,
from Berlin, Germany. It went on for more
than two weeks and demanded the death
of an Italian pilot. A fearsome challenge, the
contest consisted of three parts: technical
trials and evaluation of all the new planes
participating, a 7363 km rally round Europe
and a maximum speed test with at least
two passengers required on board at all
times.
The aircrafts: The Challenge was to be a
contest of tourist aircrafts, so competing
aircraft had to be able to take at least two
persons aboard, take off and land on a short
field and cover a distance with a good cruising speed. In fact, Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Italy developed modern sports
aircraft specifically to meet the demands of
the Challenge. They all had enclosed crew
cabins, fixed landing gear and advanced
wing mechanization. The other aircrafts, especially French, were less modern and had
lower chances in technical trials.
In the beginning of the contest, six fast German Heinkel He 64s were considered favourites, but a Polish built high-wing RWD-6
plane flown by pilot Franciszek Żwirko and
his mechanic Stanisław Wigura was soon to
prove otherwise. The technical features of
the plane together with a skillful and strategic flight planning of the two Polich pilots,
who kept a regular cruise speed in the rally
in order to make up for a slower plane, rewarded them the overall victory in the Challenge, a new status as national heroes in
their home country and a prominent place
in Aviation History.
Today, 80 years later, this great achievement
is honored by Swiss watch company ORIS,
by presenting a special version in the Big
Crown Pilot watch line called the Oris Challenge International de Tourisme 1932 Limited Edition Watch.
The Challenge 44 mm model showcases the
Big Crown casing with a coin edge top ring
which is synonymous amongst watch enthusiasts. Iconic in the World of Aviation, as a
tribute to start No. 6 of the Polish plane the
counter weight of the central second hand
shows the No. 6. The watch has an automatic
movement with 38 hours power reserve, a
non-reflective sapphire crystal, a screw down
crown and sword shaped hands with Superluminova inlay. But the Challenge is not only
“air born” it also goes down deep with a water resistance of up to 10 bar /100 m.
Limited to 1932 pieces, the Oris Challenge
International de Tourisme 1932 is engraved
at the back with both the individual number of each specific piece and a silhouette
of the famous airplane to symbolize an outstanding Polish achievement cemented in
Aviation history.

Marie Krøyer
– it takes courage to have talent
“It takes courage to have talent” – this is what painter and
friend Agnes Slott-Møller wrote in one of her letters to the
young Marie Triepcke to make her believe more in herself
and her abilities.
Marie’s life appears fascinating to many people. Along with P. S. Krøyer, she belonged to
the cultural elite of Copenhagen, and contemporary newspapers and magazines frequently wrote about the celebrity couple.
However, Marie was more than just a beautiful woman; she was also one of the frontline fighters in connection with Danish
women’s possibilities of training as artists
on an equal footing with men. She was also
a woman with a burning desire to fulfil herself and have a career as an artist. She did
not succeed in this aspiration, as she more
or less gave up painting when she married
P. S. Krøyer in 1889. Instead, she began to
take an interest in interior decoration and
design, although she never exhibited the
items that she made, and she never had an
artistic breakthrough.
Following P. S. Krøyer’s death in 1909, silence
settled around Marie’s person, and it is only
in recent years that she has become known
and recognised for her works, and not least
for her interior decoration and design.
With this little exhibition, Skagen’s Museum
directs focus at Marie Krøyer by showing the
collection of paintings and design by the
artist that belongs to the Museum, along
with a number of the many paintings that
P. S. Krøyer painted of his beautiful wife and
from their life together. The exhibition also
includes two portraits of Marie painted by
Michael Ancher in 1889, which have never
previously been exhibited together.

