But it also includes activities that invite the surrounding Cook Street community to come together and build neighborhood relationships. The Board of Directors also played an active role in the Community BBQ, including but not limited to communications, marketing, event delivery, donations and membership drives. On July 12th we held our annual Community Day Barbeque, and offered entertainment for children, opened the doors to showcase many of the Centre’s programs and services. What a wonderful day it was! Thanks to the efforts of our wonderful volunteers, staff, and board members we enjoyed a record turn-out of 300+ neighbors and signed up several new members. In addition we were rewarded by the presence of Mayor Dean Fortin and Councillor Charlayne Thornton-Joe, Councillor Lisa Helps, Councillor Shellie Gudgeon, and Councillor Chris Coleman. This kind of response makes us feel we may achieve the goals of Cook Street Village Activity Centre’s mission. - Ivan Carlson, President Membership Fees Purchase your annual membership for $50 or a monthly membership for $7.