– bringing ‘KUNSTEN Museum of Modern
Art Aalborg’ up to date
Aalborg is a versatile and vibrant city - full of
contrasts, experiences and curiosities. In the
past the city was an industrial city, but during the years it has been transformed into a
centre of knowledge and culture, development and growth.

aimed to meet the requirements of today’s
daily operating challenges of a modern museum, optimizing the flow of visitors and the
facilities in general.
One of the landmarks in the development
is the upcoming renovation project of KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art. 100 million
DKK (approx. 13,5 mio. Euro) have been
donated from two private funds. The entire
KUNSTEN was designed by Elissa and Alvar Aalto and Jean-Jacques Baruël and was
built between 1968 and 1972. The fabulous
building is primarily known for the unique
inflow of daylight and the use of beautiful

carrara marble, both giving extra prominence to the art works. The renovation project includes an extensive restoration of the
entire building complex, sculpture park and
front entrance, and the marble facades will
be replaced. Furthermore, the museum is
expanded with 800 m2 of additional exhibition facilities in the lower ground floor of the
museum. The project is focused on the task
of renovating and renewing with respect of
the original architecture and quality, and is
an important step towards bringing international art exhibitions to Aalborg.

En reise
i musikkens tjeneste
Raidho betyr fritt oversatt en reise, og det er akkurat hva
mye som mulig av sitt potensial skulle man
både ha hell med at de øvrige delene i kjeden passet sammen og dels legge ned en
enorm jobb på trimming. Men til tross for
dette var det nærmest umulig å komme i
mål.

lokaler, en del av monteringshallene til tidligere høyttalerprodusent Dantax, nå mer et

– og fikk lytte til deres siste epos – og ett par
prototyper. Raidho er en liten og eksklusiv
produsent og produserer i dag bare rundt
400 par per år. ”Vi produserer ikke så mange”,
sier Lars Kristensen med et smil, ”men vi gjør
dem desto bedre…”.
Vinnende prototyper
Dette resulterte i at høyttaleren fikk en ytterst blandet mottakelse med både en hel
del kritikk og en hel del applaus. Børresen
lyttet til kritikken og arbeidet ufortrødent
videre, han tar The Long And Winding Road
og kaster ikke engang blikket mot snarveier.
Det har resultert i at han utviklet sin helt
egne høyttalerelementserie med keramikk/
aluminium sandwich membran, et utrolig
kraftig magnetsystem og en avansert kurv-

Børresen ga en meget interessant demo av
hvordan ulike høyttalerelementer låter helt
ute i det fri – uten kabinett – noe som ga en
del både hakeslippende og tankevekkende

men ikke desto mindre fører slike opplevelser til at man reflekterer mer og bedre over

hvis man ser verdenen med åpne øyne. De-
firmaet har gjort fra sine første verk til den nye stativhøyttaleren C1.1. Og denne anmelderen er helt solgt!
For rundt 10 år siden dukket det plutselig
opp et nytt dansk høyttalermerke. Eben kalte man høyttaleren, men firmaet bar navnet
Raidho. Bak høyttaleren sto den velkjente
Nordost-guruen Lars Kristensen og den nytenkende konstruktøren Michael Børresen.
Det primære kjennetegnet til det nye firmaet var en egenutviklet og ytterst kompetent
bånddiskant.
Jeg reiste opp til Michael Børresen, og Lars
gjennomførte en demonstrasjon av deres
høyttalerlinje. Det låt noe helt for seg selv
– på godt og ondt. Det fantes et fantastisk
potensial, men å forløse det… En type musikk låt suverent, som om den hadde fått en
EPO-innsprøyting, en annen var nærmest
ulyttbar. For å få høyttaleren til å spille ut så
res nye stativhøyttaler C1.1 var en av de nye
prototypene, og jeg smeltet på flekken – de
virket helt enkelt utrolig lovende. Jeg vil gå
så langt som å si at de låt fantastisk i demo
rommet. Jeg fikk løfte om å få teste et par
når de vel var helt ferdige. De ble presentert
på årets CES, og et par uker senere kom Lars
Kristensen forbi med de små krabatene.
Smaker det så koster det
Bassreflekskonstruksjonen C1.1, som er en
videreutvikling av den tidligere modellen
1.0, er en relativ liten høyttaler, 20 x 37 x 36
cm (bxhxd), men veier enda 12,5 kg. For en
ganske betydelig merkostnad kan man kjøpe et par elegante stativ til, som ligner litt på
podiene i den engelske BBC-quizen Pointless, men inspirasjonen skal være hentet fra
Aavik-stativet, som Lars også lå bak en gang i
tiden. Stativene er blant annet utrustet med
Nordosts Sort Kone føtter og det finnes ganske mange aluminiumsdetaljer på stativet,
så det er ikke rart at de krever en viss pris.
Jeg reagerte på at stativene virket vel høye
visuelt sett. Lars Kristensen sier at de har
prøvd med flere høyder, men at det helt enkelt låter best slik. Etter å ha hørt høyttaleren
er jeg innstilt på å tro dem, men hjernen vil
hele tiden påpeke at de virker høye.
Inne i høyttaleren er det Nordost Valhalla og
Odin internkabling, egenproduserte terminaler og et delingsfilter med noen utvalgte
komponenter i Über Spitzenklasse.Kabinettet er i en enestående kvalitet, både når det
gjelder konstruksjon og finishmessig, og så
har vi jo deres egne elementer, som vel er
blant de heftigere du overhodet kan få fatt
i. Det har kostet både tid, tankearbeide og
en hel del kreativitet for å få fram disse helt
ukompromissløse elementer. Ikke å undre
seg over at høyttalerne koster penger.
Renhet og realisme
C1.1 er ikke særlig vanskelig å stille opp, spiller glatt med det meste i forsterkerveien –
men avslører også hvilken elektronikk som
er bra og hvilken elektronikk som ikke er det
– og er når alt kommer til alt en hyggelig lekekamerat for en tester. Forskjellen fra deres
første høyttalere til hvilken tid man trenger
legge ned for å optimere det hele er absurd.
Jeg har uten større problem fått høyttaleren
til å spille utmerket både på langs og tvers
av lytterommet.
Ok, vi hopper rett ut i det. Jeg har ikke hatt
noen bedre stativhøyttalere i mitt hus.
Punktum. Man får en kanon musikkopplevelse med fremfor alt en helhet og en realisme som er frapperende.
Hva er det da som gjør at man faktisk med
en gang hører at denne høyttaleren hører til
de få, at det er en av de høyttalere der du
faktisk begynner å sjekke bankkontoen for
å se om det har kommet inn noen penger
fra det ytre rom slik at man skulle kunne beholde de? Jeg tror det springende punktet
handler om renhet, om at forvrengningen
er minimal, om at elementene er særdeles
kompetente. Dynamikk finnes i en grad
man sjelden hører fra en høyttaler med bare
to elementer, homogeniteten i gjengivelsen gjør at man slapper av og bare lytter. At
høyttalerne avslører hver en liten endring du
gjør i avspillingskilden legger jeg som tester
kanskje større verdi i enn normalkonsumenten, men det er bare ytterligere en sak som
peker på styrken i høyttalernes gjengivelse.
Det peker også mot at den spiller musikken
på musikkens premisser og ikke på høyttalerens.
Litt musikk
Da Lars Kristensen kom med høyttalerne lyttet vi nesten en hel dag, han hadde nemlig
også med seg en sekk med kabler han veldig gjerne ville vise frem. Så smått gikk det
over til at vi begynte å plukke frem musikk
til å spille for hverandre. Lars spilte et stykke
som jeg ikke har hørt før, det viste seg å være
en låt med Supertramp (til tross for at det
ikke låt slik) – rundt 10 år gammel, sa Lars.
Skiven er fra 1997, heter Some Things Never
Change og låten var It’s A Hard World. Well,
det var en av de der mange skivene som
kommer bort i en samling, for naturligvis sto
den under S. En meget interessant låt som
setter anlegget på mange overraskende
prøvelser, og som jeg kommer til å bruke i
blant under min testlytting.
Her finnes både distinkt, tung bassgang,
mystisk lyd, harmonier, blåsere, you name
it. C1.1 kan forløse dette sammensurium av
stilarter og lyd så det er en ren fornøyelse.
Bassen er alltid en akilleshæl hos fysisk mindre høyttalere, og spesielt kanskje stativhøyttalere i alminnelighet. Naturlig nok får vi
ikke den flyttingen av luft som du får hos en
gulvstående høyttaler med mer membranareal å arbeide med, men det er ikke slik at
man lider direkte under den bassen man får
via C1.1. Den er fast, rapp, distinkt og meget
kompetent og låter som om den går lenger
ned enn den faktisk gjør.
Sens moral – stirr dere ikke blinde på de
oppgitte tall. Min personlige favoritt Joe
Jackson har flere liveskiver i katalogen, og
hans studioalbum har ofte blitt gjort semi-live for å ha det spesielle livepreget av
at det er folk med kjøtt og blod som spiller.
Den kan Raidho C1.1 formidle på den aller
beste måten takket være en suveren oppløsning og den tidligere nevnte renheten.
Man zoomes inn i hendelsenes sentrum og
bys på det som alt handler om – en opplevelse!
Noe negativt?
Tja, egentlig ikke så mye. Jeg kan klage på at
høyttalerne står løst på stativene mot fire vibrasjonsdempende utstyrssaker, slik at man
ikke skal dytte altfor hardt for å rokke på de
– eller skrekk og gru, velte dem. Husdyradvarsel, altså.
Men lydmessig? Da jeg spilte på langveggen
i rommet kunne høyttalerne slå an en node
i rommet som jeg ikke visste jeg hadde og
ikke hadde hørt med noen annen høyttaler,
men det kunne korrigeres ved å trekke høyttalerne noen centimeter tilbake. Og spesielt
kanskje, stille de lenger fra hverandre – disse
høyttalerne skal stå langt fra hverandre, noe
som kan stille til et lite problem når det gjelder en del rom.
Jeg er meget glad i disse høyttalerne, som
jeg mener kan forløse musikk i et vanlig beboelsesrom på en måte som er få høyttalere
forunt. Ut og lytte!

When arriving the beautiful
building of Ørland Culture
Centre, you are met, of all
possible creatures, by a tapir.
In this house in a small town of Brekstad on
the Norwegian west coast you will find
– a centre for wetland systems of international importance
– site for 15th century historic knowledge,
with special focus on the refomation of the
Norwegian church, from Roman catholic
to Lutheran system

an important exhibition of the famous
­tapestries of Mrs Hannah Ryggen
– site for the annual festivals of blues, and of

– site for an annual film festival on ethic and

The culture centre also hosts various exhibitions, theatre performances, and concerts,
cinema, municipal culture school, and performances by local amateur groups.
This house, which was built in 2009, has
become a great success among the local
population as well as visitors.

Ørland municipality, traffic terminal for the
harbour of Brekstad, and the Ørland costal

For those who prefer the thrill of downhill
skiing, we can present 6 alpine centers with
slopes suitable for both beginners and the
more advanced skiers. Even though most of
them have a family-friendly focus, you will
also find areas that are perfect for off-piste
skiing and guided peak tours in the northernmost areas.
Kiting has become a very popular sport and it
is not uncommon to see a group of kite skiers
in the open mountain areas on a windy day.
Beginners can sign up for lessons and can
look forward to a unique experience.
You don’t have to be a skier to enjoy the
snow in Valdres. A cozy sleigh ride with
torches and bells will lead you into the winter landscape while you close your eyes and
listen to the steady rhythm of the horses.
Dog sledding is fun, exotic and environmental friendly. You can choose to drive on your
own after thorough instructions or just sit
comfortably in the sledge and enjoy the surroundings. These activities are suitable for
everyone, regardless of disabilities.
Snow biking is a fun and action packed activity for those who need variety from the

In the period between mid-February and
the beginning of May, you can be transported with the historic “weasels” (a type
of snowmobile) from Tyin to Eidsbugarden.
This is a great way to explore Jotunheimen
during the winter, with or without skis. From
the Fondsbu tourist cabin (DNT), choose between day trips, mountain ascends on skis,
or set out for a challenging multi day ski tour
from cabin to cabin in the high mountains
(guided tours available).
